Great CD.......2006-11-01
This CD is awesome. I was lucky enough to hear Eric play in Utah and he has an amazing voice. There is no foul language and it is entertaining for the whole family.
An amazing voice and a worthwhile message!.......2006-10-27
I love this CD - Eric's songs range from the thought-provoking, to the nostalgic, to the just plain fun! I'm not even a big country fan, but I think that his music appeals to a wide range of audiences! To top it all off, everything I've heard about him and seen of him during interviews, shows him to be a very sweet, down-home, humble kind of guy, who just happens to have extraordinary talent!
Absolutely Wonderful!.......2006-10-24
I loved this CD. It has a good mix of songs on it from several fun and light-hearted songs to songs that provoke deep thought and reflection on life. Eric is very talented and I recommend this to everyone.
Great music.......2006-10-16
I love to listen to Eric Dodge's music and this is a great cd. It has been so inspiring to me. His music is not only entertaining, but it makes me want to be a better person - to really think about what I'm doing with my life...
anxiously awaiting.......2006-10-16
I was so lucky to see Eric in St Louis at a Flyfest and he sang a few songs. He is really talented and a great guy. I ordered the cd and cant wait for it to arrive. All I have heard is wonderful things. I am sure he will not disappoint.

ORIGINAL.......2007-07-07
This is entirely authentic music from entirely authentic musicians. I have watched the evolution of this band since they were in their mid-teens. I watched as they fell in love with this genre and incorporated it into their own style of music.
I have listened carefully and witnessed their evolution and I think that they finally got it perfect.
Their music is authentic. They are the genuine artical. They are some of the hardest working musicians you'll find anywhere. They love what they do. This album is brilliantly produced. The sound is incredible. While I am a much bigger SKA fan than a reggae fan, JBB has inspired me to listen to more reggae -
I have no problem with the way that Kevin Kinsella tunes his voice... he's been tuning it this way since he started singing. It works. If his "authentic" Jamaican friends and fans don't have an issue with it, then neither should his bourgeois fans from the North East.
Just Awful.......2006-04-26
This has got to be the worst "reggae" I have ever heard recorded. From the wanna-be-Bob-Marley cliche lyrics; to the fake Jamaican accents; to the painfully dull melodies; to the droning, uninspired bass lines, this is just awful stuff. There's just too much excellent to really even just passable reggae, from Jamaica and beyond, for anyone to ever have to endure this affliction. Sorry if this review isn't quite "irie", but "who da cap fit", as is said.
Absolutely Original........2006-02-08
I bought Pressure Points some months ago when my buddy got back from Camp Bisco where JBB had a set. He knew I'd really like them because of my love for reggae. Needless to say, I was hooked immediately and extremely interested in who John Brown's Body was and where their music has been, slipping by me somehow. After seeing them live and buying All Time at the show, my respect for them grew even more because at that point I owned only their first and latest albums, both being great and yet extremely different. Within a few weeks I needed another album and for whatever reason I chose Spirits All Around Us. THIS CD BLOWS ME AWAY.
Just as an overall scope of it, there is so much diversity and originality. It's roots reggae, it's hip-hop, it's jazz, it's pop-rock, it's ska, and it's all really really good music. Deep bass lines accented by weaving horn fills and vocal melodies that keep you on your toes wanting more and questioning, "How'd they put this all together?" No doubt this is one of my favorite studio albums I've ever owned and I constantly play it for friends who are floored and happy to hear something fresh and feel-good.
Highlights for me are:
1.Feel
2.33rpm
4.Traveling Man
5.ORIGINAL MAN
7.2 Bulls
8.GARDEN TREE
12.AMBROSIA
So happy I found about JBB, buy this album.
Information!!!.......2006-01-22
This album is creative, diverse and a reminder that Jamaican music will influence American music FOREVER!!!! Now add the fact that alot of us born here have Jamaican friends, more and more we realize that it is a natural progression. You know, like how we have all those cities on the West Coast with Spanish names? People don't even realize that Spanish is a part of American culture too half the time.......I love this album, GO BUY IT!!!!
Good contemporary reggae.......2005-12-12
As a long time reggae fan I dig, and dig and dig for hidden gems from throughout the history of reggae. I rarely find good contemporary roots reggae. But Spirits All Around Us by John Brown's Body is one of the few. Some tracks on this album are excellent, some are mediocore, but most are solid which explains my 4 star rating. I'll go track by track with my ratings.
Feel: (3 stars) feel good reggae. Nothing special but easy to listen to.
33 RPM: (5 stars) probably the best track on the album. It has a great hook, and message.
Eyes of the Maker: (4 stars) easy listening, great message. It's a little bright for my tastes, but it's definitely solid reggae.
Travelling Man: (5 stars) this track has a great feeling of distance and space. You really feel the theme of travelling. Great track.
Original Man: (4 stars) good hook and intensity. Solid track.
Good Vibes: (4 stars) good vibe, easy listening.
2 Bulls: (4 stars) I really like the intensity of the is track. Good use of metaphor in the lyrics. It has a very chant like quality.
Garden Tree: (4 stars) very fun track. Your girlfriend will love it.
Win Them: (3 stars) a little sappy for me, but some may really like the message.
Instrument: (3 stars) not bad, but there is so much good instrumental reggae out there, and this track doesn't really move to the level it could.
Peace in the Valley: (5 stars) the more I listen to this track the more I like it. I doesn't have the same hook that 33 RPM has, but it has great lyrics and atmosphere. It's my favorite track.
Ambrosia: (3 stars) it seems like it's trying to be deep but ends up a little cheesy, and kind of has the feeling of Rice Krispies. One of the mediocore tracks.
Forward Always: (4 stars) simple and sweet with a very good message.
Time to Move On: (3 stars) decent track. Easy to listen to, but a little repetative.

