Customer Reviews:
Pulsating Picotto.......2001-11-22
Mauro Picotto is a an extraodinary dj/producer and this CD showcases his talents as a producer. Nearly all of his hits are included on 'the album'. From 'Pulsar' to 'Like This Like That' it includes Picotto's highlights from the past few years. This album is a little softer than most of the music Picotto tends to play during a live set, although it is still on the harder side of trance. For a good example of the harder sound he has as a dj, try to find a copy of his live set from the Turbinenhalle (2000). If you are a fan of Picotto, 'the album' is an easy way to get most of his singles in one place. Great CD to listen to the whole way through, even if the tracks are only partially mixed together.
Awesome.......2001-11-06
I have been a fan of Mauro Picotto since 1998 when he released 'Lizard (Gonna Get Ya)' in the UK, although it wasn't really available at most record shops. From then on, he has produced great tunes with a thumping bassline, and mellow break downs like 'Komodo', 'Proximus' and 'Pulsar'. Since he has made these tunes, he has gone into a new way of making music. Listen to 'Baguette' and 'Pegasus' as these are his hardest tunes to date. But if you like his melodic breakdowns, it is doubtful you will like these.
Picotto has been releasing some other tunes (not on the CD but available for download on Morpheus) like 'Verdi', 'Prendi & Scappa' and 'Kebab', all of which are hard techno tunes.
I had to get this album on import from Germany as its not on sale in the UK but it was worth the wait and price for it
Coming to get ya!.......2001-06-11
I first became aware of Picotto's work without knowing it, with his rave classic "We Gonna Get". Close to a decade later, he brings that same uplifting, hands-in-the-air vibe with the anthems "The Lizard", "Komodo", "Proximus", and "Like This Like That", which feature insanely catchy hooks sure to stick in one's head for weeks. Recently, though, he's been dabbling in "techno" (the monotonous "bangin'" variety) with apparently great success, according to some of the press clips I've read. Personally, I find this to be a shame--all his maxis have boring techno remixes on them which strip the originals of their fun quality, replacing it with the repetitiveness that passes for depth and seriousness these days. Tunes like "Baguette" are indicative of this regrettable movement. I understand that it's hard to churn out masterworks like his trademark Megavoices Claxxix mixes day in and day out, but personally, I prefer throwaway eurotrance to throwaway techno.
Luckily, this album contains all the hits and is worth the price alone for them--my only other complaint is that the mix of "The Lizard" isn't my favorite, the RAF by Picotto mix.
Some hard trance/ house for your senses...........2001-04-19
I simply bought this album for the single "komodo". I did not know what to expect, but Mauro did not let me down. The Entire cd is very strong and has a good flow between tracks. I was also impressed with the tracks Iguana, pegasus, proximus and lizard. The Lizard man has done a good job.

The best trance you can find!.......2004-04-16
For all of you that like guys like Pauk Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold and BT, you must check Mauro Picotto, the king of trance! Here's proabably his greatest album, this self titled master piece. Picotto can make melodies like no one else and his addictive trance sound is unique. The hypnotic "Komodo" and "Proximus" are trance classics so they don't need any further explenation. "Lizard" is a bit simular to BT's "Flaming June" while "Like this like that" is yet another meliodic master piece. "Pulsar" sounds abit like Darude, faster with electronic voices. "Iguana" is also beautiful meliodic and at the same time hard. Picotto has a tendacey to build up the songs in a exelent way, sometimes you can hear the song for 2 minutes and then the explotion with the "hook" that often sounds completely diffrent from the rest, in this way you'll never get tired of his music. It's always a experience and never repetitive like some dance songs can be. If you at first don't like a song, don't skip cause there will always be pleasant surprises with Mauro Picotto. Almost every song is good here so if you're into trance you'll be listening for this record for weeks. Both relativetely slow and faster songs but always with the fantastic Picotto sound ofcourse "Ultimahora Ibiza" is one of the faster songs you'll dance all night too while there are several slower one's around too. it's a must have from one of the true artists of trance music!.
awesome.......2003-12-09
mauro picotto has gone from tech trance to techno and they are "AWESOME" baguette is now a techno classic and back to cali and new time new place are widely know tech trance tracks
if you don't like his techno songs i would recommend you listen to trance more, as techno is something that's not suitable for beginners, it's like listening to pop, then jumping straight to death metal
Mauro Isn't the Average Producer.......2003-03-16
I've been a Picotto fan for many years now. Often referred to as "The Lizard Man", his works have been recognized for their hard/progressive style. You can never go wrong with a Picotto track in the club(Espcially when Picotto is spinning). You can't go wrong with this album either. This unmixed album contains such brilliant tracks as "Pulsar" and "Like This Like That" which have great beats and document Picotto at his finest. Other tracks like "Baguette" get into the more deeper progressiveness of Picotto. It is an amazing track but I do not reccomend it for the progressive-trance novice or anyone who doesn't like repetitive droning synths and hard drum-cuts. This CD is all of Picotto's greatest songs so you can't go wrong with any. So, give it a shot and open up to the progressive genre.
Good!.......2003-02-01
Well, in the review before me, the poor guy obviously doesnt know much about trance. He listed a song as "we gonna get" or something like that. Unfortunately, apparently, he didnt know that this song is really called "Lizard" Well, ill forgive him for that. Anyway, on to the CD. It is one of the best compilation albums i've heard, incorporating all of Picottos hits from his earlier years. Its unmixed, so anyone that wants to become a CDJ, its a good opportunity to get some GOOD music in the mix. Despite Picottos apparent fixation with animal life (songs Lizard, Iguana, and Pegasus...) he is an excellent DJ, and he is even better live! True trance fans, id advise picking this up as soon as you can!
Stick to trance, Mauro!.......2001-06-11

Picotto is 'da bomb'.......2002-02-16
Mauro picotto is probably one of the most popular and best DJs in the world. He is unique in his sets as he tends to play mostly his own music, and not commercial dance, which is always a good thing. His albums reflect this and he has produced many classics - think 'pulsar 'mixed straight into 'verdi' - pure tunage heaven. Trust me, picotto rules, and when you buy this you should go to a 6 hour set of his at gatecrasher for the full experience!
An excellent cd.......2001-03-29
An album that drives you through another world, all the tracks in the two cds are great. The tracks "Pulsar" and "Komodo" are excellent. The mixes are very well carried in the second album.
