Blondie Greatest Hits.......2007-05-19
This is a great cd with all of the hits that you remember..Sound quality is excellent...For some strange reason, have always liked Island of Lost Souls! Buy Today!
Freaking amazing.......2007-04-28
(I'm actually 16, but I'm to lazy to login.)
ANYWAY! This album is amazing. I got this for my 13th birthday when I was in 7th grade, and it was one of the best albums I could have gotten. This album is a good size and has a whole darned lot of songs on it, (all of which, may I add, are great.) I reccomend (sp? lol) this to anybody who has heard Blondie's music before and knows just how great it truly is. Within 3 years of getting this album I now own all of their CDs plus 3 vinyls. It's truly amazing. Blondie are one of the greatest bands in history for sure.
classic.......2007-04-27
This album is by far the greatest. It includes all of the hits from one of the greatest bands. Almost 20 years of great music compacted into one disc. It might be a shame that it is one disc, but the music is as clear as the day the band started.
Blondie stayed true to it's roots, even though time changed.
Rock on to the future.
Mood Altering Music.......2007-04-20
Great collection of Blondie songs.
She's got amazing versatility in her voice.
Her charged spirit is so infectious...she just has no limit to her abilities to vocalize you straight onto the dance floor.
A Great party CD.
A glamourous rock record.......2007-03-09
After listening to the record three times, I found it quite glamourous and chic. The voice of Debbie Harry is quite unique, symbol of an era.

wonderful.......2007-01-19
I like the 80's music. I had one of these same cds but something happened and it wouldn't work anymore. I was happy to see that you had it. Very happy. I am very satisfied - I love listening to it. Thanks!
Another GREAT CD.......2007-01-12
I LOVE 80's music, this is another excellent cd and you will not be sorry for buying it.
Pure 80's.......2007-01-10
This cd has 20 terrific songs from the 80's. Some from 1 hit wonders so it was fantastic to get them on one cd rather than having to buy multiple cds. Also, great to have a cd where I like all 20 songs.
A great 80s CD.......2006-07-12
i am a huge fan of 80s pop and rock and i think that anyone who loves 80s music would love this.

Customer Reviews:
Good for Human Ears.......2007-07-06
This is a great compilation of the Human League's tunes. A number of tunes on here I remember liking on the radio as a kid in the 80s, so it was cool to find them here in one package. The Human League are a little off-beat, but not crazy. Sort of like the B-52s in that respect, except HL is more sythesizer kind of music, not so much rock. Good stuff for your CD player. Here are some particularly fun ones:
Don't You Want Me
Love Action
Fascination
Lebanon - poignant song about that war-torn country
Human
Heart Like a Wheel
Tell Me When - really energetic
All I Ever Wanted - ditto
Empire State Human
As you can tell from the list, there's a bunch of goodies.
Very Good.......2007-03-22
I used to listen to these songs on WLIR, a Long Island Station(that played music that wasn't played on regular radio stations way back in the early to mid-80s. This group has a soothing and memorable sound. My favorites "Mirror Man", "Human" and "Fascination"
Brings back good memories.
WOULD GIVE IT 5 STARS BUT IT IS MISSING ONE KEY SONG.......2006-07-26
Human Leagues "The Very Best of" is fantastic, however it is missing one very key song which is one of my favorites. The song is "Love is All the Matters" which was the third single from the "Crash" CD.
Though it wasn't a big hit in the US it is up there with "Human" as the best in pop synthesized confection.
"Love is All That Matters" is on other compilations, I am just so surprised they left it out.
There's more to Human League than "Human" and "Don't You Want Me".......2005-11-22
While I am not sure if I would say this album HAS to be be a definite part of your collection, even if you are an eighties child, I must say it showed me that there's more to The Human League than the classics they became most famous for: "Don't You Want Me" and "Human". There's a handful of other tracks in here (most of them already mentioned by other reviewers) worth checking out, but most of them don't size up to the level of "classic" that their most famous ones have reached. Overall, this compilation highlights the nice labor of a synth-based pop band that left their mark and will go down in musical history as one of the genre's pivotal acts.
All their hits!.......2005-10-25
This CD brings back memories of the 80's when Human League were in top form. All the recognizable hits from the artists are here including their #1 chart topping hits Don't You Want Me, (Keep Feeling) Fascination. The CD contains other lesser known tracks as well like my favorite track on here Love Action (I Believe In Love). The only problem I have with this release is they should have released a remixes cd or included it with this release. It would be great to hear their hits remixed.

