4 out of 5 stars Not bad at all.......2001-12-15

In my delivery, I had the Annual 2002 3-disc set, and the 2001 Spring Annual together. I wrote how I felt about the 2002 Annual (just below average cds). However, this one put me in a much better mode after the disappointment. The first disc kicks it off like a club would. Then, just when it gets going, you pop in the second disc, and it really keeps it pumping. I was impressed.

5 out of 5 stars BUY THIS CD!!!!.......2001-08-17

This CD is hot!!! Will definitely get you going!!! Everyone I've played it for, loves it! JUST BUY IT and you will know what I'm talking about!

5 out of 5 stars Best overall Dance Compilation of 2001.......2001-08-09

For starters, CD 1 is trance/house, CD2 is definitely HARDER. This is definitely one of three albums from Ministry Of Sound which ABSOLUTELY KICKS ...!!! It is as good as the Clubber's Guide To Ibiza 2001 and that is my favorite MOS CD!! I own this 2 CD set, and I sometimes opt for cuts off of the CD rather than the vinyl... There are that many good cuts! Some of the artists: Jakatta, Rui DaSilva, Hatiras, Thrillseekers, Cortina, Norman Bass, Warp Bros, Public Domain and more... As someone on the review boards said before... if you had to throw out all your CDs except for 5, this one would be a keeper!! GO GET IT!!

5 out of 5 stars simply the best.......2001-06-11

i will say this is a worth to get cd......great songs.....many that will blow ur mind......some great hard trance and groovy/vocal house......touch me by rui de silva.....is a great tune....its good to listen too when u come back from a night of clubbing.....all i have to say is buy this cd!!!

4 out of 5 stars CD 2 is well worht it.......2001-06-01

CD 1 is really just OK

CD 2 is probably one the of the better CD's I have heard in a very long time. Captures plenty of energy - this CD is like a great saturday night out at the club where the DJ really does his job. Great mixing, great track selection.

5 out of 5 stars Great to listen to over and over .........2006-08-30

This is one of Ministry's best compilations .. the mixing was great and the track selection was very impressive. The standouts on Disc 1 are Hear My Name ((remixed by Armand van Helden which is soo better than Linus Loves)), Rocking Music, Give It Away, It's All Vain, Put Em' High, Touch Me, and All Night. Disc 2 was just as great, with a darker trance beat .. Disc 2's standouts were Rock Your Body, Rock ((which is by my fave dj Ferry Corstennnnn <3)), Satellite, As The Rush Comes, Holding Onto Nothing, Back To Basics, Wings Across The Universe, Kiss In Shadows ((remixed by dj Tiesto, of course)), and Sweetest Dreams ((remixed by Ferry Corsten)). All they needed to do was add Armin van Buuren and it would have been a star studded album lol .. anyways, it's highly recommended!!

2 out of 5 stars 1-2 Stars, Terrible. So many songs and only 3 decent tracks out of 40!! Don't buy this! Disc 2 has ZERO worthwhile songs.......2006-08-12

The title says it all. There are two-three good songs on disc one which you may already own, otherwise the remianing songs are terrbile, so bad I didn't bother to rip any on CD 2... I only ripped a few tracks on CD 1. Out of 40 songs, this is a waste of money. There are few CD's I can write this bad of a review, but these are some of the worst dance songs and mixes in a long time. SKIP THIS! Ugh......

4 out of 5 stars Deserves a second listen.......2006-02-28

When I first bought this album I bought it for two reasons: 1 for "Give It Away" by Deepest Blue and 2 for 4 Strings "Back To Basics". Upon my first listen I found that only a handful of songs actually appealed to me. For the most part all of the songs seem to invoke an 80's electro vibe which I didn't find attractive. We've been there already, why try to revisit it? It was when I fell in love with Magnolia's "It's All Vain" that I actually decided to revisit this cd and listen to it all the way through. What I found was actually pleasant and grew on me. There's maybe about six songs worth remembering on the first disc but the second is a gold mine of awesomeness. Get ready to groove with these great tunes!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing........2004-06-20

When I saw the commercials for this CD while watching the Ministry of Sound live online 'TV' broadcast, I was a bit cool in terms of interest. When I spotted it at the store a few days ago, it was the newest thing in stock - So heck, I'd try it out. Popping the CD into my player, I was amazed. I like the 2004 Annual (The UK Edition) alot, but this one is even better. 'Plug it in' by the Basement Jaxx is a definate highlight, But I also found 'As the Rush Comes' by Motorcycle, 'Rock Your Body Rock' by Ferry Corsten, and 'Sunny' by the Boogie Pimps especially good - But, they're just the best of the best, so don't take my praise of those tracks as implying that the rest of them are bad. All in all, this is a great Annual with some stuff you've heard before, and some that's new. Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 stars Pop Music Hits (CD1) and 2004 Night-Out Music (CD2).......2004-05-12

The Ministry of Sound has mixed things up again with the Annual Spring 2004. If you like Pop Music, CD1 will find you in a state of reminscence. The first song, Sunny, by the Boogie Pimps is taken from Boney M's version in 1976. Skipping ahead to Touch Me by Angel City (feat. Lara McAllen) brings the Cathy Dennis song back from 1991. It's hard to believe that Fast Car by Tracy Chapman was released in 1988, but oh well. I guess DJ Sharon O'Love does a decent mix. Other songs in CD1 try to bring Disco, 80's and 90's Pop into focus and, for most intents, is done well.
For those of you prepping for a night club outing, CD2 excellently delivers. Ferry Corsten's mix of robotic vocals kinda sets the tempo with Rock Your Body, Rock, but Oceanlab's Justine Suissa brings back the sexy female-vocal songs with Satellite. Jes, the female singer of Motorcycle, follows with track 3 in As the Rush Comes. Excellent start for CD2 ! I would go through each song in CD2, but you'll just have to hear the CD for yourself. One more note, though: Tiesto's remix of Kiss in Shadows for the group M-Box (feat. Tiff Lacey) continues to prove him as Holland's #1 DJ !

