Customer Reviews:
this just goes NOWHERE.......2005-03-16
I was always under the impression that DJ mix albums were supposed to take the listener on a "trip". This one starts out promising, with the bitchy commentary of "It's Over" but quickly goes nowhere fast. Terribly disappointing.
Sex drugs and rock'n'roll... It's over........2005-02-23
When I first played this album, I thought it was kindof overdone, the sounds not blending well and the vocals too frequent and random... however, humorous at times. After listening to it I got the feeling that Keoki made this mix as sortof a tribute to some old friends... drag queens trippin' balls, tweak'd out club kids, or heroin addicted fashion models... the drug vibe is very strong. If you fit the above, and you're into electro, then goshdarnit buy this album! Don't be fooled by the poor intro, the album really pick up and reaches it's 'climax' in the middle. Best tracks: Zombie Nation - Unload; Waldorf - You're My Disco (New Romantic Mix); Zombie Nation feat. Divine (God love her!) - Native Love.
Worst album I have ever heard!.......2004-11-30
This album is more punk then techno, and the techno that is present is of poor quality. I discarded my copy and never looked back. I love Keoki, but this album makes me not want to buy anymore of his albums.
Worst Album EVER........2004-06-22
I've been so incredibly pleased with Keoki's work up until this point ... all the way from "We Are One" until "djmixed.com/keoki", but it's clearly apparent that this man has completely lost his mind. Aside from releasing a shameful piece of trash, and mind you if his message was to create a "clash" of genres including his hated disco, he did so quite poorly. Not only is this CD painful to listen to, but it's made a friend of mine who worshipped Keoki's work to basically use "Keokiclash" as an example of how electronic music should NOT sound. Besides delving into a genre for which he should have never attempted, the entire disc is tainted by his own untimely and annoying vocals. As with "Jealousy", the disc would have been better without his pointless comments. It's as if I was listening to chat radio with the demo button on a casio keyboard being played in the background. He should take a few notes from Sven Vath, for at least the "Godfather" knows where and when self-vocals are appropriate.
To sum things up, Keoki took a major nosedive here. Few people in the rave scene would ever want to dance or listen to something of this nature. If he's going for this genre, he could have at least done some real work and written the tracks himself. Granted, Keoki's a comical dude, and his CD certainly gave me quite a few laughs. Laughter was the only resort to dull the pain of having to listen to the worst album ever written.
Too bad we can't rate products with 0's.
The music is shallow and goes nowhere.........2003-11-26
This whole Electro-clash thing is a major fad for 2003/2004 and Keoki is jumping on the bandwagon. I fully expect his style will be radically different a few years from now unlike his past where he matured and grew with the music, now he just leaps onboard to do what others are doing in an "Americanized" way.
For what it's worth, the songs are just ok. I don't feel any emotion or drive behind the mix like I have with past Keoki mixes, including his own remix work. You have to be in one of those non-emotional moods to get into this.
Still, I feel it's a dead end mix. You're not left with any depth or emotion you would typically feel from past Keoki mixes or other "modern" DJs.