Ecclectic Beauty.......2007-02-13
This is a masterpeice of Latin Jazz. Once you listen to the entire CD you are compelled to hit replay. The compositions are wonderful, surprising and rich. Themeatic materials from the great masters, from classical to contemporary, are interwoven in the melodies. Fine musicianship. Predominant trombome pieces make this one an ecclectic beauty.
Passionate take on afro/cuban repertoire.......2003-06-19
Brass Roots is a hot little band playing cleverly arranged cuban classics and mambo tumes. The band is incredibly tight and much more versatile than the two trombone, trumpet, baritone, percussion line up might lead you to belive. My only criticism is that the tumes are too short and don't give the players great rooom to stretch out but it's a minor flaw in a musical concept that is executed so brilliantly. if you dig the clave, you'll dig Brass Roots.
Cuba & Clave via Boston.......2003-06-13
A good friend of mine in Boston turned me on to this band . In a word, they're hot. The CD is an accurate depiction of their repetoire ( I heard them live in Cambridge). Fronted by ex-Sam Rivers, Either/Or Orchestra trombonist Russell Jewel, Brass Roots is both nimble and versatile. My only criticism of the cd is that they don't get to really stretch out on any of the cuts as they do in a live context. But the music is played with wit, passion, precision & brio ...

These songs are from Tavares'first and second albums and highlight their excellent harmonising and vocal ability.None of the later disco oriented stuff which diluted their sound is here. This is all pure R&B/SOUL.'Strangers in dark corners' and 'check it out' are moving soulful ballads and 'Thats the sound that lonely makes' is midtempo heaven.'Hardcore Poetry' is excellent and showcases the vocal range and quality of these singers. This collection is a must. The follow up album 'IN THE CITY' needs to to be released on cd as it is even better stuff.

The Beasties are back!.......2004-06-19
The 1st single off the Beastie Boys' 1st studio album in 6 years, "Ch-Check it Out", is definitely a track you should ch-check out. The song has a nice, ol'-school feel to it, which is good if you're a long time fan of the Beastie Boys. This might be undesirable for some people since the Beasties have used the same style in their songs for years, but it's nice to see that these 3 guys can still turn it out in their mid-to-late 30's. The only problem I have with this song is with the mixing, the horns in background seem too loud and they sometimes drown out the voices. Still, it's not much of a problem if you're a Beastie Boys fan and you'll enjoy this song even if you're not.

Rounder has released some prime examples of contemporary zydeco, as this release from Beau Jocque and the Zydeco Hi-Rollers makes evident. Beau Jocque and company pound out some high-energy music here. This is not meant for relaxed listening; this is party music. Good-time classic "Keep a Knockin'" is given the full treatment, including a killer Hammond B3 solo. "Slide and Dip It" comes in two mixes: one zydeco and one "party dip." Both are guaranteed to get your house rocking. "Going Down to the Country," on the other hand, is a raw swamp blues while "She Wants to Sell My Monkey" is all but indescribable. Top these off with an outrageous cover of funk standard "Tighten Up" and you have a nonstop winner. These guys put the "Z" in zydeco! --Lars Gandil
Customer Reviews:
Great Modern Zydeco.......2007-03-09
Jocque and the boys (the Hi-Rollers) really give it up on this album. Lots of foot stomping hi-numbers as well as a few slower tempo songs. Tequila is a great cover done in Zydeco style as well as many great originals. Also check out Keith Frank (On a Mission) for another example of great modern Zydeco. Buy it album and be prepared to dance. Enjoy.
The Gret Late Beau Lays It All Down Here.......2000-10-27
This is a great recording- the accordian stopping and starting, wheezing and jumping, Beau growling it out while "skeeta" pays him constant homage in the reply. Get up and dance.
Downright Stanky.......2000-10-23
This recording just gives it up- heaping portions of steaming funk; look up the word "syncopation" in the dictionary and there is a tiny picture of this band. Do NOT come anywhere near this recording if you are not willing to stop your sorry cell-phone life and DANCE.
Jocque Rhymes With "Rock".......2000-07-03
You don't have to like Zydeco to like this CD. Beau's deep, gritty voice, a pounding bass, infectious enthusiasm, and good material combine to produce a winner. Check out the bluesy "What You Gonna Do" and "Going to the Country," a smooth remake of Archie Bell's "Tighten Up," and the up-tempo "Why You Wanna Make Me Crazy?" This band has fun making music; you'll have fun listening to it.
Jacque is sort of a "Ray Charles" of swampy Zydeco........1999-05-18
I love this big guy's renderings of day-to-day themes. Not a Pavarotti, but an honest practioner of 'lusianne' folk music. He is easy to enjoy and can be appreciated for the energy he invests in all of his cuts. He really enjoys what he does. And so do I.

