2 out of 5 stars This album Sucks pretty bad........2007-03-22

I have never listened to Nic before I bought this. Real mediocre 80s disco sound.

5 out of 5 stars Wow! What an improvement from his first release!.......2007-01-01

I was very concerned after the first Fanciulli release on the same label. Nic is amazing live...but his last release...well left something to be desired.
This time around, he doesn't hold back. Disc one titled "Early Doors" is a slower (pre-party) type of disc. The first track starts us on our journey with the excellent vocal track "Tonight". Slowly but surely, the BMP gets every so slightly faster. Track #4 "Didn't mean to turn you on" is another highlight. The last standout track for me is the Danny Howells Mashup "Always."

Great track selection on this disc which sets us up for the second titled "Late Night Floors". Put your seatbelt on for this one because it gets really really good. Another good vocal track to set off this disc. Then on to track #3 which is SICK! "4 Leaf Clover" is a track that I have heard in the clubs...but never seemed to find on a release. It's magical when you can find a studio release that is as good as hearing the DJ in the club.
Other standout tracks:
-Starwaves
-Trespass '06
-Keule

Don't miss out on this. You'll regret it.

4 out of 5 stars Nic Spins Back.......2006-12-20

Nic Fancilli once again does a good job with volume 2. I am very satisfied overall. He has good house on the first disc, with some R & B involved and the second disc sounds like Deseyn Masiello's compilations.

Overall, a 4/5 and I would strongly recommend this disc to anyone who is a fan of house! Pick it up!!!

4 out of 5 stars Get this album!.......2006-12-02

There is only one way to describe this album...if you really liked the Danny Howells: Miami Global Underground, then you will really like this album. Deep techy prog house...sick sick sick! Both discs are pretty damn good. I definitely like the first half of both discs a little more than the ends. But all in all a great mix album. It is a huge step up from Renaissance Vol. 1 that he did. Pick this CD up...it's epic.

Album Description

Renaissance and Dave Seaman return with the second installment of The Therapy Sessions two-CD mix set. This year budding Australian DJ/producer Luke Chable handles the bonus guest disc honors with a tough, breaks-fuelled extravaganza that draws heavily on his fellow Melbourne compatriots, alongside some of his own acclaimed tracks and remixes. Dave's disc takes him in a new distinct new musical direction. Taking cue from his Group Therapy moniker - featured here with an exclusive reprise and remix of new wave stars Tears for Fears `Closest Thing to Heaven' - Dave drops a fresh-faced blend of electro-tinged funk with rock elements that will take your breath away.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars A therapy session for the bipolar trance fan in you.......2007-02-19

The second installment in the Therapy Sessions series is a really unique mix. Really, it's unique. With Phil K as a guest on Therapy 1, and Lexicon Avenue a fantastic accompaniment to Therapy 3, Luke Chable, at first glance, seems woefully out of place as the other half of the duo behind this two disc set.

That being said, I can assure you he is so stylistically out of place that his music is daunting at first. It bears no resemblance to the likes of any of Seaman's work... yet, it is quite fantastic. Therapy Sessions 2 is a wonderful package of unexpected electronica bipolarity.

Seaman's mix is a solid progressive mix beginning with fuzzy electro-influenced progressive trance a la Masters Series Pt. 7, and then quickly glides into some more well-known tracks that can be identified the moment the melody drops in, which is unlike Seaman, but these songs completely work in the context of their environment. The highlight of Seaman's disc is the journey from tracks six through twelve, beginning with a well-done Rabbit In The Moon remix of "Diamond Dust", and ending with Stel & Good Newz' "Little Soul". The best tracks are, in my opinion, "Finding Time" and "In My Heart" (tracks 10 & 11, respectively). The flow to be found on the second half of Seaman's disc is one of the best I'd found in 2005 and I still listen to the CD regularly.

It's a great mix in its own right, and would even work as a single CD if released by itself - but in lieu of Seaman's previous works, which I find more inspired and entrancing, I cannot help but return to some of his previous Renaissance releases like Awakening, Desire & America, and even his sets for Global Underground, more often than this disc.

Luke Chable's mix is on a completely different level. Not that it's better, nor that it's worse, than Dave Seaman's effort. It's just a completely different style and I am surprised that Dave would consider Luke to assist him with this disc.

