4 out of 5 stars If you already like their stuff, this is a good one to have..........2007-07-09

But if you don't, this won't convert you. Once you get past the couple of "club" hits, the rest of the album is just more of the same. Daft Punk fans already know this, and like it, but newer fans will be wondering what's going on.

4 out of 5 stars Almost perfect........2006-11-01

To me, Daft Punk represents the best in electronic/house music. For novices this is a great way to get into a band that I feel is often overlooked. Perhaps because electronic music nowadays isn't really being listened to that much. Back in the mid to late 90's electronic music acts such as Daft Punk, Prodigy, Chemical Brothers and Basement Jaxx were flying high because the music was in style, today it's sort of an acquired taste. Given most of these bands material of late isn't up to par, including Daft Punk themselves. Before 'Human After All' came out I honestly didn't think these guys were capable of making a less than stellar album. I was proven wrong.

For all the backlash 'Human After All' gets it's not by any means terrible, but just simply not as good as Homework and Discovery. However, the sound of a dwindling fanbase must've been deafening to the record label. So the time was right to release this 'best of' compilation in order to reel in new fans since the "old" ones probably have gone off to greener pastures ( i.e. LCD Soundsystem). We get introduced to a lost classic from the earliest stage of the band, Musique, a b-side to the first single 'Da Funk' and a pleasant surprise to those who haven't heard it. The next batch of songs are very familiar to fans and somewhat to fairweather fans, now my only gripe is something I noticed others have had a similar complaint about, and that is "why isn't Digital Love and Aerodynamic included?". Now those two tracks were singles and to me the fact that those are not there takes away one star from this rating. Since you want to give novices a chance to get the "best of" of a band, you must put in the "best tracks", makes sense right? I would've taken out Human After All and Something About Us, basically because the quality of the previous tracks outweigh these. A nice addition is the inclusion of three remixes from the Daft Club release, good choices too. Overall, you have pretty much the meat and potatoes of an excellent group that deserves better recognition and this proves why.

4 out of 5 stars Daft funk........2006-10-18

Some may ask why, but I say bring on a collection like this. Why not? This is primo music. Is it techno or electronica, who cares, just dance and enjoy. My biggest complaints are, why six tracks from "Homework", and only three from "Discovery"? Also, some of these songs like "Rollin' & Scratchin'" and "Robot Rock" are SO repetitive (I know that's the point), they get old by the three minute mark. Yet, other tracks like "Around The World" and "One More Time" are perfection, hence the classics they are. One other disappointment....where the hell is "Digital Love"? That song should be here before many of these. Still, these are all good at the least, and it's a good sampling of their three albums. Toss on a few remixes to choice tracks like "Da Funk" and "Human After All", and you've got a collection even a robot could love. There's also a deluxe edition of this with videos, but hey, that's what Youtube is for.

5 out of 5 stars The best of the best.......2006-06-29

If you're looking for a comprehensive greatest hits collection from daft punk then this is it! Yeah greatest hits can be all about cashing in but for casual daft punk fans this is ideal! You get all their "best" songs in one shot plus some little additional remixes. It is true that perhaps the track the music sounds better with you should've been added but hey! no greatest hits is perfect.

2 out of 5 stars Daft Cash-In.......2006-05-03

Let's set it out right from the start: Daft Punk have never been the most prolific dance act. Where Mylo could create a rich triple album of his remixes and hits from the last two years alone, Daft Punk's picks from three studio albums over the last decade barely fill a hits collection. This could have something to do with the absurd and mysterious French duo, consisting of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, spending as much time on cartoon productions and furniture design as they have on musical output, although some doubters might suggest the band are simply lazy or have lacked fresh ideas since they burst onto the scene in 1996 with Homework. The muted response to Human After All's release in 2005 certainly indicated the latter may be true, although rumours persisted the album was just an expensive practical joke from the enigmatic pair. Daft Punk's record label Virgin sure don't seem to be laughing, rush-releasing Musique Volume 1 1993-2005 with no new music and little to entice Daft Punk's long-term fans to purchase this collection aside lesser-known remixes if Ian Pooley, Gabrielle and Scott Grooves. While classics such as One More Time, Around The World and Da Funk make up the dozen Daft Punk songs included here, this disc is so light on personal victories that it's surprising Thomas Bangalter's hit under the Stardust nom de plume, Music Sounds Better With You, wasn't dusted off and included here. Even a remix disc would have been a worthy addition, but as it stands this collection is punkin' daft. Memo to Air - don't make the same mistake as your froggy countrymen.

