Bossa Nova not just for babies.......2005-09-21

Anyone who like Bossa Nova will love this. I actually bought it at the Airport in Greece because I'm a big Bossa Nova fan and my two your old loves the Disney Hi Ho song and his babysitter is Brazilan so.....
Anyway, it turned out to be fun and soulful and a great listen even if one doesn't have a two year old or a Brazilan Babysitter. It will make you smile and tap your feet.

A Crassic!.......2001-12-20

Who else would dream up stuff like this but a Japanese obsessive? And who else would buy it? (It's walking off the shelves in Tower Records Shibuya)

That said, this album is really kinda funky and I like it a lot. Worth the dough just to hear Nakamura sing the immortal line "A sweep is as rucky as rucky can be."

But it's not all sung in twisted Japanese Engrish. The Brasilian partners he records sing the songs translated into Portugese. These guys are the genuine Bossa Nova article, lemme tellya.

The only reason it doesn't earn five stars is that Nakamura concentrates on the new pop movies (who the hell wants to hear the love song from Mulan?) and not the classics everyone remembers. And if you're looking for some exploration of the deeper aspects of Disney's music, try the compilation album "Stay Awake".

But the bossa nova credentials can't be faulted, if that's what you're after.