Customer Reviews:
Great musical snapshots from the early 1980s.......2007-07-30
I listened to completely different kinds of music at the time, so I didn't have many memories attached to these songs. The musical quality of the songs is actually suprisingly good, and the mastering has been done well. This is a nice review of hits of the early 1980s. Ten songs per CD isn't much, so there could have been more songs from each year.
U have to own one if you were a teenager in 1984.......2001-12-10
This was during Xmas 1984. One lovely girl from Texas brought to Poland (this is where I live) the 10 cassetes pack with "The Best of Billboard - 1984". I still hear this music. Now I can buy a piece of it.
To anyone who was ...teen in 1984: you have to own this one. Don't tell me there is no music you remember from these years. It must be one at least. Remember the first girlfriend. The first kiss maybe? Yes! That's it!.
I want my MTV!.......2000-06-17
This set takes me back to the early days of MTV. Pac-Man fever, Atari and great times in my life. As a child of the 80s it was a special time and special music. This box set helps take you back from time to time!
this is a great collection of the top songs.......1999-09-16
again billboard has done well in putting together a box set of the best songs of this time period. you will appreciate this gathering of the best. every listening minute of this box set is pure elation. not to be passed up.

God bless punk and new wave. Without them, '80s pop music might well have ended up as vapid and ghettoized as, well, pop music of the '90s. Those late '70s movements were frankly reactionary at heart (seeking to counter what was perceived as the overwrought tendencies of rock's prog and hard-rock elite and calling for a return to the diverse energy of '60s Top 40), but their influences can be felt on nearly every cut of this triple-disc hits anthology, from the Buggles' all-too-prophetic "Video Killed the Radio Star" to the nouveau funk of Kool and the Gang, the Dazz Band, and the Gap Band, to the nascent big-hairdom of Night Ranger ("Sister Christian") and Whitesnake. If you're looking for the roots of alternative rock or obscure college playlist fodder, look elsewhere; this is prime-time '80s pop chart glory, as seen on MTV (over and over and over). Though the songs here cover a breadth of style and genre (if not necessarily substance), there's a remarkable unity of purpose and hook-laden musical accomplishment that's sorely missed. If this collection woefully shortchanges hip-hop, it still underscores a distinctly irony-free era where style admittedly triumphed over substance, as opposed to the '90s, where style caricatured substance. --Jerry McCulley
Customer Reviews:
I love the 80s!.......2007-01-15
This boxed set has all of your favorites from the 80s. I bought it for my sister for Christmas and we listened to it over and over again on New Year's Eve and beyond. Every song brought back a memory from the "old days" and made us smile. What a great way to start the new year!
Gotta Have My 80's.......2007-01-12
GREAT CD, a must have if you are into the 80's music.
This album has a bunch of good songs, but a few sucky ones.......2005-11-05
I luuuuv some of these songs, but some of them suck. hoever, if u like these songs u should totally get it!
essential.......2005-09-16
I mix 80s dance music and the number of times when mixing that I find myself reaching for either this compilation or its companion, "Hit Me With Your 80s Box," is extraordinary. These are two outstanding collections. They are pricey, but worth every penny. For many people, owning these two will be all the 80s music you'll ever need.
Fidelity is outstanding, the tracks are well organized more or less chronologically, and the sequences in which tracks are placed is excellent. The "box" itself in which the 3 CDs come is sturdy, it is easily folded out in part or in whole to access any of the CDs quickly and easily (unlike many multi-CD offerings). Liner notes are extensive and interesting.
This offering is a class act all the way. Highly, highly recommended. 7 stars.
LOVE 80s music.......2005-08-02
I am such an 80s child. This box set is great. Has a lot of the great songs of the 80s.

