Early experimental electro new wave gets a reissue.......2007-07-12

Gina X was a blip on the new wave radar, mostly because much of the music is extremely experimental electro, and the fact that much of it is not in English--ad the title of this CD aptly recognizes. Quirky female vocals can easily be compared to Nina Hagen or Lene Lovich and the music has hints of a diversity of new wave acts from early B-52s to Gary Numan. With 80s synth dance producer Zeus B. Held as part of the band line-up, the 4 Gina X Performance CDs are must haves for 80s lovers. Each CD will definitely have a couple of songs that you would like to include in a complete eclectic 80s mix.

This is one of Gina X Performances most danceable releases, and is it worth it simply for the 6 minute synth pop cover of the Beatles' "Drive My Car"--it brings to mind Devo's cover of "satisfaction" or the new wave classic 'da da da' by Trio. Also on this CD is the minor new wave radio hit "Harley Davidson", which is sadly not also included in its 7" English language version as a bonus track.

Unlike the other Gina X CDs, the bonus tracks here actually remixes of tracks on THIS album, but these bonus mixes are predominantly just instrumental versions, and will have most listeners jumping back to the vocal versions for the full effect.