Certain music-critic cliches bear repeating, and in the case of Daddy a Go-Go, the one about audible fun--the idea that you can actually hear how much a band is enjoying making its music--applies. A lot. This is retro-throwback-goofball-jangly guitar rock reduced to its rowdy good-time elements, and there is not a single track (assuming you are not too tethered to respectability to blaze down the road blaring kiddie music) you won't love. Standouts on Mojo, the fourth in a line of consistently groove-worthy A Go-Go records, include the Radio Disney spoof "Radio Dizzy" (sample lyric: "We'll change our names to Avril Lasagna/Or Broccoli Spears if you'll play our songs, yeah") and leadoff track "I Don't Wanna Go to School Today," a Ramones-inspired hoot-and-howler that proves that while Papa may have a brand new bag, Daddy is off-the-charts hip, too. -Tammy La Gorce
Album Description
"Mojo a Go Go - Real Rock for Kids" is on Amazon.com's Ten Best Kids CD's of 2004 List, and is a 2004 Parents Choice Award Winner.
The School Library Journal calls it "A great album for families to enjoy together. The coolest dads in the world score another hit with their fourth album of kid-friendly rock and roll. From their covers of cool classics like "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron" and "Linus and Lucy" to original songs like "I Don't Wanna Go to School," "Don't Blame the Weatherman," and "Do the Chores," these high-energy tunes combine humor and toe-tapping beats that will have kids and parents alike out of their seats."
Please check out Daddy a Go Go's 3 other CD's here at Amazon.com:
1) Cool Songs for Cool Kids, for ages 2-5, was named One of the Top Ten Best Kids CD's of 1999 by Amazon.com, and called "...a hip family classic" by FamilyFun Magazine.
2) Monkey In The Middle, for ages 4-7, won a Parents Choice Award and was also named One of the Top Ten Kids Best CD's of the Year in 2000 by Amazon.com. Also won Best Recording for Older Kids Award by Childrens Music Web, the only such awards voted on by Kids.
3) Big Rock Rooster - for ages 3-10. 2002. The Tulsa World says: "these are songs for kids with brains," while the Minneapolis Star Tribune wrote "Playing everything but drums, John Boydston shows he's as much in touch with his and your kids as he is with patented '60s guitar hooks...this CD is a righteous followup to his first two discs. Daddy a Go Go proves again that he's one of kids-music's rockin'-est rulers." Features 12 Originals like "Get Off The Computer" and "I Wanna Be An Action Hero" plus covers of a couple of obscure classics like "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah" and "Come On Get Happy," theme from the Partridge Family TV show, and "Rag Mop."
Customer Reviews:
A great way to keep your kids entertained on car trips.......2005-08-23
Any parent who regularly carts their kids around in the family minivan or SUV knows that keeping your offspring occupied prevents WWIII from breaking out in your vehicle. To that end, I'm always on the lookout for music that caters to kids without numbing the mind of anyone over 10. That's why I was so excited to find the excellent music of Daddy a Go Go. I find myself listening to his music even without my kids in the car. And that's a high compliment from someone who spent much of her youth in clubs and concert halls taking in live music and at the listening stations in records stores soaking up the latest releases. Can't wait for his next CD! Also check out his other discs: Cool Songs for Cook Kids, Monkey in the Middle, and Big Rock Rooster!
Daddy a Go Go is back on track!.......2005-08-23
After the disappointment of *Big Rock Rooster*, the third Daddy a Go Go album, I was hesitant to buy *Mojo a Go Go* when it was released. I was finally able to find a library copy to borrow, and was very happy to discover that Daddy a Go Go's fourth album is more on par with their first two releases (*Cool Songs for Cool Kids* and *Monkey in the Middle*, which my husband, 23 month-old son, and I love).
What other children's musicians mix surf guitar, Yiddish, and clever lyirics? Besides Ralph's World, not many! Memorable tracks on the CD include the Ramones-esqe "I Don't Wanna Go to School Today"; the Yiddish-smattered "Of Mice and Mensch"; covers of "Linus and Lucy" and "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron"; the pun-filled "Don't Blame the Weatherman"; and the rollicking "The Git Down Towns."
The only song we don't care for is the cheesey tweenish track, "Radio Dizzy" (which seems to have recycled the melody from the instrumental "Radio Wah Wah" on *Big Rock Rooster*). However, it's sure to appeal to older kids, with its references to tween pop culture.
Daddy a Go Go's surf guitar sound has an undertone of southern rock to it, so if you're not a fan of southern rock (as I am not), you may not care for John Boydston's brand of children's music. However, this CD has enough surf rock, creative and amusing lyrics, and cool instrumentals to make most parents and kids happy.
If you're interested in other children's musicians who rock, try Ralph's World (our favorite is the 2nd album, *At the Bottom of the Sea*); Brady Rymer (especially *I Found It!*); Yosi (*Under a Big Bright Yellow Umbrella*); They Might Be Giants (*No!* and *Here Come the ABCs*); and Elizabeth Mitchell (*You Are My Flower* and *You Are My Sunshine*, for a retro Sun Studios sound).