Luke Chable's mix is pure berserk break-beat, and I feared for the life of my subwoofers when the bass kicked in full-force on track one. Chable presents us with a fierce rampage through entertaining tracks laced with the occasional cheese vocal, but what stands out most in my mind is the way Chable resembles James Zabiela in the way he would just blatantly mess with the tracks - stop-start, spinning backwards, scratching, bubbly laser-esque audio insertions - just some crazy and unexpected stuff. I really enjoyed it, because the monotony of break-beat, which I usually don't listen to (save Adam Freeland and Hybrid) tends to turn me off. Luke Chable has proven that he is much more than just an Aussie producer, which is how I knew his name before popping this disc in. Not for the faint of heart, especially if one cannot be conservative with the volume knob... but then, what's life without your heart thumping outta your chest as you let the madness overtake you?

Bipolarity Therapy? I'll take it!

~Lex

2 out of 5 stars electro shock therapy that is; cant wait for it to be over........2006-01-15

I have been a huge Dave Seaman fan for very many years and I must say that throughout his life he has put out some great mixes. His works in the trance genre have been a pure catalyst for many artists to push off of. With that in mind I was excited to get this. A couple of days ago I was able to pick this up from Media Play who is closing for $8 (normally at $20) and boy did I waste my money. Lets begin...

Dave Seamans CD is better of the two mixes. Technically he is damn good, but then again when you have CDs released you better know your stuff. As for the tracks, very poor to mediocre. There are a couple of decent tracks but otherwise its a random collection of material that just doesnt go well together. You know when you go to a club and you hear a dj just randomly pull stuff out of his bag last minute trying to make a set when its very obvious he hasn't planned it out? Well thats what this CD sounds like. From DS I was expecting a LOT more thought and quality but instead its as if he was making this mix out of revenge to the recording industry. As a key figure in trance and prog sound, this wasn't anywhere near his other works.

Luke Chable... what a disaster. I know who he is and what he has done but to put him on a trance / progressive mix series??? Some of the tracks were trash that maybe a high school dj-wanna-be kid might play. The break trance/dance stuff was horid. Then there were other tracks that sounded like club-hits from 15 years ago. Perhaps I am too old to appreciate this music but if you know anything about musical theory, trance music, or about the psychology behind sounds and emotion then you will want to avoid this.

I left feeling like this was a freestyle, non planned mix going absolutely nowhere. Therapy Session 2 is the title; well it felt like electro-shock therapy session that was very uncofortable and you couldnt wait for it to finish. Djs should not be allowed to put this kind of crap out. Avoid...

4 out of 5 stars CD1 Solid, CD2 OK.......2005-08-01

With so many progressive mixes out there in 2005, sometimes compilations get lost in all the releases. This isn't a mix that I would normally jump on, but I am glad I did.

CD1 Mixed by Dave Seaman from 1st to last track is solid. A great representation of progressive without getting too techy or too vocal on the listener. I absolutely love it and it has become one of my favorite mixes so far this year. 5 Stars.

CD2 Mixed by Luke. It is similar to this new experimental techy progressive that many djs are introducing this year.

Successfully: Sasha Fundancion and Digweed Fabric 20.
Unsuccessfully: Chris Fortier Balance 007

Fortier either love or hate. I hated it, but if you loved it you will certainly enjoy Luke's mix.

Nonetheless, unlike Fortier, Luke puts together something that you can actually listen to. If you are in the mood for some dirty noisy progressive or some breaks slamming against your head this is it. I have enjoyed this compilation because as noisy and techy as it sounds, it still pretty good music (unlike Fortier's extremely annoying Balance effort, which falls flat on its face). So this Cd deserves 3 stars in my opinion, since I can't listen to it on a regular basis. Nonetheless, that is pretty subjective, so if you are into breaks you will certainly love this.

Conclusion Dave's 5 and Luke's 3 give this compilation 4 stars.

5 out of 5 stars disc 1 funky progressive..disc 2 breaks breaks breaks!!.......2005-06-14

Dave Seaman always has a couple of tricks of his sleeve, and it seems he used all of them for this one. He comes out witha perfect progressive stunner that include some monster tracks like tears for fears's closest thing to heaven and holden and thompson's come to me (which is just a killer track). Seaman's tracklisting gives it the fifth star.
Australia's Luke Chable brings out the breaks in full swing on disc 2, and he even has a couple of tracks that go in a totally different direction (Moondusted, Skyline Rd.) but sound perfectly intertwined into the compilation. Chable's Tokyo and Skyline Rd. take the spotlight i think, and I believe Chables compilation slightly edges Seaman's (I love breaks). Anyways, this CD is off the meat rack. Get it.