The second round of sounds from 54 kicks off with Stars on 54--the powerhouse trio of club canaries Ultra Naté, Amber, and Jocelyn Enriquez--breathing life into a house reinvention of Gordon Lightfoot's tepid "If You Could Read My Mind." What distinguishes the 15 subsequent tracks is a sparkling symbiosis of artist, melody, and musical invention. Could anyone but the towering Grace Jones have growled "I Need a Man" with such ferocity? And the syncopated bridge of Bonnie Pointer's "Heaven Must Have Sent You" oozes more juice than most contemporary R&B hits. Thoughtful sequencing, with an emphasis on the oft-overlooked stylistic breadth disco achieved under the best producers and performers, makes this an even better bet than volume 1. --Kurt B. Reighley

funky disco.......2007-07-06
if you like disco music then youll love this cd... all great songs from back in the day....
one song on this soundtrack is MIA.......2007-04-14
ok...what happened to MY favorite song in the movie "54", the soundtrack version of Hang On In There Baby by Johnny Bristol?!?!?! :(
Journey to the pass.......2007-01-30
This Cd was when Dance music was ruling the world. Take a journey back to the time of real music, and not a bunch of noise coming out of their mouths. Music had a beat, a rhythm a style and most of all, it had class. You had to look at your best to be able to get into Studio 54. Today, even with a baseball cap and eating a microphone you can talk sing. On this CD, you had to be the best to be able to Dance, Dance, Dance. The music on this Cd will take you back in time and relive the beauty of the dance floor, lights, and heart pounding bass that MADE you dance all night. This CD does just that.
Disco Boogie - continues..........2007-01-10
I couldn't get enough of the volume 1 that I bought the volume 2. The boogie continues as well as the fun, the groove and the grandiosity of the interpreters. Even though Iam in my 20's this is the kinda of music that I identify with for many reasons. Nowadays, you can find either so many artists playing the same comercial hits, music without "substance" or, worst, that dehumanize women. Disco is all about dance, happyness and fun. An excelent buy!
If you like late 70's dance music.......2006-03-24
This version of the music from 54 is much better than the other sountrack. There are a few really good songs on there, about half of them are pretty good. The rest all sound basically the same.

While Best Of may not be inclusive enough for the avid collector because it focuses more on Blondie's new wave dance hits than on their punk beginnings, songs like "Heart of Glass," "Dreaming," "The Tide Is High," and "Call Me" display the diverse musical styles this band embraced. It's a new wave album, a reggae album, a dance album, a punk album, and a rap album. Rock-solid songwriting and Debbie Harry's sultry vocals hold the CD together despite the stylistic reaches of the tracks. --Beth Bessmer

I like a little of a lot of different kinds of music.......2007-06-20
I enjoy several songs off this CD, but my favorites are (I Am Always Touched By Your) Presence, Dear, Dreaming, and Sunday Girl. I have also come to appreciate In The Flesh, and One Way or Another. I am even intrigued by Atomic, and amused by Tide Is High. I grew up on a mixture of 60s rock and 50s bluegrass and country and western, so maybe it is not so strange that I like this CD. There seems to be a little of this and that, and something for most tastes.

Great if your a fan, still good even if you are not. Has all the songs you put with Blondie
What got me started..........2006-07-02
Well, this was the very first Blondie cd I bought. This cd got me hooked. I'm a HUGE Blondie fan and it's all thanks to this (and "Heart of Glass" my fav song ever). It's cool because it has the popular songs and the not so popular songs that you just love! Awesome cd...
A Good Collection Of Songs.......2005-11-23
I never owned any album by Blondie other than this Best Of, so I don't know that much about the group's studio albums. I put over half of the songs from this album onto my i-pod so I think it is definitely worth getting unless you can find a more complete compilation with newer songs like Maria and Good Boys. Anyways, my favorite tracks are Heart Of Glass, Dreaming, In The Flesh, Sunday Girl, Call Me, and Atomic. Blondie was certainly a unique talent that paved the way for other female artists. Her songs hold up quite well even today!

