Excellent!.......2005-08-13

I am really impressed with this chillout compilation. I tend to be really picky and hard to please when it comes to chillout music. The compilations in general contain the same songs and offer nothing really distinctive for me. Not in this case however. It's a different sounding chillout album to me. It's the perfect thing to pop in after a hard day at work which was stressful, or just before bed to wind down. Artists include Zero 7, iio, Jean Jacques Smoothie, Radiohead, Chemical Brothers, Faithless, St. Germain and more. Check it out! A must have in any music collection.

My Favorite MOS Chillout CD Set.......2004-05-31

I really like the MOS chillout CD's a lot and listen to them all the time, but this is the one I like the best. The track selection is excellent and the mixing is pretty nice as well. I can comfortably give this a very high recommendation. I am hoping they will come out with another set soon.

the third compilation proves again that the ministry of sound is a standard-setting label for chillout. it makes a step forward in terms of creatity and introduces a jazzy side. this feature makes the compilation quite original and eclectic. tracks like the soulside mix of iio's rapture (one of my all-time favorites), lux, weekend players, st germain, jack-jaques smoothie and the past present organization are just the perfect selection. jon hopkins's lost in thought is almost heavenly. if you want to relax, or maybe enjoy a night with somebody, this session is a very good choice.

Another Stellar Collection from Ministry of Sound.......2002-07-24

The folks at Ministry of Sound, whoever they may be, are a bunch of very smart people. They've assembled some of the very best compilations I've purchased, and they're worth every dime of their import price tags. Having already bought a few chillout albums, I wasn't sure if MoS would continue their winning streak. Sho 'nuff, they did. "The Chillout Annual 2002" almost blows away the "Ultra Chilled 01" collection right out of the water. On this double CD, we get rare and exciting laid back grooves; if you work in a high stress job during the day, this CD will help you calm your nerves when you get home. As with most chillout albums, we get appearances from Zero 7, Saint Germain, and Groove Armama, and they are all well-represented with some really good cuts. But the group that interests me the most is this band called Royksopp, who deliver this intriguing track called "So Easy." Bouncy and infectious, it's a great song from a group that deserves to be billed as The Next Big Thing. If you're into chillout compilations, you simply have to get this. It's a first-rate MoS effort that will make a welcome addition to your collection.

Indispensable set for a bedroom and sleepy sunday mornings.......2002-03-24

A must have set on every cd-deck. This is not something that you take off your cd player, specially the first cd. Contains the usual beautifully mixed 19 to 20 tracks, 3 min max for each song, the MOS mixing way, so you don't get bored so quickly and you can have a quick tour sur le cream de la musique. One of the best songs is "In the waiting Line" from "Zero 7" which is the best medicine to relax after a stressful day or browse on that "Saint Germain" song that has a perfect rhythm and you might even think that you are listening to a "Cafe Del Mar" album with the "Afterlife" track. So, if you have a bedroom, a cd-player and a life... own this!

Good sampling, but..........2002-12-09

For some reason they CD producers don't think the US market will want the entire collection and only give us one or two of the actual 3-CD Annual that is produced each year.
Buy the entire UK import Annual if you want to hear it all. Although this CD is a good sample of the great techno/dance/house, the UK one is the one to get!

This Rocks.......2002-10-07

Not sure how the other reviewers missed the essence of this compilation. The whole CD rocks.

Ministry slacks........2002-04-11

While there are some flashes of brilliance in this album, it is compromised by a lack of direction. The 'Tastes so Sweet' mix of Rapture is beautiful, although cut far too short. Faithless, Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic, and Crystal Method are all good driving tracks at the tail end of this album. The high point, without contest, is Darude's ripping mix of Rising Star's 'Touch Me'. This is a cut to throw on for the peak... when you find the party is just outside of Barstow with Hunter. That said, then there are all the uninspired tracks in the center of the album. These are more appropriate in an adolescent Brit girl's drawer next to the Spice Girls. For some labels, this would be normal, for Ministry however, it is a dissapointment.

Ministry of Money.......2002-04-04

After putting out CDs like The annual 2000 and all the trance nations, Ministry of Sound has proceded to put out excedingly worse cds. My grammar may be bad but my taste in music is not. I can't believe I wasted my money on this cd. I guess I figured that since it was a single disk it would have been more selectinve in the tracks that were mixed. I'd say 6-7 tracks are good, but all in all it sounds like a big eurodisco. I guess I'll have to continue downloading on Kazaa to keep from throwing my money away.

These other people need to mature in their veiw of music. They are obviously unknowledgable in the world of electronica. If you want a trance album you dont buy ministry. Dont let their skewed veiws and feeble mind-sets ruin your idea of this cd. Check out the hot tracks featured. Listen for yourself!