5 out of 5 stars A special place for Dave Seaman.......2005-06-09

I put this cd in and slipped away to a wonderful place, thanks to Dave Seaman. I highly recommend this cd.

This is the third in the series of compilation discs assembled by Robert Aubry Davis, host and producer of the long-standing public radio series Millennium of Music. Where volume two of the series drew on music for the Christmas season, this volume concentrates on music for Holy Week and Easter; more interestingly, it draws from the rich and varied catalog of early music recordings distributed in the U.S. by Qualiton Imports under the "Gioia Antiqua" imprint. Possibly the most valuable thing about this is that it features lesser-known performers right alongside well-established, highly respected groups such as the Orlando Consort and the Bach Collegium Japan (both in fine form here). Of course, with such a variety of lesser-known ensembles and small labels, this juxtaposition flatters some of these artists more than others. Some appear quite impressive (Schola Gregoriana Pragensis and Ensemble Daedalus, for example); others seem not ready for prime time (Westfälische Kantorei and the Spanish choir Musica Ficta). A particular treat is a medieval motet played by the legendary Dutch recorder trio Sour Cream (one of whose members was conductor Frans Brüggen). On a reasonably priced compilation disc like this, variable quality isn't a major drawback--use it to explore, find what appeals to you, and go on from there. It should be quite a stimulating endeavor. --Matthew Westphal

5 out of 5 stars Spiritually Moving.......2006-02-13

A beautiful selection of mostly choral pieces from the Baroque and pre-Baroque era. The choices are a mix of the familiar and unfamiliar which make listening to this a pleasure. Chosen for the Easter season, the selections are spiritually moving and will put you in touch with all that is sacred and holy. Performance is impeccable and the sound is rich, resonating with the lofty space of a cathedral.

1 out of 5 stars Not good.......2005-12-11

It's been awhile since i have bought a CD that I absolutely thought was horrible. Well, that fatefull day came once again when Pacha Ibiza, Vol. 2 arrived. Most of the music is absolutley nothing new, and CD's 2 and 3 sound like they are geared for the Studio 54 audience. If I wanted Diana Ross 70's music I would buy it. I bought Pacha Ibiza, Vol. 2 thinking it would be smooth bumpin beats. Try shallow, clunky, and washed up. Do not buy this CD, and do not buy this cd for anyone, it's a horrible waste of money and time. Buy Pure Pacha 2005, or Pure Pacha Winter Sessions. Both are very good.

This is not so much a review as it is an opinion. I have found but one word to accurately describe Hernán Cattáneo's Sequential Volume 2: Epic.

Not since my first listen to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon back in the summer of 1973 have I been so profoundly, so unreservedly transported. Prepare for a harmonic adventure like no other.

A word of advice: Buy headphones. Good ones. This compilation, with the proper head gear, will change everything you think you know about digital music.

Hernan Cattaneo's second installment in his self-realized "Sequential" series is a highly intelligent and logical extension of the successful first installment. It is in every way as haunting, smooth and colorful as its album's cover might indicate. Hernan is arguably the smoothest DJ on the scene right now, able to slyly manipulate the transitions between songs whose eclectic nature one cannot help but savor and appreciate. What works in Hernan's favor is the fact that Sequential Vol. 2 is not so much a "sequel" as much as it is a progression for the Sequential series and Cattaneo himself.

The layout of Sequential 2 is similar to that of Sequential, Vol. 1; the first disc is a wonderful, (dare I mention the word timeless already?) smooth and sexy mix of what amounts to be a superb track selection. Though brief, Cattaneo and John Tonks' `Little Intro Mix' of "Sweep" swept me off my feet; the two artists manage to change a rather familiar song into something brief and beautiful. As usual, Cattaneo's track selection is impeccable as he mixes quirky tracks like "18 Years" alongside more conventional tracks like "Monochrome." Those of you familiar with Hernan's sly DJ'ing style will, no doubt, find lovely the transitions between Nic Fanciulli's remix of "I Try" and the `Sequential Mix' of "Anime" (produced by Cattaneo and Tonks themselves). The beauty of disc one steadily escalates as the tracks progress and I truly believe Hernan meticulously placed these tracks in "sequence" to provide this effect. He succeeds, brilliantly. The beauty of the first disc is counter-weighted by midtempo, beat-oriented tracks beginning early on in the mix; from tracks five until sixteen, Hernan manipulates the sound so that with regards to the mystical elements of the music the intrusion of heavier undercurrent beats doesn't overwhelm the vibe. Note-worthy tracks include "Goodbye Pluto" and Martin Buttrich's sublime remix of "Rhythm Acupuncture," which segues into the superbly chosen "Popsky," aiding "Smooth Drive" in bringing closure to the first disc riding the same elegance with which it began.