5 out of 5 stars 5 Stars, But...............2007-06-16

If you own ATB's previous cds, you'll already have many of the tracks. It is nice to have his hits all on one cd though. in this compilation, it's cool to see how ATB's sound has evolved over time.

5 out of 5 stars Right on par.......2007-01-08

I wasn't an ATB fan before but I had discovered 'Long way home' through Pandora and it just filled my soul so much that I had to get the song. After sampling the rest of the cd, I decided to buy it and haven't been disappointed. It's in constant rotation on my playlist with the following track ranks:
5 Stars: Long way home, I don't wanna stop, Don't stop
4 Stars: Long way home (orig mix), trilogie pt. 2, Ecstasy, Hold you, Let u go,
3 Stars: Humanity, Let U go (reworked), believe in me, take me over, here with me, marrakech, In love with the DJ, You're not alone, 9pm Till I come, Believe in me (DJ Atoine)

and the other 5 tracks are 2 stars.

That's a pretty good ratio for a 17 track cd. Definitely worth it!

5 out of 5 stars One of the better albums I've bought in the last few years.......2007-01-07

I have over 1,000 CDs and this is one of the few that I can listen from beginning to end, over and over again. Several songs are classics in my opinion: "Hold You," "You're Not Alone," "Ecstasy," "In Love With the D.J.," "Long Way Home." If you're not familiar with ATB, this album is a great introduction.

5 out of 5 stars ATB's Best.......2006-04-29

Wow this cd is great it has 6 brand new songs one remix and all atb's greatest it cannot be beat.
Humanity,Believe in Me, Trilogy Pt.2, Take me over, Far Beyond, and here with me are the six new songs are the are in the same ranking as Ecstasy, in quality. these songs are so full of sound that even a person who doesnt normaly like techno would be impressed. The new mix of Let U Go is great for trance lovers it is more acoustic and slower than the original version.
After those first seven songs come Ecstasy, Marrakech and In Love With the DJ. each has a very full sound to it (and is some of the best quality iv heard in a long time).
And after that comes the classic ATB songs such as Dont stop, the summer, 9 PM (till I come) and so on. this cd is great for those first time listeners or for those that are hudge ATB fans. I completly support buying this CD.

5 out of 5 stars Great best of,..........2006-01-29

I really enjoy the sound of ATB. This cd gives you the songs that we know from the radio plus a few new songs which I really enjoyed. I definitely recommend this CD if you are a fan of ATB. It's a mix some trance and house with a pop edge too.

4 out of 5 stars Wonderful surprise.......2006-03-23

I had never heard of this group until I ran accross a review of their music in a magazine I was reading. I decided to take a chance and...WOW! I loved it! Great music with a wonderful mix of jazz and R&B. I am definitly looking into buying more of their music.

5 out of 5 stars The Vocals. The Beats. The Blank CD........2005-12-26

Great companion to their earlier Remixes CD. Terrific vocal performances. Beats that stay interesting. Change-ups that crackle with energy. All with a deep, chill attitude and unmistakeable groove.

But where Jazzanova really breaks new ground is the inclusion of a blank "DIY" CD-R. The accompanying text invites you to either: use that blank CD to rip a copy for a friend(!!!); or to go online, download some special Jazzanova tracks and burn 'em to the CD-R for yourself. Now that's cool...

5 out of 5 stars The Videos Make It Worth It.......2006-08-29

I am the worlds biggest Daft Punk Fan. Having all thier previous work, even the 'hard to find' stuff, this CD was of no use to me other than for nostalgic purposes... that is until I learned of this edition, which includes a special DVD with all of thier music videos to date. Right there I knew I had to own this gem. Worth the buy for the unique videos, especially Around The World.

