I watched the movie, and remembered it BECAUSE of the music. Superb !!! Exquisite combination of cello and oboe makes the central theme (and track) something to be remembered for your whole life. I really recommend it !

This, in my humble opinion, is one of Glass' most ingenoius works. Set to the athmospheric surreality of 19th century london, this album seamlessly juxtaposes traditional melodic harmonies with colorations that are distinctively Glass. I ould recommend this record to any audionphile or Glass aficionado

Mellow Ministering Melodies.......2001-08-16

Allen & Allen blend the mellow contemporary jazz flavor with both traditional hymns and new anointed compositions. I can dig it!!!! This CD is excellent for meditating or quiet study. I especially like "When We Praise". "Jesus, The Mention Of Your Name" also ranks as one of my favorite cuts. The Kibble Brothers, from Take Six, show up on one track, adding their unique jazz signature sound. Not quite as funky nor as bold as Ben Tankard, yet they do what fits them. Love Sweet Love is a solid addition to the collection of any spirit-filled jazz connisseur!

Defenitely taking cue from the bands that have spawned and taken from them. Like in eye of the storm keeping their sound but integrating what they have learned since. Symphonic with an shoegaze feel. (Red Sparrowes who have members of neurosis.)Now when i say shoegaze. Like warm layers of noise with simple fractured chords wrapping you in sheets. Beautiful stuff.

Album Description

The music of Brazil's most famous classical composer, Heitor Villa-Lobos, is as vast and colorful in scope as the rain forest and traditions he so dearly loved. There are a number of recordings of his irresistible piano music, but none played with more authentic dash and understanding than this, and with a more consistently attractive program of selections. Clélia Iruzun grew up in the colorful hustle of Rio de Janeiro, beginning her piano studies at age four. She continued her studies in London at the Royal Academy of Music, and in Paris with a student of Claudio Arrau. Iruzun has won many awards in Brazil and in Europe, including the Tunbridge Wells Piano Competition in the UK. At an early age, her stunning playing caught the ear of prominent figures in music, including Francisco Mignone, who wrote a Suite especially for her. Clélia Iruzun has concertized in her native land, Sweden, China and the Wigmore Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. She appears regularly in radio and TV broadcasts in South America, France, Spain, China and the UK, and has so far released seven CDs ranging from Mendelssohn to Villa-Lobos.