True to "Sequential" prototype, the second mix illustrates what the cover of the album can only convey visually. A certain type of aural 'color' is injected into the tracks on this mix, similar to the 'color' one might find on the Luke Fair's "Balance." That is not to say that disc two resembles house music, by any means. Tracks such as Guy Gerber & David K's mix of "Neon," "Arachnofunk" and "Everyone Loves Candy" that illustrate this colorful timbre - and we only find ourselves on the fourth track! This is definitely a mix to cherish, just as its predecessor was. The style is fresh - the "new car smell" of EDM and it simply never fails to get the body moving. "Everyone Loves Candy," in fact, launches the album into danceable bliss with echoic female "voices" (not to be confused with vocals) and a relentless dancefloor beat that will promote beads of sweat on your face as you let loose to its sound. Take it or leave it, but this is one wicked album. The remix of Layo & Bushwacka!'s "Saudade" deserves specific praise here, I think, because of its ethnically-infused funk. Add a dash of electro and flip on the strobe-lights because the party's going from dusk `til dawn. Any dance album has the capacity to precipitate an all-night party, but tracks like "Nobody Beats the Biz," moving from funk-laden grooves to hard-hitting minimal house keep things one step ahead of the rest. How Hernan manages this flow without losing the listener nor the pace continues to elude me; in fact, it excites me to the point where I'm not sure if I'm liable to care how he does it - I just want to taste that aural sugarcane. Two unique `Sequential Mixes' of "Airtight" and "Paper Dove" bring even more authenticity to faithful Stel's "Infinitiy," which closes out the second mix and displays the sexy fusion of house, Balearic and trance EDM tightly bound within the confines of eight minutes. Superb.

The second volume of Sequential shows Hernan at perhaps his finest peak thus far as we have watched his style move through that of the fifth Master's Series to the Sequential series and the continued success of his Metro 95.1 radio show. This is an album worth purchasing; ideal for a club or for a home entertainment system, there is never a point during which the listener feels his intelligence is being insulted with repetitious "four-on-the-floor" amateur antics. This is simply not Hernan's style. Expect the same sly, smooth and sexy trance we have all come to know and love Hernan Cattaneo for - though dually, expect it to be of a higher caliber than we have seen from him before. Unlike John Digweed's Transitions, Vol. 2, which is a fantastic album in its own right but is a mere continuation of the first volume, the second Sequential release is a step forward from the previous excursion, and exercises both the mind and body in ecstatic unity.

    4 out of 5 stars Pappa's Progression.......2002-04-06

Pappa continues with his strong progressive sound, forcing his way forward. Pappa's track selection includes music from breeder, humate, narcotik, and hybrid. Pappa keeps this cd moving with Breeder's Angel Dust. Great song with strong powerful beats. Hybrid's Kill City is awesome. Soft and full of vocals yet a powerful and progressive song. This song takes the icing on the cake. In this cd Pappa keeps the energy flowing and continues with his strong momentum, never slacking up. Pappa definitely has a lot of talent and a driving mixing style.

    5 out of 5 stars Anthony Pappa's Best, 16b fans rejoice.......2002-02-28

First off, both cd's are great. I sort of got tired of the rennie pilgrem quickly, but breakbeat is in my opinion still developing into something I soon won't bore of, I felt the same way about TDR 50, his label's two cd set. If you really dig it, pick this one up. If you like it, but need a little edge, try Adam Freeland tectonics. I honestly think this set is quite a bit similar. Both even conclude with the same beeper track, albeit I like adam's set better.

That beings said, DISK ONE with Pappa is one of my favorite mixes EVER, and it starts with the most brilliant 16b track I've heard yet. Believe me when I say that Global Underground has yet to match the momentum on this disk to date. I've followed the label from inception. I bought this album two years ago as an import. It still sits in my visor, standing out among the hundreds of progressive house compilations. It was worth the forty I shelled out, so don't hesitate spending 20.

Buy it, and if you really like Anthony's disk, make sure you pick up the latest rennaissance comp. with nick warren and danny howell's. Howell's cd is better than anything he's released in the states and it's the same progressive house you find here. If you liked max grahm's release, this disk is similar, but less monotonous. How many other albums can I plug here? have fun.