I do have to point out that the quality of the video could have been better, as I have seen Daft Punk music videos on DVD (like the collection of video from Micheal Gondry) that were higher quality, so I know it isnt the video itself, but none the less its only something a videophile would really notice.

4 out of 5 stars Musique to the ears.......2006-05-01

To the uninitaited, Daft Punk's around for more than a decade or so though it's really in 1997 when they exploded with Homework that the dance/electronic world sat up and took notice. With their unique brand of French electronic flavor, the duo were able to dazzle their audiences.

Mixing hard rock beats with pulsating electronic basslines and vocordered vocals, Daft Punk brings a whole new experience which includes Alive, Da Funk, All Around The World and Musique. In 2001, following the success of Homework, the duo finetuned their sound and brought in some retro-funk on Discovery to their electronic stable. First single, One More Time, with its catchy chorus and retro-disco sounds immediately caught attention. Tie-up with Japanese anime Interstellar 5555, singles such as Digital Love and Aerodynamic further secured their place in the dance/electronic world with stunning visuals accompanied.

Last year's Human After All was a disappointment, having being completed in 6 weeks and sounding a lot like a miscast record of leftovers except Make Love and Emotion were two of the best songs they have written.

Musique Vol. 1 is like a pitstop of Daft Punk's wide repertoire, giving casual fans an opportunity to try the band out. However, as essential with any money-making scheme, Virgin opted to leave the excellent Digital Love and Aerodynamic from Discovery off.

Then what's left for diehard fans on this special limited edition are the videos. 12 videos of which one is a remix also leaves out the above said two singles. Still, it's a visual treat and a collection to hold. (B+)

5 out of 5 stars Harder, ALWAYS Better, ALWAYS Faster, ABSOLUTELY Stronger.......2006-04-25

Daft Punk is one of those groups that is able to combine techno and electronic music into the simplest forms of music that tops even some of the hardest dance tunes (examples of SIMPLE: Around The World, Da Funk, Robot Rock). I found Daft Punk a little bit harder to get familiar with, cause I thought their work was very different from the usual techno you hear nowadays (The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, etc). A lot of people say that Daft Punk is one of those groups that is in its own genre of techno and electronic music, but I disagree. A lot of other DJ's have become familiar with their work and enjoy re-working their music, making their songs through mixes/remixes more recognizable. Since their last album (Human After All), they've made quite an exception in the world of techno and electronic music. Musique, Vol. I brings together their best (Something About Us, Technologic, Revolution 909, etc...), along with three remix tracks towards the end of the CD. The DVD is definitely worth the extra couple bucks added onto the $19.99. The music videos are very unique and are well put together w/ each song. Daft Punk fans will enjoy this Singles set.

4 out of 5 stars Worth it for the videos!.......2006-04-17

Any Daft Punk fan knows that a "best of" collection is a pointless buy, since all their albums are fantastic from start to finish. However, this collection comes with a DVD of all their music videos. It's worth it for that, since all of them are top notch. Buy it for the videos, if you're just getting into Daft Punk I'd suggest buying their albums, and avoiding Daft Club and the Human After All Remixes at all cost.

5 out of 5 stars Da Finest!!!.......2006-04-13

If you're like me, you've already got everyone of these tracks and remixs on Daft Punk's various albums, DVD's & singles. So you ask yourself "Why should I buy this album when I've already got all these tracks?" Well, with this collection you get the best of DP's tracks all on one disc. Whether you've been a fan like me over the years, or if you've just discovered them this collection definately does the Punk's right. This CD/DVD will make a worthy entry in anyones collection. Even if you don't think you know Daft Punk, I can almost garuntee that you do. With tracks like "Around The World", "Da Funk", "One More Time" & the now just as classic "Human After All" it's a safe bet you've heard them at least once in your life time before.

5 out of 5 stars Great collection of ATB's greatest hits and a few new tracks!!.......2005-11-14

The first track is nice. It offers a total idea of what to expect from a "greatest hits" type cd. It's a new track that incorporates all the style seen in his tracks from 98 - present.

