Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars An intersting mix of mostly obscure trax.......2004-11-02

I'll admit upfront that I like the Cab's later works MUCH less than their earlier, abrasive 'industrial' sounds. That being said, this collection finds them moving away from said abrasive sound towards a more acessable vibe. There is a lot of fine music here, but as a whole it doesn't work that well for me. "Lost Possibilities..." that closes out disc 1 has one of the most annoying beatbox rhythms ever, I guarantee a headache to anyone who listens to all 10 min of it. Why three versions of "Sex, Money, Freaks"? To be fair, the remix of "Drink Your Poison" is nice and the live tracks show what could (and could NOT be done)live. Not a set for a neophyte.

5 out of 5 stars early electronica.......2003-12-29

this is my intro to cabaret voltaire, and its not really a album, more of a compilation of rarities, b-sides, and a live disc. i like what i hear,so that tells me that when i get an actual full length album, it will sound 2wice as better. i like the drums, and the synth work, along with the bass as well. very moving music, and i can see people dancing to this as well. has a cool booklet, and some interesting info. have fun. peace out.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent compilation.......2002-03-10

Superb - contains some excellent remixes and probably their best track ever - automotivation (from Gasoline in youe eye video I think). Get it !

5 out of 5 stars Good collection of archive material from Sheffield's finest........2002-01-19

Definitely a release for fans of the group, newer listeners should go for 'Original Sound of Sheffield' first.

Featuring some tracks never released before and others previously only available on vinyl, this has to be a good deal. Highlights include 'Automotivation', 'Drink Your Poison', 'Shakedown' and 'Diffusion'.

The third disc is a live CD featuring CV in concert in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1990. It mainly features material from 'Code' and 'Groovy, Laidback and Nasty'. Sound quality is OK, but it is, nonetheless, a good thing to have in your CV collection.

An overdue collection from one of the true innovative electronic groups.

4 out of 5 stars Monumental.......2001-12-16

A "blinding" (in Marc Almond's words) 3-CD compilation of mostly unreleased or new to CD material from the Cabs' "middle period" - the 80's. Disc 1 and Disc 2 feature remixes and b-sides while the third one features live material from 1990. I must admit the live recording is of amazing quality. Virgin/EMI is highly commendable in making this box set available to the fans, to whom this is nothing short of a dream come true. Watch out for the 12" anthology to be released very soon..
