Very polished glitch-house ala oval with a better beat.......2001-05-26

What is the type of music the ForceInc/Mille Plateaux label is putting out these days?!?! This is really great, like a danceable beat-orientated version of vladislav delay, with the same glitchiness. Glitch-House? Sweepy delay pad sounds with just the right amount of crackle and a 4x4 beat (most of the time). I put Andreas Tilliander, along with Vladislav Delay, Jake Mandell, Farben and Sutekh as the best of 2001 from that label(s).

This is not quite minimalism if that's what you're expecting!

Andreas Tilliander has a variety of projects out there, namely Komp (on the esteemed Komplott label) and Mokira (on the Raster Static series). His "solo" release under his proper name is easily the most accomplished so far, though.

What makes Ljud most rewarding is that it combines a variety of sub-sub-sub-genres and in doing so manages to vaguely "cross over", despite maintaining its status as a relatively niche sort of product. While it begins minimally enough, sharing a lot in common with Mokira's stark "clip hop" sound, it gradually becomes more involved, finally giving into temptation on the sixth track and introducing a more regular 4-4 bass beat. Never does the album really get more active than this, but never does it fail to engage as an accomplished work of minimal electronics, combining the best qualitites of experimental artists such as snd, Pole, Auch and Komet with his own various projects and influences. Top notch!