    Album Description

With THE summer hit of the year: Bob Sinclar's "World, Hold On!" (and official theme of the FIFA World Cup 2006), it took a while for The Annual Spring 2006 to finally be released.

However, this outstanding compilation is back and better than ever! As usually, Europe's biggest tracks and hottest trendsetters crowd together on these two CDs. The best house tunes and all awesome electro tracks come straight from the turntables of the ruling DJs. This DJs brew unites the best of both worlds: the world of pop is represented by the likes of Tarkan, Moby, and The Streets, while the world of club music includes such undisputed stars as Röyksopp, Tomcraft, M.A.N.D.Y., Annie, and Disco Boys. The fresh but already legendary band The Knife has contributed some exclusively remixed stuff.

All these spanking new tracks are spread across both discs in a flawless mix to leave you speechless!

    Customer Reviews:

    1 out of 5 stars A dissapointing compilation.......2005-03-01

You shouldn't buy this compilation, quite frankly, it sucks. A mix of cheezy dance and lazy trance wich makes for a boring evening. Sure there a few good songs in it (like Crazy, sexy, marverlous from paffendorf) but the vast majority of the songs range between average and mediocre or falls into the played out category (like "get down saturday night" from oliver cheatham wich is basically the same song as "make love".

    3 out of 5 stars It's OK.......2003-11-25

Not the best, not the worst, a couple of new songs here and there, a couple of nice trancey ones. I've heard better CDs

3 out of 5 stars You Can Live With or Without It........2003-04-14

"The Annual 2003" is a mix of the good, the bad, and the cheesy in dance music. True to its formula, Ministry of Sound takes 40 songs, trims them down to 3 minutes or less, and crams them into two CDs. While some of the material is good, cruising through a whopping 40 tracks on two 80-minute CDs is a sometimes exhausting exercise that proves that less is often more. But there are highlights in the form of DJ Sammy's cover of the Don Henley hit "Boys of Summer," Royksopp's frisky "Eple" (the track was released in 2001 but appears on a 2003 CD anyway); and Oliver Cheatham's "Get Down Saturday Night," a retro 70's jam that ends up being the lone grain of soul on these two CDs. Elsewhere, we get samples of hyper trance and house that ranges from the serviceable to the forgettable. And what's with the abundance of 80s covers? Soda Club's "Heaven Is a Place on Earth" works fine, but Novaspace's cover of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" is so cheesy it should be off limits to the lactose intolerant. The verdict? Not a bad CD collection, but not a very good one, either. On a scale of 1 to 10, "The Annual Spring 2003" rates a 6.

              4 out of 5 stars There's a Party Up In Here!!.......2002-07-28

Wanna get a dance compilation that's jumpin' but has none of the cheese you'd find in American discs like "Totally Dance?" Then get Ministry of Sound's 2002 Annual, which is two discs of some of the most popular international club hits. The first disc consists of Eurodisco and some light touches of house, while Disc Two has fast-paced, energetic trance. My favorite disc is definitely the second one, which is the more consistent and engaging of the two. "Will I" by Ian Van Dahl, "Resurrection" by PPK, and the long forgotten SNAP! are among the better cuts that make up this disc. Disc One also stands out thanks to "Where's Your Head At" by Basement Jaxx, the Eurodisco of DB Boulevard's "Point of View," and a really interesting cover of Corey Hart's "Sunglasses at Night" by Tiga and Zyntherius. Unfortunately, Disc One wears out its welcome by the final quarter, with lesser tracks that stray off course and threaten to drag the disc down. That gripe aside, it's hard to dislike this release. Ministry of Sound has put out quite a number of overall solid collections, and the Annual 2002 is no exception.

              4 out of 5 stars Ministry delivers!.......2002-05-07

MOS delivers another double CD just in time for the Summer clubbing kick offs and they don't fail to disappoint.

In a compilation market with little differentiation in track listings, MOS deliver many first time comp releases.

CD 1 follows a good tough funky house route, with highlights being the disco filtered Love will set you free (Ibiza smash I sense)and Shakedown - funky stuff indeed. Played this CD at a party on Sunday night and it outlasted all the usual cynical taunts to switch the CD so it must have some staying power.

CD2 then typically beefs the beats up further and meanders through a stomping trance odyssey that, despite the short mixes commonly found on compilations, still creates a whirlwind journey. Track highlights on CD 2 include, Peran Good - Times, Coma Nova - Wishful thinking (already pre-ordered for my vinyl collection) and the stunning Aquanauts Deep Sea.

If you buy your compilations to get a taste for what's going to be big this coming summer, then MOS Spring 2002 is as good as they come and points to another year of strong dance music capable of crossing over into the mainstream charts.

              Enjoy
