5 out of 5 stars May be WDMHFSB will remain forever..........2005-09-14

This is a song that has remained for several years... I don't know why but every time that I listen to it.. makes me think of many things... sometimes sad moments, sometimes happay moments...this it is the most emotional song that I have heard...

4 out of 5 stars Why does my honey feel so sunny?.......2001-04-09

In contrast to its radio edit from the first CD, Fafu's 12" Mix of "Honey" featuring Kelis is a track worth taking at least somewhat seriously. It is a laid-back hip-hop variation that adds a simple canned beat and new vocals to what sounds like slowed-down outtakes from Moby's 118 Mix. Kelis' lyrics are the same bits of self-promoting silliness that I criticized in my review of the radio edit, but they have achieved a better effect when surrounded by more actual music. This track is a clear example of why full-length mixes are almost always superior to radio edits.

Red Jerry's String & Breaks Mix of "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?" is beautifully done, and bears more evidence of inspired effort than 95% of the remixes out there. With a graceful emotional quality akin to that of Moby's Voodoo Child album _The End Of Everything_, the song is rendered as a soaring melody with an uptempo beat. I'll be on the lookout for more music by Red Jerry.

"The Sun Never Stops Setting" is a magnificent B-side. Appropriately named, it conjures grand images of a big, orange sunset, or the ocean as seen from high in the clouds. The song has a gorgeous cinematic quality that would be ideal for use in the end credits of a powerful movie. It quickly fades out after just four minutes. I wish it were longer and had "proper" non-faded ending, but then that might break the infinitude implied by the title.

4 out of 5 stars Two Great New Remixes.......2000-11-25

This single caught me by surprize when I first saw it in stores, but being a huge Moby fan, it became a must-have.

Moby breathed some new life into the old track "Honey," the first single off his 'Play' album, by adding the vocals of Kelis. While there is still somewhat of a gospel aspect as in the original version of Honey, the addition of Kelis and Fafu's remix give the song an R&B twist. This CD features a six-minute 12" mix, whereas the #1 disc has a shorter, more radio-friendly 3 minute version.

The second track is a wonderfully done new remix of Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad done by Red Jerry. It has a definite trance sound to it, a very airy yet fast-paced track. If you've heard the other remixes of this song avaiable on the original release, it is probably most like the Subsonic Legacy Remix.

The final track is a b-side, The Sun Never Stops Setting. It's a slow, peaceful (if not meandering) track. It reminds me a lot of Vangelis (think music you might hear in Blade Runner).

Overall, the CD is a must for die-hards and while the price might scare away all but those people, this CD just might be worth a try if you're adventurous.

5 out of 5 stars Great music for reading, relaxing, or a dinner party.......2003-09-14

A friend plays this music while she's painting and let us borrow it. I can definitely see how she becomes inspired while listening to it. The string arrangements are perfect for letting your mind and creativity wander to new places. Sometimes we just put track one on repeat.

5 out of 5 stars Impossibly Cool........2003-03-20

Really. Great. Maybe Moby is more suited to orchestral sometimes, this can be a little 'whiney'. However, it's a great expansion on Moby's earlier work and also 'Play'. Try 'Everything Is Wrong' if you like this and haven't already heard it.

5 out of 5 stars WOW!.......2002-05-14

I ordered this on a lark thinking it would be an interesting listen at the very least. I'm so glad I gave it a try, because it's really a terrific recording. Imagine Moby's more mellow compositions given a first-rate string treatment with a bit of percussion and you've got a good idea of what to expect on the CD. It's been sitting in my player for several days now, and I like it more with each play. If you enjoy Moby's chill-out works like Novia and Porcelain then you'll be delighted with this disc.

3 out of 5 stars Kind of weak........2001-04-04

This single re-releases the radio edit of "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?", along with a new hip-hoppy take on "Honey", and a previously-available B-side. The whole CD clocks in at less than ten and a half minutes.

"Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?" is truly a good song. Built around vocal samples from an old recording by the Shining Light Gospel Choir, it is a great example of the richly harmonious bluesy style that permeates Moby's album _Play_. WDMHFSB was already released as a single one year earlier, complete with good remixes and better B-sides. Given Moby's staggering backcatalogue of unreleased tunes (to say nothing of his environmental stance), this redundancy seems inexplicably needless.

The second song is amusing. "Honey" is overlaid with a simple drum machine beat by Fafu and silly vocals by Kelis. After quoting lyrics from "Bodyrock", Kelis admonishes listeners to get on the dance floor and acknowledge that Moby is "the disco king". The resulting song is worthless, yet fun enough to break out at a party or two. This tongue-in-cheek music is reminiscent of Moby's goofy self-effacing antics with Gwen Stefani in the "South Side" video.

