Mix creators are always best judged by their ease with shift and overdrive, and on this double-disc effort, Dave Ralph officially confirms his metamorphosis from a Toyota MR2 to a sleek and sophisticated Porsche. Slipping effortlessly through the likes of Laurent Garnier and Oliver Klein, Ralph moves his brand of trance like a driver in one of those sleek four-wheeled beauties on a coastal highway.

Naturalized is an airy compilation designed to transport listeners to a world where rivers flow, hills roll, and mountains climb. Even Ralph's own tribal trance intro, "Islands of Light," invokes a sense of serenity; it's a mature and comfortable introduction to the progressive energies that lie within. Indeed, Piece Process wastes no time with the hypnotic, techno-tinged "My Mind Is Going (Original Mix)," while Indart, Wally, and Kucho put heads even further above the clouds with the aptly named "The Devil." The shuddering backbeat that holds up the melancholic "Ozone" from Planisphere is joyous stuff, while Fatboy Slim's fun, sweaty ass-shaker "Star 69" folds perfectly into Garnier's dramatic, sax-tinged "The Man with the Red Face." By the last two cuts, Fragma's "You Are Alive" and Junkie XL's "Sinycho", Ralph's mix peaks. The record's only flaw is that it leaves the listener begging for a third disc. --Steffan Chirazi

5 out of 5 stars UNDERGROUND.......2003-10-04

Extract maximium enjoyment by this amazing work by Dave Ralph when listening on dark quiet cold nights. This is an underground work and something that will stand the test of time as more people see this album for what it really is. THIS ALBUM TAKES TOP HONORS OUT OF MY ENTIRE RECORD COLLECTION! FOR ARTWORK AND ORIGIONALITY AND CONCEPT.

4 out of 5 stars Don't listen to bad reviews..,...from "certain Djs" LOL.......2002-11-09

Altough...I am Digweeds and Deep Dish fan...i really enjoy this one from Dave Ralph..I don't think it is flawless, flowing and groovy like my favorites..still its much better than most of it out there

4 out of 5 stars Just Plain Dave Ralph.......2002-10-24

I do have to say that this CD is definitly lacking the UMPH that "Tranceport 2" had. But then again, you have to think about this for a while. Davey Boy just decided to change his style a little bit. If you like the "Deep Trance" or the "Dark Trance", then this is definitly the CD for you.

2 out of 5 stars He's good live. He's horrible for compilations.......2002-06-25

Do you have the "Transport 2" comp he did a while back? Did you like it? Then by all means get this then. But it does take the darker dirtier path of prog house though. It takes time to get going. It doesn't bang up. And for some reason the sound quality for this is horrible. you got to turn up the volume more than usual just to get some bass on it.

1 out of 5 stars SIMPLY BAD.......2002-02-21

First off, I am a DJ and consiter myself well versed in electronic music, especially trance. That said,

I've seen dave ralph on a good few occasions(he is resident DJ at a club I frequent). He has spun some excellent live sets, however this album lacks that certian UMPH. In my opinion, this album is a bit too progressive. If I ever saw anyone spin this set somewhere live, I think I would either fall asleep from boredom, or vomit or something.

If you like mad progged out (very chill) trance, then this album is for you. However, if you are like me and like music that pumps you up and makes you move, then save your money and buy something like George acosta - Release AM edition.

Just my 2 cents.
