Product Description
Black Lung's 'the Coming Dark Age' features an Electrotechno and Sociopolitical Theme Through Avant-garde Instrumental Work, Possessed by Wildly Experimental Elements Juxtaposed by Variations of Deep Electro, Techno, Crunchy Breaks, Neo Space Rock and Startling Abrupt Rhythmic Changes, Down to Industrial-ambience. This Stunning and Daring Work of Australian Electronic Composer David Thrussell (Snog /Soma) Combines Many Aspects of Great Works by the Likes of Cabaret Voltaire, Aphex Twin, Gyorgy Ligeti, in a Recording that Could Just as Easily Find a Home with Fans of Electronica, Techno, Industrial, and 21st Century Avant-garde.
I won't bother trying to pick out any standout tracks, as all of them have something worthwhile to offer. As a 'concept album' with a socio-political theme it could be ho-hum, but it convincingly manages to musically paint a picture of societal and environmental degradation that reflects our current consumer-driven 'grasp-at-all-costs' world mentality.
Stark and menancing electronica at its best, beats are used to punctuate the industrial edge that builds up throughout each track. There are musical journeys through both claustrophobia and agoraphobia here. The message is most certainly one of inevitable and unremitting decline and the last track 'The new dark age' has a palpable sense of loss and menace.
Brilliant - buy it!!!
PS There is more engaging and intelligent electronica and techno from Australia available at the Psy-Harmonics website - www.psy-harmonics.com.au. Try - Shaolin Wooden Men; Grey Area; Hesius Dome; Ollie Olsen; Ornament and the Psy-Harmonics samplers - to name but a few. If you buy this CD and like it you will enjoy all of the above!
PPS I have no interest in the Psy-H organisation, other than being an avid fan of their catalogue.

Product Description
David Thrussell first came to the eyes and ears of the electronic music scene in 1992 as a member of Australia's Snog, whose dance hit, "Corporate Slave", was the first of a still-on going string of club classics. His early years in the scene were strictly with Snog, working to build up their sound and audience base with a number of successful singles and two highly regarded full length CDs: Lies, Inc. and Dear Valued Customer. In 1994, Snog released an Australian extended single, Hey Christian God, which included a large amount of material that was not intended for international release under the Snog umbrella. Instead, this material became the nucleus of the first release of Thrussell's solo project, Black Lung. Black Lung combines many aspects great work such as of cabaret voltaire, aphex twin, gyorgy ligeti, in a recording that could just as easily find a home with fans of electronica, techno, ambient, industrial, and 21st century avant-garde compositions. Crunch Pod is excited to bring the first domestic Black Lung release since 1997's 'The Disinformation Plague' on Metropolis Records. 'The Coming Dark Age' marks another important milestone in Black Lung's career and the version Crunch Pod releases in September 2006 will feature 2 exclusive tracks to this edition.
