Not Oakie's best........2006-03-23

I just bought this and maybe I'll get used to it, but the Oakenfold disc, although it has high points has too much music using the same note. (not key - note) It has one really bad transition toward the middle of the set. "Yuck, what was that?"
I own 6 or 7 Oakenfold albums (Tranceport, Voyage into.., (but not "Resident") and I still think "Another World" is his magnum opus.
The Nick Warren disc has some good stuff. It's fun to listen to and has some trancey selections, too.

i just got this cd, popped it in the cd player expecting to here some good stuff like, tranceport, voyage into trance, and flouro. what i found was the same stuff over and over through out the whole cd. it was the worst investment in a Paul Oakenfold cd i have ever made, dont let the other reviews fool you. it is pure crap.

A must for any fan........2003-03-15

I recently purchsed this cd after owning quite a few cds of Oakenfold, and this is definitely a MUST have for a fan. At first I was feeling a bit weird about the songs in this cd, but after listening more than once, I knew I would be hooked on it. Maybe it was because these were older tracks recorded a few years ago.
The cd will keep you moving with a beat. The songs, besides being good, are just beautiful....not just good, but beautiful. They each have their own spirit.

cream at its best.......2002-10-03

this cd is 1 of the best in the world produced in 97 when oakenfold and warren where producing some of their special sets in cream and all around the world. its a must have.

Best Trance CD Ever.......2002-09-13

Although Sasha & Digweed are my favorite DJ's of the genre, I still have not heard a CD (well, possibly Sasha's GU Ibiza disc) that can compete with the shear mastery of CA 97. The Oakenfold disc (CD2) is the first full trance CD I've ever heard and to this day is by far the best. I was not too impressed by Nick Warren's work on the album (although his Global Underground: Brazil CD's are exceptional), but Oakie's more than makes up for it. This fully displays his potential as a superior DJ and I'm glad to see the track listing has finally been updated on this site.

It is now 2004 and I still listen to this CD which i bought back in 2001... it's that good.

True, it has a lot of commercial dance tracks, or maybe even pop on it.. but I feel that here in Canada this stuff doesn't get air play on the radio or the mainstream clubs anyways so I could care a less if it's considered pop in England. I have to say, for Seb Fontaine and friends the mixing is nothing special really, but seriously.. throw CD1 on (if you're a trance fan) and you'll love it, Energy 52, Bedrock, Solor Stone..etc. and CD2 has wikkid club tracks ranging from disco house to pounding club.. definate 5 for this CD!

Mismatched CDs.......2002-06-12

This set should really get only 3 stars but based on the fact that CD 1 should really get 6 stars on it's own I'll have to give it a 4. If for no other reason buy it for the trance CD 1. From start to finish it is awesome new trance (was in 2000). However CD 2 is nothing but disco pop that many trance fans loath. If you like both cheesys club disco and good trance then this is the cd for you. Myself I was expecting something a little more along the lines of the previous cream cds. Even the MOS millenium edition did a better job of finding the better dance hits for their 2 disc set. I'm still a cream fan though and have just bought spring 2002, don't let me down Cream!

De Fábula!!...Un gran álbum :o)
Contiene magníficas producciones como el Remix de SASHA en Out Of Control (by Chemical Bros) y una excelente versión de Everytime (by Lustral) que cae en un 'techno acústico' muy digerible que, igual te prenderá en una peda con tus cuates, o en tu compu mientras echas la web :o)

Voy por el Cream Anthems (by Seb Fontaine y otros). Seguro mejorará a este Cream Anthems 2K :o)

False Advertising?.......2001-04-21

CD 1 is some of the best, and certainly equal or better than Anthems or Ibiza. CD 2 is another matter. It is a collection smarmy, bubble gum music, better suited to background music for Saturday Night Fever, or something over which young kids would giggle and gossip. I can not help but wonder who wrote those ebulient reviews which did not appreciate the difference between the two. I have wondered if it was an advertising scam to sell a two CD set when the techno efficianado would have rejected it. Does anyone want to buy CD 2? yuck.

