Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The album that changed my opinion of hip hop.......2004-01-25

I had never been into hip hop. My first listening to this album was a deeply moving experience. I have listened to it about 20 times now, and it is, plain and simple, one of the best albums I have heard in my 30+ years of listening to all kinds of music (jazz and classical included). It is a phenomenally rich mix of hip hop and most everything else (pop, folk, sort-of-Celtic, jazzy influences, etc.) The melodies woven around the hard hip hop rhythms are subtle and beautiful. If you can stand the rhythms, you will find this album breathtaking. The "rapping" is amazing, and the sweet singing of the female vocalist is the highlight of this album.

5 out of 5 stars Innovative.......2003-08-29

There is no comparison to Sackcloth Fashion. They are innovative beyond belief. This group should be at the forefront of mainstream music but then again that is how creative artists get their creative wells dried up so maybe it is a good thing that they are in the underground. This album is like a slice of heavenly listening pleasure. It moves back and forth between styles and sounds with out ever sounding akward. Most artist can't even do that when they stick to one style. Sackcloth has some how mastered several genres and transformed it into innovative hip hop music that is begging to be heard by the masses. Any fan of music could find something to enjoy on this artistic album. Pick it up!