Excellent CD.......2007-07-30
One of the best movie soundtracks of all time, if you liked the movie as much as I did you will love the feelings the music gives you. Took off a star because it need "Something in the Air" by Thunderclap Newman, that song always reminds me of Kingpin.
Song at beginning of tournament in Reno.......2007-07-14
The song (not on soundtrack) that is playing when Munson throws the first strike at the Reno tournament is called Something in the Air by Thunderclap Newman.
Call out the instigators
Because there's something in the air

Because the revolution's here, and you know it's right
And you know that it's right
We have got to get it together

Quoted From Wikipedia.......2007-07-10
As quoted from Wikipedia to hopefully clear up some confusion about the sound of this new Röyksopp album.
Back to Mine is a series of mix albums, usually (though not always) mixed by renowned DJs or composers of electronic music. The compilations usually feature artists other than the artist compiling the album, and are based on what the artist would play at home after a night out, rather than as part of a nightclub session.
im a little confused.......2007-07-09
yea, im a little confused, i understood this wasn't a new album by royksopp, but then what is it?? a tribute cd??? if so why wouldnt they say that??? the entire album is a complete mish-mosh of electronic sub-genres and it makes no sense. none of this sounds like royksopp to me so im not really that happy.
Perfect CD for a long drive.......2007-06-25
Even though none of the cuts are by Royksopp per se, the cumulative feel of the CD itself is very Royksoppian and equally delightful to the ears. I recently had the pleasure of enjoying this entry into the "Back To Mine" series during a long road trip through the Pacific Northwest. While it was playing, I was in bliss. The boredom of driving was erased with a smile on my face during every moment it was playing. What a perfect CD for the road.
Third time's the charm.......2007-06-03
I was so excited when I went to my mailbox one sunny afternoon to find that the brand new Röyksopp CD, not even available in US stores, had finally arrived. I quickly jumped into my car, ripped open the packaging and sped away on a musical joyride. As the CD played on I thought to myself: ''What is this!? This doesn't sound like the Röyksopp I know and love at all.'' After a 30 minute tour, I pulled back into my driveway sorely disappointed. I put the CD away until the next day and oh what a difference a day can make. The second time I rethought my previous loathing and the third time I was digging more and more of the songs, especially the first track. In the course of a week it had become my favorite current CD. I brought it everywhere I went: to the beach, to bed, to dates, to outings with friends. Those I played it for dug it too and I came to realize that the purchase had been well worth it. Though not Röyksopp in the form I was used to (but then again, the Understanding was a complete departure from Melody A.M.), repeated listenings started to elucidate the some Röyksoppish elements. The first Röyksopp CD took us blissfully into the future, the second grounded us in the present, and the most recent ones takes us into the past in a funky, electro-synth sort of way. So take a chance!
Be careful.......2007-05-04
Man ,oh man. This is the first negative review that I've ever written on amazon, but I really want to warn you about this one. Am I just not hip enough? Or is it the fact that I graduated high school in 1985 and have no desire to listen to bad music of that era? There are good reasons why some musical obscurities are obscure and that's because they should be. It's not that this compilation completely lacks any charms because it's occasionally vaguely charming, but it's mostly bad. It's mixed well, I suppose, so that's cool. I guess the fun of this album is to imagine that the creators of some of this music were actually serious, but I'm personally over imagining myself into actually liking cheesy music. Is it so cheesy that it's cool? If you want to find out for yourself, by all means, check this cheese platter out. In my opinion, a little cheese goes a long way, and this comp certainly goes the extra mile. I hate to use a lame pop cultural expression, but this comp makes me wonder if the previously highly esteemed Back To Mine series has jumped the shark. Avoid this comp, or at the very least, listen carefully before you buy it. No offense to Royksopp, who I've enjoyed in the past, but what were you thinking? Do you actually listen to music like this to unwind? Have you heard any other comps in this series? You've lowered the bar, gentlemen.