"Flower" is down-tempo and earthy, similar in style to the album version of "Honey", but slower. It's a good track that many people will recognize from the opening credits of the 2000 movie _Gone In 60 Seconds_. Previously available on the motion picture soundtrack, "Flower" also appears on the much-sought-after _Play: The B-Sides_ limited edition 2CD box set. As with some other Moby songs based on Alan Lomax recordings, its exact lyrics will likely be a subject for perpetual debate among fans. I'm a bit disappointed that the hand clapping introduction (present in the movie) was removed for the CD releases.

Overall, I see this CD single as somewhat of a lame gimmick, lacking in good new content. A different song should have been released instead, with new B-sides and/or remixes. "Machete", "The Sky Is Broken", "Find My Baby", "Everloving", "Rushing", and "If Things Were Perfect" all come to mind. The Kelis collaboration I don't mind so much, but I believe that Moby and Mute Records could have offered better value for the money spent on this CD. Taken alone, however, this single is fairly decent, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to get ahold of "Flower".

4 out of 5 stars Great New Mix and Great B-Side.......2000-11-25

Track 1 is the version of Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad which is already available on the 'Play' album and the previous singles. It's a cross between gospel-sounding soul-searching and slower dance hit, as odd as that sounds. A good track on it's own merit, but something new would be nice for the fans who might already have this song.

Track 2 is the new version of Honey, featuring Keils and remixed by Fafu. The version on disc #1 is a shorter radio-friendly 3 minute track (a longer version appears on disc 2). The original song had sort of a gospel-meets-funk with drum programming, but the Kelis vocals give a new R&B twist to the song, breathing new life in this track.

Track 3 is the B-Side "Flower." This song has a definite gospel/funk/dance feel to it, much like the original Honey or Natural Blues tracks on the 'Play' album. This b-side is among my favorites.

A must-have for the Moby fan and a highly-recommended introduction to Moby's music.

    4 out of 5 stars Great.......2004-07-28

I listened to the 'Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?' remixes, and i was very dissapointed, as in the south in america, this is classified as soul music, and it relates to me very much, and people in other countries or even parts of this county don't understand the type of music that this song introduces, so they change it to somthing they know.
So i decided to get this single.
Track one is one of my favourite tracks off 'play', and i bought this single hoping to get the original version. alas, like the 'natural blues' single, it has been edited by about 40 seconds, removing some of the best parts of the song. i love this song, and removing any of it seems like removing the book of genesis from the torah, or removing the gospels from the new testament.
Track 2 is a beautiful, moving track that has the same feel as the first one does, but in an entirely different way. it has to be my favourite b side from play.
Track 3 seems out of place at first for this cd, but in a way, it seems just right. It balances out the feelings given in the first two tracks, and leaves you entirely satisfied. I got every cent's worth for this cd.

5 out of 5 stars To Truly Connect With.......2001-01-31

"Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?" is one of my favourite songs of all time. I'm not religious, I'm not even a Christian - but this song can be connected with on any level you like. It's very simple (Gospel Choir, piano chords, gorgeous beat) but extremely effective. The lyrics follow the same line of simplicity, in fact there's only really three lines ("why does my heart feel so bad? / Why does my soul feel so bad? /These open doors, These open doors...")

It's somehow uplifting, and I never get sick of hearing it.

5 out of 5 stars Buy it just for the Ferry Corsten mix.......2000-12-20

I am just going to pretend the other two mixes don't even exist in this review because 1) while the ATB mix is-as always- cute, it's certainly not a masterpiece, plus their sound seems to take over and totally disregard the original song and 2)the third one I really didn't enjoy very much (it's somewhat dark and scary) and I don't even recall who did it. The Ferry Corsten mix, however, is AWESOME! I swear, I was practically in tears the first time I heard it and have made everyone I know go out and buy this single. It has the perfect amount of downtime before the song starts to build you up again and before you know it, you are dancing around like a maniac! It has an amazing sound-lots of happy energy! Six minutes pass like six seconds. I think I have listened to this song about 50 times in the past week and it still gets me pumped up. C'mon! Just try it. It's only a single so what do you have to lose! I can almost guarantee that you'll like it!

        4 out of 5 stars 3 different world.......2000-05-20

The remix cd contains 3 different mixes for this track by today's top DJs. Every DJ gave his own sound to the track, and none of the remixes is even close to the original, lowbeat version. Is it better? Depeneds if you like club tunes. I liked the mixes, and I can't compare the to the original - it's simply a different thing.

The ATB mix is the disappointing one. You can hardly hear the unique ATB sound in that mix, and for some reason it seems as if the vocals are not synchronized with the beat...It seems that ATB didn't have any idea for a remix to this song.

The Ferry Corsten remix is simply a killer. Corsten managed to bring his smashing club-trance sound to the tune, added a great melody and still kept a link to the song. This is the hottest track in the cd.

The subsonic legacy remix is a fantastic track too. It is not a floor burning track like ATB's and Corstern's remixes, but it really sounds like a Moby track. You could place this track in Moby's "play", and you would think it is one of his "real" tracks. The sound reminds me something between "Natural Blues" and "Run On". So it's a great mix too.

It is really a successful remix cd, and it gives new life for this track.
