Fresh Mode Tribute Hits Home.......2004-11-21

Electro is quick, catchy, and infectiously dancy. Depeche Mode are pioneers in synth-pop. Crossing the two results in a compilation that gives fans of both an compilation worth buying.

The song choice works well too, not retreading commonly-covered tracks but instead picking some lesser-touched older songs and some new - Exciter (2001) and Paper Monsters (2004) - material as well.

The only negative to this album might be that most of the artists emply the same singer and so seem to have been performed by the same handful of artists, though one not a fan of the genre might have a hard time discerning performers anyway.

I recommend this collection to all Depeche Mode fans and anyone who's a fan of electronic dance music, especially those who have been unimpressed with the last few years' worth of tribute albums. Give Electro Mode a spin and enjoy the boys from Basildon all over again.
