Very hip album.......2006-11-04

I was happy to find this album. The beats are really solid. Definitely a nice break from typical bollywood music. The music is energetic and rocking. Definitely a nice add to my collection. I'm not even into dance music, but this album has a totally different feel that you're sure to love.

It's not classical Indian, but it's not girl meets boy à la Shreya and Khaan either. This is the stuff you will play at parties, or if you just want to nod your head off and chill out.

A new gem in my CD Collection........2004-06-30

I found this little gem by accident. I don't know much about this type of music, but I was looking for something that would have an mix of Indian Music with kind of a techno feel. Anyway, I usually don't write reviews, but I really enjoyed this cd and recomend it to anyone like me who doesn't know much about Indian Music.

Bombay Beats - a two CD compilation

- a very even smooth-flowing compilation, good selection & editing.

- falls into the "music is medicine" category - in this case, music is a drug... a soporific.

- a good example of "World Music Lite" - more culture raiding & looting themes and instrumentation for loops to flow over thumping bass lines and drums.

- not challenging, wall paper music for a relaxed yet exotic environment where you'll be chillin' and noddin' your head.

If you have any CDs by Jah Wobble, Natasha Atlas, Talvin Singh or Bill Laswell in your collection, this CD box will go right next to those.

Bliss out, space out, chill out, nod your head.

I really liked this the first 50 times I played it.