After that, track 2 introduces a male vocal (definitely shocking! since he rarely uses male vocals) on a remade version of "Let you go". The song isn't bad but I'd prefered a female vocalist. Once I hit Track 3 (his last single, I think) and heard a male vocalist again, I said "Uh-oh!!" and thought the rest of the tracks were reworked classics w/ male vocals... but I was wrong. Track 5 "Take Me Over" brought back the female vocalist and it was going strong. It's definitely showing his ability to gracefully accompany a beauitful vocalist. The rest of the CD is versions of his "Greatest Hits", including a few remixes. Sadly, none of the (literally) thousands of reworked 9PM/Don't Stop mixes were included. OH well... I'm sure we're tired of hearing those anyway. Added note: There are 20 listed tracks, but there are 21 on the CD. Track 1 (Humanity) is a little worked over to become a better first track. Track 21 seems to be the original version of Humanity. It just jumps into the vocals w/o a long intro. If you listen to the tracks in chronological order, you can see his style progress and go slowly move toward the "chill/energy" genre. It's nice.

The included DVD has all his music videos to date... however, the quality is OK... it seems like they just threw a bunch of the clips together and made a VERY simple menu and added it to make a few extra dollars. If you don't own the ATB: Addicted to Music DVD, then this DVD should be good for you. You'll have the full collection of ATB's music videos.

It's definitely a great gift (w/ included music videos!!) for any ATB fan! and a must buy for the few new tracks that show his growth as a DJ. BTW-- He's ranked #9 top DJ by DJ MAG (as of Nov. 9, 2005).

Armin Van Buuren's "A State Of Trance 2004," put it in my CD player, and play it while gliding on the elliptical machine. But I still like this two disc mixed compilation. This sounds a lot like the live mixes I hear on the Boston radio station, Star 93.7 FM. Disc one contains new dance tunes (except for one of them), and disc two contains classic dance tunes. What I've noticed on both discs is that the songs go in speed order from slowest to fastest. There's the songs' BPM listed on the back of the CD. On disc one, there's songs like GoldFrapp's "Strict Machine" (Benny Benassi Mix). Before I knew what kind of mix this song was, I took a guess that Benny Benassi was involved. That was mostly because I could identify the synthesizers and everything, and that sounded like Benassi's. I read the booklet inside and found out it was the Benny Benassi Mix. Another song on here is "Tell Me Where You Are" by Ago. What I like best about the song is the drums that play while the vocalist is singing. Disc one also includes Oceanlab's "Satellite." It's my favorite song on the album. I remember the first time I heard this song back in spring, 2004. I was so drawn into that tune. It was very hard for me to hit the stop button when "Satellite" was playing, and it still is. There's also Jaydee's "Plastic Dreams." It's one of the darkest sounding tracks on the album with it's bass and tribal percussion. Also on disc one, there's "Traffic" by Tiesto. The mix on disc one ends with this trance hit by the Dutch DJ himself. Other songs on disc one include Narcoootic Thrust's "I Like It," "Turn It Around" by 4 Strings, "I Like Love (I Love Love)" by Solitaire, the Boogie Pimps' "Somebody To Love," and more. Disc two has songs like Voodoo & Serano's "Blood Is Pumpin." I'm glad they selected this classic. I wish I could hear this song at hockey games. I bet it would be a very motivating tune for the players. Other songs on here include "So I Begin" by Galleon. Not to far in the past with this dance hit, but I'm still not tired of it. There's also Alice Deejay's classic "Better Off Alone." So many happy memories back in 2000 with Alice Deejay. This is a timeless club hit. Sandy B's "Make The World Go Round" is also on here. I loved this song. I forgot all about it since it's nearly a decade old. Other songs include "Got The Groove" by SM Trax, Junior Jack's "My Feeling," Future Breeze's "Smile," Trevor & Simon's "Hands Up," and more. Dance mixes don't have to go from slow to fast in order to be a workout mix. The music just can't stop, that's all. Either way, this is still a fun two disc album.

5 out of 5 stars Great workout mix.......2004-12-11

Good mix with none of the usual long breakdowns found in much of trance and high energy dance. Works great for long workouts and the songs are mixed well together. Nice job.

