Disc 2 Always Reliable for Parties.......2004-12-06

I have much love for the second disc--disc 1 isn't bad but it isn't equal either--great for afterparties especially if one is about to deal with sunrise. The tracks have a dark, moody edge combined with a moderate tempo that works well in the difficult transition period from night to day (or from day to night). With just the right mix of sex and energy the collection avoids the frenetic pace of HiNRG which is annoying at 5:00 (am or pm) while also avoiding the deadening lethargy of many Ambient/Chill which are often too Enya for my tastes.

Not as good as the first installment in this series.......2004-10-28

This version of DEEPER is pale in comparison to the original. The tracks here are a lot darker than the former. This album is also more trance driven. There's more filler tracks here, and it's just not as good. I would have passed had I known, but I loved the first collection of DEEPER that I thought this would be good. The selection isn't as good, I could have done without "Rapture" by Iio, Purestone's "Addicted To Bass" and "Finally" by Kings of Tomorrow. The songs that I do like are "I Wanna Be" by Shauna Solomon, "In Stereo" by Flip Flop. Disc one is stronger than disc two, which the second half totally drags on that disc.

It Could Have Been "Deeper," but It's Still Worth a Spin........2003-01-29

Hed Kandi shifts gears a bit and unleashes a series called "Deeper," a collection of house grooves that are edgier and darker than the jams we're accustomed to hearing on the label's "Disco Kandi" compilations. So what works? 90% of Disc 1, which amply lives up to the promise of the title. Main attractions are the funked-up "I Wanna Be" by Shauna Solomon, a Pete Heller remix of "Moody" performed by BPT, and Superchumbo's re-working of "In Stereo" by Flip Flop. These tracks remind me of summer late nights at a club in NYC or Washington, D.C. where grooves like these aggressively pulsate and blare out of the speakers. So what doesn't work? Well, half of disc 2, which docks "Deeper" by a star. Not only is it inconsistent, it also has some fairly predictable titles. Am I the only one who's had enough of the inescapable "Rapture" by Iio? I like the trance version, and the house remix that appears here ain't bad, but it dulls "Deeper"'s edge a bit. Purestone's "Addicted to Bass" sounds a bit clumsy, and I could have lived without hearing "Finally" by Kings of Tomorrow for the umpteenth time. Still, there's plenty to admire on "Deeper," which, despite its flaws, lives up to its name.

A Twisted Journey Into the Darker Side of House.......2003-01-25

That's what the paper slip describes this collection of hard hitting trance songs, and its a fit description. Yes it's not like the original installment of DEEPER in the HED KANDI series, but its different in a good way. The album is a lot more progressive and darker than the original, it will set you in the mood for some deep trance and some dark house beats. Highlights among the set include Afterlife's "Sunrise", iio's "Rapture", Puretone's "Addicted to Bass", Shaunua Solomon's "I Wanna Be", and Dirty's "Dirty". Although I don't really find any real faults with the tracks here, they all have their own flair and just put you in that mood. I quite like how the dark beats are matched with haunting vocals, it especially works well with the female vocals overlaying the track. Other artists on the compilation include Stylus Trouble, Goldtrix, Timo Mass, Miriam Project, Ubu, Kings of Tomorrow and more. Overall in my opinion its a good compilation, not quite as good as the first DEEPER but definately worth checking out.

Disappointing.......2002-07-09

If you are expecting to pick up where the first installment of Deeper left off then this album is not for you.

I could listen to the previous CD set end-to-end but the experience with this one was definately different.

Deeper nació como contrapunto a los Beach House de Hed Kandi, de corte veraniego, adentrándose en las profundidades del deep house con salida en invierno; más tarde evolucionó a un sonido más duro en su segunda entrega hasta convertirse en los Twisted Disco. Pero la esencia de Deeper fue en un princio sensual, muy 60's, la portada de una chica Bond exótica, la lluvia del monzón. Sonido negro, dance espiritual: Aquanote, Lisa Shaw, Kings of Tomorrow, Afterlife... selección expléndida de grupos y artistas que aún suenan a nuevos desde 2001. Extremadamente elegante, como solían ser los primeros discos de Mark Doyle, el alma de Hed Kandi. Un recopilatorio imprescindible en Europa que en su momento fue un paso decisivo a la sofisticación de la música de baile entendida también como música para escuchar en posición horizontal. Después de tantos años sigue emocionándome Always de Lisa Shaw.

Deep house music.......2005-04-07

This 2001 compilation from Hed Kandi remains as one of my favorites. They made a 2nd DEEPER compilation but it was not as good as this one, and sadly they only made the two volumes then stopped! DEEPER is a great compilation filled with darker house music. The vocals are still soulful but the music is noticably darker. This is great to put in at a party or a get together. I prefer disc one over two. Favorites include The Rurals "So Alive", A:xus "When I Fall In Love", Lisa Shaw "Always", Star "Reality", and many others.

Best Hed Kandi Album.......2004-11-13

I've bought other Hed Kandi albums before like the Back to Love series and Winter Nights and i thought they were all great but when i got my hand on this Deeper album I could say that this is the BEST Hed Kandi Album in my opinion. The words DEEP,SOUL,House best describe the songs in this album. Best played when you are having a house party where everyone lounges around with their drink in their hand and just enjoy the night away with this music playing in the background. My suggestion Buy it and Play it cuz you won't regret it!!!

Deep House.......2004-10-28

This is the kind of album you'll want to put on just to chill out, or maybe at a dinner party, anytime, anywhere. Some great deep house tracks here. This is definately one of my favorite cd's from the Hed Kandi label. Both discs are great but in my opinion disc one is better. Highlights from that include "So Alive" by the Rurals, "Always" by Lisa Shaw, "Reality" by Star, Aquanote's "Only", to name a few. These tracks ease you into the second one which is excellent as well. Highlights on that disc include "The Flying Song" by PQM feat CICA, Afterlife's "Makes Me Feel", Atlantis feat Naomi Nsombi "No More Excuses" and more. Check it out you won't be disapointed!

This is hip sway, fung shui, whatever you want it to be!!!!!.......2003-10-21

Think of an air conditioned room thats chilly, and actually feel the goosebumps go up your arm to the rhythm of your heart. Imagine yourself driving in your car down a desert road on your way to a special party place where you dance anyway you like till dawn. If you've ever been to Southern California, picture yourself driving down the 10fwy heading to Palm Springs on a weekend before the sun goes down. Or just sit back in your home, pour yourself a glass of wine, and prepare to temporarily let go of everything, as you move to the best selected compilation album ever. I've played this album for friends of all different music appreciations, and they either ask to borrow(don't thinks so!!!), tell them were to buy it, or record after it!!! Yeah it's kind of pricey, but you'll consider what you payed for it cheap once you've had this particular Hed Kandi experience!!!!!!!!!

dark, sexy, and above all...deep bliss........2002-05-17

currently, the deep house thing is taking the the dance music world by storm. despite this release not being mixed, the tracks featured here are absolutely perfect. be sure to check out when i fall in love by a:xis (track 9-cd1). do yourself a favor and pick this up asap. wonderful artwork. be aware....deeper 2 is now out also. however, it isn't necessarily anything like this release...it's more trancey and in your face. whereas, everything on this release is very subtle and hot!!

I bought this cd in Miami on spring break this past march, and it is still my number one favorite to date (june). It's worth the money, and its great to bring to the gym, or listen to in the car on your way going out.

My first Hed Kandi cd and now I'm here for some more. I luv cd1 more, but the remix of iio's "Rapture" on the faster cd2 is simply amazing. This one is worth the money.