One of the Best Trance Cds Out There.......2001-01-24

This cd was reccomended to me by amazon, so i decided i should right a review. This cd is one of the best ive ever gotten my hands on. The First cd is enough to make you stomp a hole in your floor, containing hits such as Binary Finary "1999" and Alice Deejays "Back in my life" and the second cd will soothe you. Its like having two different cds. Alot of this stuff hasn't been seen in the states. So if you like trance, and you like good music this cd is for you!!!

Dont miss this one!.......2002-09-20

Ok first I would to say that I love trance/dance/house music and have close to 200 mixes from way back in 1995 starting with Oakenfold. The mix on Disc 2 of this set is number 3 on my top 10 list.

Disc 2 is hands down the best progressive trance mix I've ever heard. The first time I listened to it, I turned out the lights, sat in the recliner surrounded by 7 speakers, and before I knew what happened I was taken to another dimension. It's a mix, that once you start listening to it you can't stop it no matter how hard you try. It's really that good. The tracks are in the absolute perfect order and blend together seemlessly and smoothly. I gave a copy to a couple friends and they also said it was one of the best they had heard. One of them even felt guilty about getting a free copy and bought it. Disc 2 is a 6/5 rating.

Disc 1 is also quite good but it's a completely different style then Disc 2. It's much more of a party music upbeat dance compilation. There's only a couple tracks I feel are annoying, like the song Lazy is just plain lame, and overall Disc 1 gets a 4/5 rating.

Disc 2 is worth the price of admission alone. Don't miss this one!

Simply Awesome.......2002-05-08

Unlike many mix albums where all the effort goes into the first disc, leaving the second one to degenerate into uninspired filler, Cream Anthems 2002 is incredible from start to finish.

Many of the mega-favorites of the moment are here: Puretone's saucy, syncopated "Addicted to Bass", Basement Jaxx's jungle freak-out "Where's Your Head At", the pure disco retro of DB Boulevard's "Point of View", and the seemingly omnipresent Push remix of Sinead O'Connor's "Troy".

There's also some interesting stuff: Jamiroquai's "Love Foolosophy" lends an interesting bit of soul to the mix, a different take on Watkin's shoe-gazing classic "Black A.M.", and one of the true gems of the set, an inspired reconstruction of Bowie's "Loving the Alien" from Scumfrog that has to be heard to be believed.

Topping it all off is the chill-out track at the end of the second disc, the simply perfect Solar Stone reworking of Liquid State's "Falling". (Very reminiscent of the Matt Darey smash "Beautiful", also featuring Marcella Williams on vocals.) Not to be missed.

Every single song/tune on CD1 and most on CD2 is fun, high energy and cool!

I have been known to play CD1 continuously at least 30 times per listening session.

Another Annual Hit For Cream.......2002-04-19

There are a lot of compilation albums out there, Cream is consistently one of the best. While one can argue it's mostly a "party" album, everyone likes a party. I am from New York and have enjoyed house music since the late 80s. It's good to know you can take the current party with you with Cream Anthems 2002....

A Must Buy for music fans.......2002-04-10

Both CDs do not skip a beat. Excellent compilations. This is my first Cream CD and I look forward to buying more in the future.

disappointing.......2001-12-11

Most of the time, Cream compilations deliver nice rhythm and thumping beats altogether with decent mixing. However, my experience with 2002 Anthems has been nothing close. First of all, both discs were littered with tracks from previous Cream compilations. Secondly, the remixes of previously included tracks weren't outstanding in my mind (Basement Jaxx - Romeo extended mix, Members of Mayday - 10 in 1 radio edit, etc.) The only interesting track to me was Fergie's remix "meet her at the Love Parade 2001." It's sad to say this, but I didn't feel like it was $US 30 well spent.