1 out of 5 stars S. Main 5 stars / P. Tong 1 star.......2007-05-31

I found this CD to be one great and one part a disaster. I love Pete and I have seen him in concert numberous times, which he is brilliant time and time again, and I have Pete Tong's Esential Mix (outstanding)but I have to say this MIX is a disaster. I was so dissapointed and at the end I didn't know what to make of it. It's definitely not a PACHA sound! Believe me when I tell you, you could not get the crowd going at PACHA IBIZA with this kind of mix. The mix is flawed in so many ways. For one the track Summer Moon mixed into this mix is so out of place. Doesn't do it for me.

On the other hand Sarah Main Rocked it! The fact she dropped Kerri Chandler as her opening track set the tone for what to come. A great 5 star mix and she definitely captured the PACHA sound. All I can say is that this is one worth getting solely for Sarah's Mix. She hardly ever comes out with a mix cd so this is real treat for fans.

1 out of 5 stars This Album made me want to shoot myself.......2007-01-31

And perhaps some of you would prefer I had gone through with that, but before we talk about that, I just had to write a review on this album. I generally don't have nor take the time to write reviews, but this album was so bad, I just needed the therapy of writing a review in the hopes I may deter another human from making the same mistake and spending money on an album that is monotonous, uninspiring, and completely lacking any interest. I love the genre, and I like the Tongcast, but this is boring - almost as boring as this review has now become.

5 out of 5 stars Bold and Defiant.......2006-02-01

CD 1: 5 stars for Pete Tong! Purely dark and defiant cuts!

I totally love the first CD that was mixed by Pete Tong. The beats are hard and heavy with a sound that reminds me of the 1980's (but a little darker, and much more edgy and sophisticated). Every time I listen to this CD I am forced to dance around my house and relive my glory dayz as a punk/raver/clubkidd in the late 1990's. I had the chance to listen to this CD before I bought it, and I like it because its different. Definitely not what you would expect from Pete Tong, but I am glad to finally see a techno CD that stands out from the rest. I would recommend for the squeamish to listen before they buy, as this one isn't your average techno CD. The mixes are very well done, and the dark, hard hitting beats had me stomping joyfully around the house in no time. The second track is definitely my favorite! It reminds me of the underground afterhours club I used to frequent back in the dayz (before I sold out and moved to the suburbs lol).

CD 2: Dirty but NOT dark

As for the second CD by Sarah Main, I only listened to it once. This is mainly because I was so captivated by the first CD that it took a day or so to get the courage to try the second one. I really did not like the first track because it sounded like spanish guitar, which would have been fine for a few seconds while introducing some cool beats, but I felt the guitar played for too long (several minutes until I finally skipped ahead to the next song). Aside from that, there were some cool tracks on the second CD. I would definitely say that Sarah's style is completely different than Pete Tong's, and I really didn't like it because I felt her style is much too "light" for me. When I say "light" I am not speaking of beautiful angelic trance...I mean that every time one of the songs would start to break down and build intensity, the intensity would be interrupted by a vocal, riff, rap etc that would completely throw me off (which I found frustrating). I couldn't really get into this one because of the interruptions, I guess this one just didn't flow very smoothly for me. This is just my opinion, though. Maybe you will like it. Maybe I will change my mind if I listen to it a couple more times. Who knows?

Very dissapointing set. Definitely NOT the kind of tunes you hear in Pacha. The album is a bit "corny" except for a few tunes. A stretch from what we are used to from Pete Tong. What happened big guy??

4 out of 5 stars Long Mixes...But good Ones!.......2006-08-18

At first I didn't really like this compilation (I bought it last year)...I pretty much only bought it because I wanted Eric Prydz "Call On Me" song, but it turned out to be very complete, and I like most of the songs now...the mixing, like some other reviewers said, is fantastic! The flow from "Call On Me" to "Flashdance" is just excenllent and smooth...ofcourse It could have been better without some songs replaced by better one's, but it still pretty good...It's the only Annual from the U.S. that is really worth buying...