It's the dog bollocks!.......2004-03-31

This CD has the ability to pump you up. I listen to nothing else going to work. I think I will have to buy another one soon just because of the wear!

Lost the momentum.......2002-12-13

Unfortunately I am not happy with this CD. I have been an avid MOS cd listener but this one was not up to their standards. I found that compared to their previous the remixes and the selection of music was not convincing to be a MOS cd. Some re-mixers did not flow with the cd as a whole: My People (Basement Jazz Remix) - Missy Elliott, At Night - Shakedown and In My Eyes (DJ Phillip Mix) - Milk Inc. I found that having a good mixer was key to the success of MOS cd and this one really did not have one. The Annual cd were the selection of the best although this time around some that I have heard on other Ibiza CD did not make the list.
I will have to think twice buying the next one Annual Compilation.

Ministry of sound are losing the plot me thinks!.......2002-09-04

So, here we are with another Ibiza Annual. And sadly, it's still going down hill. Plugging as many of there own records as possible, containing only a very few decent club tracks such as Snap's 'Do you see the light' 2002 Remix, Hi-Gate's excellent return to form with 'Saxuality' on CD1 and M001's 'So fly', 'Mother' from M-Fator and Felix Da Housecat's sublime 'Silver Screen Shower Scene'on CD2. It's not worth buying this albumn for 5 decent tracks. But if your into your pop trance and commercial dance music, you could do a lot worse than this album. The quality of mixing is also so wooden with the lack of an actual DJ at the helm, which used to give this series such character, but alas, with a weak track listing this is not an album I would personally get very excited over.

Best of this years MOS Annuals.......2002-01-01

I have to say I love MOS compilations. I have been purchasing them for four years now, and I find them to be high quality, great mix CDs. That said, this year's Annuals had me very disappointed. First, the MOS 2002 Annual from the UK (rainbow cover) was a three CD set, looks like it would be great. Unfortunately it is following in an upsetting trend of MOS compilations, in which a DJ did not mix the CD. Personally, I enjoy an actual DJ choosing the track listing and putting his or her personal touch on a mix CD.

The MOS also released a 2002 Annual US edition (red cover). This mix is decent, but on one CD, and again no DJ attached. While I was tempted to buy this, it just didn't excite me.

When I found this MOS Australia 2002 Annual (white cover), I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was this two CD set mixed by two great, Australian DJs, the track selection was exciting, and after listening to it, I love it even more.

Congratulations to the Ministry of Sound Australia for doing what your sisters in the US and UK didn't do, putting out a great compilation which truly captures 2001. If you are gong to purchase any MOS Annual this year, I highly recommend the Australian version, it is the best choice of this year's.

A very good stardard for ministry All the classics top house on cd1 keeping a very good funky feel thoughout.

There's a Party Up In Here!!.......2002-07-28

Wanna get a dance compilation that's jumpin' but has none of the cheese you'd find in American discs like "Totally Dance?" Then get Ministry of Sound's 2002 Annual, which is two discs of some of the most popular international club hits. The first disc consists of Eurodisco and some light touches of house, while Disc Two has fast-paced, energetic trance. My favorite disc is definitely the second one, which is the more consistent and engaging of the two. "Will I" by Ian Van Dahl, "Resurrection" by PPK, and the long forgotten SNAP! are among the better cuts that make up this disc. Disc One also stands out thanks to "Where's Your Head At" by Basement Jaxx, the Eurodisco of DB Boulevard's "Point of View," and a really interesting cover of Corey Hart's "Sunglasses at Night" by Tiga and Zyntherius. Unfortunately, Disc One wears out its welcome by the final quarter, with lesser tracks that stray off course and threaten to drag the disc down. That gripe aside, it's hard to dislike this release. Ministry of Sound has put out quite a number of overall solid collections, and the Annual 2002 is no exception.

Ministry delivers!.......2002-05-07

MOS delivers another double CD just in time for the Summer clubbing kick offs and they don't fail to disappoint.

In a compilation market with little differentiation in track listings, MOS deliver many first time comp releases.

CD 1 follows a good tough funky house route, with highlights being the disco filtered Love will set you free (Ibiza smash I sense)and Shakedown - funky stuff indeed. Played this CD at a party on Sunday night and it outlasted all the usual cynical taunts to switch the CD so it must have some staying power.

CD2 then typically beefs the beats up further and meanders through a stomping trance odyssey that, despite the short mixes commonly found on compilations, still creates a whirlwind journey. Track highlights on CD 2 include, Peran Good - Times, Coma Nova - Wishful thinking (already pre-ordered for my vinyl collection) and the stunning Aquanauts Deep Sea.

If you buy your compilations to get a taste for what's going to be big this coming summer, then MOS Spring 2002 is as good as they come and points to another year of strong dance music capable of crossing over into the mainstream charts.