As if the genre didn't have enough stigmas to transcend, countless nostalgic compilations have done disco additional disservice by reducing the canon to a handful of obvious tunes trotted out endlessly. Fortunately, by including lesser-known gems like the Gibson Brothers' "Que Sera Mi Vida" next to classics by Sylvester, Dan Hartman, and Chic, the music supervisors of 54 have assembled irrefutable proof that the late '70s weren't the musical wasteland those idiots who torched their Donna Summer LPs claimed. However, the producers apparently weren't entirely immune to the commercial leanings that undermined disco via overexposure; program your CD player to skip the annoying cut-and-paste medley "Studio 54" and Mary Griffin's updated "Knock on Wood," which pales next to Amii Stewart's chart-topping 1979 reading. --Kurt B. Reighley

Disco Boogie.......2007-01-10
Music has those in this CD are not made anymore, definately! If you're a fan of Disco/Funky music then Studio 54 is a MUST! I can't stop playin'it either in my car or in my home appliances. GREAT whenever! It brings back the fun of the late 70's and the mid 80's.

Bubblegum disco , bubblegum cheesy songs.
Avoid it , try Salsoul , Philadelphia Int. etc, if you want to listen to the "real stuff" .
Disco lives!!.......2006-07-10
If you are from the Disco Era or just love that music (and who doesn't?) then you will love this album. Every song brings back so many memories (I am a 70's grad) and I enjoy dancing to every one! It is also a really great CD to listen to while you do your walking to keep you moving and at a brisk pace!!
54 has the jams.......2006-02-25
If you're looking for serious dance music, look no further!this sound track has what you're into.from the first to the last song you'll dance until you bring in the morning! This is a must for all dance/disco lovers!
A fine collection of unpedestrian disco and funk.......2003-12-02
In looking at the selection on Volume I, I notice the songs are taken from 1977 to 1979, accurate enough during Steve Rubell's 15 minutes of fame. After a snippets medley of songs done here and on Volume II, Latin rhythms and keyboards come in with Gary's Gang's "Keep On Dancin'". A slow start, given most of the material here.
Diana Ross's "The Boss" was written by man-wife songwriters Ashford and Simpson, and this is typical of the material she did during her disco period, e.g. "Love Hangover" and the Diana album. However, the Michael Jackson style yelps are a bit much.
"Dance Dance Dance (Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah)" was one of Chic's first big hits from 1977, and introduced innovative instrumentation during a time that the disco genre was being maligned. With the way string-synths and funky beats are crafted into great hooks, I see yet another Prince influence that kind of made its way into LoveSexy.
Talented multiple instrumentalist and light tenor Dan Hartman's "Vertigo/Relight My Fire" is next, replete with vibes, synths, and other whooshy sounds, well worth its eight minute running time. I'm not sure how his version did but Take That took "Relight My Fire" to the #1 in the UK after his death from AIDS. A standout cut here, as long as no one relights the fire to burn more disco records.
Sylvester's "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" should be familiar, with that high-pitched falsetto of his.
"Move On Up" is the Curtis Mayfield song that its author pushed to #12 on the UK charts in 1971, but done by Destination in 1979. Not too much variation, as it maintains that jamming horn section.
"Eye to eye contact, you and me" sing the gravelly soulful Edwin Starr and his singers in "Contact." It shows how someone can do a fun upbeat song like this and do a politically serious song like "War", which he did the year before "Contact."
Spacey synths and disco synths with a slight bluesy riff on the chorus, and a gospel-tinged chorus that sways with the music, that's Mary Griffin's "Knock On Wood" for you.
"I got my mind made up, come on, you can get it, get it girl, anytime" raps Instant Funk, to which a woman goes "Say what?" incredulously and then "tonight is fine" as the response. Instant Funk, huh? So, how many cups of water do we add? There's already been some disco added, I can tell you.
Odyssey's "Native New Yorker" with its lush strings, is one of those romantic, dance by the fireplace numbers like "Love's Theme" from Love's Unlimited Orchestra, though not as gushy.
The Gibson Brothers' unison shout of "if you should go" in "Que Sera Mi Vida" and electric keyboards echoes the Village People. Strong soul vocals in the verses.
Rose Royce's lush ballad, the UK Top 3 "Wishing On A Star" is the sweetest song here and Yvonne Fair has the best voice of any of the artists on this collection. Clearly they were riding on the crest following the success of the Car Wash soundtrack.
What makes this worthwhile is that for the most part, it doesn't pick the well-tread disco standards found on the Pure Disco compilations but other merit-worthy selections from that era that people may have heard from somewhere but forgot who did them. A superlative collection.
