Fun, Friendly Country/Rock.......2000-06-26

These boys (and you pretty much have to think of them as boys, since they seem to wear both playfulness and sincerity as badges of honor) crafted a collections of uniformly excellent tuneful compositions for their first release. Mr Williams and Amazing Delores back to back are two of the most interesting character studies that you will ever encounter and both will make you want to jump up and dance around the room. If you like music that sounds as though it was crafted by people with personalities, not machines or corporations, then you should give this disk a try. It is a huge favorite of mine.

A great underground hip-hop album.......2006-01-25

Contrary to some of the other reviews I really enjoyed this album. The lyrics are very descriptive of real life, not necessarily some ghetto storybook like most rap nowdays from kids who haven't even experienced life yet! The artists were in their late 20's when this album was recorded and they wrote songs about life at that age, their children and family...real life, captured in a thought provoking manner. The production I really enjoyed and thought they did a good job of mixing it up. Definitely worth checking out!

This album is truly revolutionary. For hip hop artists to adress real issues through music does not happen very often, but here it does. These are smart musicians, not out to make big bucks, but out to educate and maybe even open some people's eyes to what is going on in the world. Plus, the music is phat - it should be a part of every DJ and hip hop record collection.

we first bought this cd when our daughter was a new born. we played it many times during her first year. it was a favorite of her and of us, her parents. the songs are folksy, catchy,and meaningful, as well as playful and full of life!!

we have recently been listening again to the cd, now that our daughter is 4 1/2. many of the stories and songs are our families anthems.

A refreshing escape from the endless barage of sticky-sweet pop we are constantly acosted by. Stone Soup blends traditional rock with some great saxaphone work, tweaking the mix to create something original and thoroughly enjoyable. If you want the same old thing, go somewhere else. But if you want to give a local band a break and hear some great tunes at the same time, check these guys out.