In summary, this compilation failed for me on two counts. 1 - fresh new tracks. 2 - fresh remixes. I would recommend renaissance's anthem 2002 3 discs collection over Cream 2002. If you really like to stick to the Cream logo and label, go for the Ibiza 2001 Compilation instead of Cream 2002. You'd be a much happier person. I only purchased this compilation hoping that this is a temporary slip, and to continue support Cream so it doesn't suffer the same fate as Twilo in NYC.

Solid Massive.......2001-12-06

After to listening to both disks, I would say that I am partial to the first disk. Over all I would say it offers very tight mixing. The music is great for the person looking for french influenced global house groove. I am by no means an expert on french house, but with the daft punk samples, and the some female synth type of voices it reminds me of what I consider to be french house.

Disappointment..........2002-12-27

Putting it simply: the tracks lack cohesion, failing to keep one's interest throughout the duration of the album. I simply couldn't resist the urge to hit the SKIP button on the CD player, desperately trying to find the one track that would make the album worth listening to.

This volume smacks of ... commercialism, something one would hear in a Tijuana bar. Sure, it would sound great -- when one is half-conscious and hooted up on tequila shots.

It is the first album and the last one in this series that I will purchase. The tracks on the CD are used on other compilations and mixed in a far more competent manner.

If you're looking for a more serious trance album, one that envelops you, then the Ministry of Sound's Trance Nation series (slightly less commercial) or better still, the Global Underground series, are just the ticket and worth the expense.

This is a very low-quality mix. I have many of these tracks on other comps and they are mixed terribly here. The beat is monotonous and relentless. It isn't a hard-get-up-and-dance beat, nor is it a bop your head at work beat, nor morning chill; it managed to find a middle ground where you don't want to listen to it at any time of the day or night.

This quickly found the bottom of my stack and hasn't moved from that spot to the CD player in a while.

One of Cream's Best..........2000-12-20

I bought this album after I bought Cream Anthems 2000, and I must say that this ablum is the best of the 'Anthems' series to date. CD1 is brilliant. Except for a rather weak beginning, the songs that flow til the end are of the highest quality. With songs like "La," "Beachball," and "Cafe Del Mar," this CD can be used at the party or in the car. I could sit here and name all my reasons for liking this CD, but I'm not. This CD is simply the best collection of Trance songs I have heard from Cream.

Yummy Cream!.......2000-07-23

I bought this CD when it just came out. I bought it planning in advance to have a blast on the New Year's Eve because the first track on CD1 sets you in the Millenium mood right away with constant repeat of "2000" with those hard core beats hitting your brain ruthlessly. This CD is the best Cream CD so far -- none before and after matches it. I lent it to my co-worker for her daughter's party and she could never thank me enough. The kids had the best time. You have to keep in mind that this CD contains REAL CLUB MUSIC. It's not suitable for EVERY party. There is a lot of repetitious, even annoying stuff for some people there but overall it's fantactic, may I say ecstatic music? There are dance hits that are overplayed at clubs like "Music Sounds better with you" by Stardust. I cringe now when I go to clubs and hear them there but amazingly they sound still all right on the CD. It's all thanks to great mixing and arranging by Tall Paul and Seb Fontaine.

The British Big Time.......2000-02-19

For those of you who aren't familiar with the British DJ scene, this CD is about as good an introduction as you can get. This CD gets better and better every time you play it. It has energy, it has mellow moments, it has vocals, and it has some excellent drum lines. After listening to Tall Paul and Seb Fontaine's mixes you will desire more British Trance and Progressive House than the record store can provide. The bongos on CD 1's Mystery Land will keep you bouncing down the road until you fall off the edge of the earth! Worth every penny.

A+++++++, I love this CD! I can't stop listening to it. With tracks from Stardust(Music Sounds Better), Marc Et Claude(La)(probably the phattest song on the CD!), Greece 2000(Three Drives), a smooth Cafe Del Mar, and the craziest song that you just can't help dancing and pumpin your fist to, "let me show you"! All I can say is you won't regreat this purchase.

If you like English progressive house this is a must have to your collection. If I could Throw away all my Cds and keep 5 This would be one of them!!!The songs are fresh and the mixes are amazing.
