Not your father's funk.......2006-07-17

While not the best of George Clinton, as I have seen him morph over the years, but a very good effort. My wife somehow "misplaced" this CD so I had to search high and low to get a replacent, but I am enjoying it as much as I did the first time hearing it.

This CD is not the funk that you grew up with, or would be used to, but you cannot deny what the rappers bring to the table. It adds an edge to it that makes it fun and fresh, even in today's hip hop days. It is definitely one that is a keeper, from the remix of atomic dog to fries with that shake, George CLinton manages to make this one good "contempory funk" CD that is worthy of your collection. Listen to it more than once, it deserves that much.

Greatest Funkin Hit's NOT!.......2005-10-27

This was not the a CD with the original hits I was looking for. I wanted to hear Parliament, not Ice Cube, ODB, Digital Underground, etc. This was a CD full of remixes. If you want to hear old school with artists from the new school chimming in --buy it. If not, you'll either have to buy the deluxe box set for over a hundred, or buy a whole cd for one song. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a CD with all 4 of my favorites on it: Knee Deep, One Nation, Atomic Dog, Flashlight.

Fool Master George Gets Extra Funk.......2004-07-17

Fool Master George (my affectionate pet name for G/C)gets quite raw and funky with a little help from the current generation of rappers. Hardcore funk fans may consider this to be musical blasphemy, but to my ears it works. As much as I despise Ice Cube and much of what he stood for in the 90s, I like his take on "Bop Gun." Clinton comes off like a proud papa watching his sons of funk Naughty By Nature, Digital Underground, and the rest work it with his stuff. A good funky listen.

SUCH TRUTHFUL LYRICS!!!.......2004-02-11

I would have to say the song that stood out for me on this CD is Atomic Dog (for obvious reasons). I was amazed that a human being could write those lyrics!

I mean , the part about "the dog that chases his tail will be dizzy." Oh man, how true is that? Guilty as charged!

And I also don't know what makes me want to chase cats, but I do!!! Why must I feel like that?

Oh, it's so nice for someone to finally capture my feelings in a song.

this isn't what you really want.......2006-06-23

i wish i'd read the preceding review before i bought this CD. i thought i'd found a treasure with all of these great old school jams on it, but i didn't realize that the original artists weren't recorded on these disks. what a disappointment!! who in their right mind would redo a classic by grandmaster flash & the furious 5?? or run dmc?? it's like they tried to sound like the original artists, but totally missed the boat. this is garbage. don't buy it. if i could've rated it lower than a "1" i would have.

Pure Garbage!!!.......2005-10-12

The music on this CD does not have the actual original songs on here. When I heard Din Daa Daa, it was pure trash, as well as every other song on this CD. Even Rainforest was garbage, the "Original Mix" of Rainforest is a billion times better than this.

these songs have been sampled to death atomic dog features coolio, and shorty, bop gun features ice cube, and knee deep features digital underground not the best place to learn what p funk is all about.