Product Description
"American Made", the new CD from Daniel Smith is an assortment of musical textures and sonic landscapes that include hard driving romps, emotional ballads, and even a bluegrass feeling song. All of the songs were written by Daniel, except "This Old Road", which was co-written with songwriter Charlie Moore. Charlie also co-wrote the title track on Bobby Pinson's album, "Man Like Me".
Customer Reviews:
Fun, Rocking, and Country??? U Bet!.......2005-10-13
At first glance of the CD cover, you see a guy in a cowboy hat and think 'country'. But this album is more than that. This is Mr. Smith's first record and it's fresh, edgy, and yes country, and it rocks! There's plenty of fiddle and steel here as well as crunchy guitars but without all the fluff of today's radio "hits". This collection of songs, all of which are written by the artist (wow what a concept Nashville), is well produced and smartly arranged. I particularly like the U2, yes the rock band U2, influenced opener, "What U See Is What U Get", "Welcome To My Reality", the moving ballad "I'm Going Home", patriotic "Thank You", the radio ready "Right Side Of Love" and the bluegrass inspired "Ain't No Place Like Home". There's a few songs here that are somewhat lackluster but hey...at least it's not the standard fare of two hits and the rest crap filler. Overall I highly recommend "American Made".
Stellar songs that are very refreshing.......2005-07-02
I bought this cd on a different site when it first came out but wanted to share how much I love it. It's fresh-that's the best way to describe it-as the songs' subject are very varied. My personal favorite is Thank You. I have a brother in the Army and the song really comforts me. I found the single by accident and had to know who it was by. I also like What U See Is What U Get, and Aint no place Like Home. I highly recommend this CD if you're a fan of rockin country!

The album, entitled "Still Screaming," features original members guitarist Peter Haworth and vocalist Mike Lezala who reunited after the release of last year's "Anthology" 2CD (MCD021) containing the groups early 80s back catalog. More than just another rock album.......2005-09-26
Legend have really put something together special here, whether this is the result of 20 years out of the limelight I don't know, but this is one of the best pieces of original material I have listened to in long time and like many other reviews, they are without of a different calibre.
One of the most original bands I have heard in years.......2005-05-30
Where can I start? If you want to listen to a band that makes catchy serious songs with an original progressive metal sound then I have to recommend buying this album. All the tracks on this record are good and some of the guitaring is comparative to Joe Satrioni and Uri Jon Roth, but with a freshness that is away from the mainstream grunge and death metal thats appearing on cable all the time.
Different.......2005-03-10
Apart from the synthesiser drums (no mention of a drummer on the sleeve)and the high pitched vocals this is a pretty good album. The tracks are catchy and the musicianship is good.
Legend - Flying the flag for the NWOBHM movement........2004-08-06
The tracks on this record are very catchy. My favourite has to be 'Eden Massacre', but they all have something to offer. It's also surprising that this band has manged to produce such a fine quality follow up album since their last work way back in the early 80's. It's almost as if they had never stopped playing. The NWOBHM movement with Legend is truely alive.
Cool Hard Rock.......2004-07-28
I really like this band, Legend have a unique style that is freshly away from all the Nu-Metal and Death Metal crap that's out there at the moment. There is also nothing neo-classical in this which makes a change, just hard rock similar to Sabbath. I was interested to read on Legend's Website that Lars from Metalicca use to listen to them back in the Eighties. So all I can recommend is go out and buy it!
