4 out of 5 stars The IZM... brings the wisdom..........2006-06-06

Madizm was the cut to get my mouth wattery. Once this LP dropped, my hunger pains were filled. True, the best track was the 1st single, but almost every track on this album would grow on you and leave you in need of a neck brace. This was their best work, probably due to the blastmaster on their side... dope nonetheless and one of my fav LPs.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best ever!.......2006-05-02

This disc turned me into a hardcore hip-hop head. These cats can spit some darts that would make mentor KRS-ONE proud. The beats are grimey and on point, and the rhymes are dope. This is a true underground classic, and for those interested in some ruff neck mid 90's hip-hop - this is for you. 11 years later and this CD still sounds better than all of the pop-hop out there now. Pick this up, you wont be sorry.

4 out of 5 stars Wake up in the morning....got the yearnin' for 'erb.....4.5 Stars.......2006-01-04

The duo of Hakim and Tuffy, considered proteges of KRS-One release their debut album Station Identification(perfectly titled after the group's name). Naturally, the highlight of the album was the debut single "Mad Izm" sparked with a neck-snapping beat to fit the over 4 minute verbal assault discussing the ghetto's favorite pasttime. There are several other notables on this album including "Reprogram" featuring KRS-One(he shows up on several other tracks also), "Sex For The Sport" and "Down Goes The Devil". Production handled mostly by Salaam Remi among others. Channel Live's debut definitely shouldnt be overlooked and "Mad Izm" was a spring classic in 1994.

5 out of 5 stars Down Goes The Devil.......2005-11-28

5 out of 5 stars Electronic music done the right way.......2002-12-18

The Octopus Project uses electronic music, yes, but that in no way makes them techno, or electronica, or whatever else you want to call it. This is Electric Jam Out at it's greatest! This album is full of smooth transitions from guitar work to keyboard and back, bass lines that get you moving, and drums that hold it all together. While most instrumental (jam out) bands take themselves and their music overly seriously, TOP gives it a much needed playful groove. This is a great cd to sleep to, study to, party to, or even dance to. And plus they represent Austin Texas! Word!

Phoniques "Identification" is an excellent album for those into that quirky house sound Germany is quickley becoming known for. This album covers much of the Poker Flat and Dessous sound. Laid back grooves and Chunky Basslines are what make these labels stand out from others and "Identification" is no different. In to Steve Bug or Martin Landsky? Dont sleep, pick this up ASAP...

4 out of 5 stars Solid Post Metal Album.......2005-09-28

That's it. Good if you like the Toadies. A fresh sound from ten years ago, if that makes sense.

5 out of 5 stars A truly great, yet overlooked Texas band..........2002-09-24

Brutal Juice was at one time one of the coolest "buzz bands" out there, and boy, were they ever "out there." With singer/songwriter/guitarist Gordon Gibson's twisted tales of a Whorehouse of Screams and girls that aren't so "pretty on the inside," this band rocks in a way that few of the current crop of Nu metallers or retro garage rockers could. They rock hard, with a musical attack similar to the Butthole Surfers old days and Slayer, but with an ace knack for unique pop hooks. At the forefront of all this madness is lead singer Craig Welch, a crazy so and so who used to light himself on fire during their legendary live performances. His unique style of scream/singing makes it sound as though there are several different singers in the band. Interscope signed this band around the same time as they signed the Toadies, who are from the same scene, and sadly, this group didn't even get a single boost from their label, as the Toadies would experience a few years later. But, what more can I say...great album, wonderful album.

5 out of 5 stars Just Buy It.......2002-08-08

One of the best albums I've ever heard. Noise-art-punk-metal at its absolute best. Complex song structures, fantastic production, "inspired" lyrics, and thick guitar noise make this a great album from one of Texas' finest. If you don't like this album, there is something very wrong with you...or maybe there's just something very wrong with the rest of us...whatever...

    5 out of 5 stars Momma sez . . ........2002-06-28

Well-crafted riffs, charismatic vocals, breathtaking production, and packed with more manic energy than a herd of ritalin-crazed buffalo galloping madly across the Texas sage. The sheer animosity of 'Kentucky F*ck Daddy' will send chills down your spine, violate your psyche and leave you reeling. My personal favorite is 'Kathy Rigby', a white-trash paean celebrating marital bliss, which unfortunately will never be dedicated to one's sweetheart on FM radio due to its crass redneck raunchiness. Rarely has listening to a record produced a more enjoyable experience -- this is one one of the most incredible records you will ever have the privilege of listening to. GET THIS ALBUM.

    5 out of 5 stars Kathy Rigby's favorite album!.......1999-06-25

This release from 1995 places high on my "Most Underrated Albums of the 90's" list. Mixed by Sylvia Massy (who co-produced Tool's "Undertow" album), this record is "sonic assault" defined. Heavy riffs and melodic screaming have rarely sounded better. Play this one through from the beginning and take your whuppin' like a man.