4 out of 5 stars Great!.......2005-09-22

Overall an enjoyable compilation from Ministry of Sound. I tend to prefer disc one a bit more than disc two but both are stellar. Lots of club hits like "Call On Me" by Eric Prydz, StoneBridge "Put Em High", Nina Sky "Move Ya Body", Khia "My Neck, My Back", Michael Gray "The Weekend", Mylo "Drop The Pressure", and more. Disc two highlights include "Luv 2 Luv" by Suzanne Palmer, Marly's "You'll Never Know", Kaskade "Stepping Out", and many more.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best Ministry of Sound Ever.......2005-08-21

There is nothing I can say you need to hear it to realise waht an excellent album it is!!!
Fantastic remixes of international hits from Come Along Now vs Gia - Despina Vandi to Put 'Em High [JJ's Club Mix] - Stonebridge and Do You Know - Lara McAllen!
A must buy for dance lovers!!!

1 out of 5 stars What the #%@# Happened to MOS!??!?!??.......2005-01-14

Ministry of Sound lost it.....completely. They lost probably back in 2003...and even their 2003 album was cutting it close. 2004 album was horrible and this one is even worse. I remember when I put a MOS album on and people would go crazy. Now you put this on and people will scream "what is this crap??" Don't even bother...go for the old stuff...and MOS...GET IT TOGETHER!

5 out of 5 stars The Best CD of All Time!.......2005-01-12

I am in love with this CD. If you like dance music, this CD features the absolute best. There are so many great titles on both discs that your head will bob for hours on end. I would recommend this CD to anyone, not just techno lovers. It is amazing, and it will blow you away. I definately recommend that you listen the the first song "Call on Me" by Eric Predz, it is so awsome. I can't stop raving about this CD. Everyone I know agrees that this CD is the buisness.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Upbeat & Nonstop.......2006-08-26

The Annual 2005 is a non-stop & upbeat collection. I strongly recommend it if you like electronic music on the Pop side of the fence.
There are ONLY 2 songs I skip out of the entire set!

4 out of 5 stars It's Ok..........2006-08-18

The Annual 2005, from the UK is not as good as I thought...I mean it has cool songs, but most of them are serentely not real hits...I mean I think the Annual should be released at the beginning of every year and be based on the top 40 songs from the 100 Annual list...because after all we are the one's that vote. The Annual has the #1 Call On Me #2 MyMyMy,and the #3 Stupidisco...but after that the songs are not really all that...I mean were is "Flashdance," "Rock Your Body Rock," "Love Comes Again," "Push Up," "Good Luck," & some other top hits...but I mean I guess the Annual tries to release some new stuff without knowing if the songs will be hits the next year...Back to the CD, I think disc 2 is better because the songs have a good flow...but the compilation is not bad, it still good for partying and working out...

DVD: It actually works on my DVD Player and my XBOX, so If you have an XBOX forget about the DVD Player...At least that works for me.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent, but know about it first.......2006-07-18

This is yet another excellent Annual by Ministry of Sound. As someone else said, they have taken the biggest dance hits of 2005 and put them on 2 CDs. While it's a great tacklist, some of the songs are pretty "old" as they are last year's hits... Also, this U.K. release is much better than the American release.

No matter what anyone else says, the DVD is NOT formatted for use in the USA. It plays on computers and regionless DVD players (which I believe are illegal). If you want to view it on an American DVD player, you can make a copy of the DVD with your computer and format the copy as a regionless DVD (which is legal for archival purposes).

If you're looking for the hard-to-find DVD and/or 2005's big hits, this compilation is the one.

4 out of 5 stars go buy a cheap dvd player........2005-11-03

for all of you that are having problems with the dvd. go to your local big box electronics store, or here, and buy the cheapest dvd player they sell. for the most part they have no region coding in them, and some will even convert pal to ntsc. i have two no-name units that play it back perfectly. good luck and this set is very good.

3 out of 5 stars Decent selection.......2005-09-12

I was satisfied with the amount of songs. However the majority of the titles are unknown, not as popular songs, but I still enjoy the cd set. The DVD is also a great bonus.
