This is a good mix compilation.but you know they do it in the studio so It's all cleaned up. But RHV has some clean mixing skills. Also bad boy bill with that scratching.Overall it was released back in the day,but it's still the ish!!!!

I love Richard Humpty Vission and Bad Boy Bill for their heavy beats. This CD truly shows off how great they are at mixing House together. However, these songs are terribly dated. It's 2004... don't go buying CDs from 1997.

Dated hard house CD.......2003-08-15

Excellent mixing, lots of different tracks, classic hard hosue CD. BUT, a lot of the tracks are dated sounding and some have cheesy vocal samples that take away from the quality of the driving hard house sound (cheesy as in cheesy bad, not cheesy good). The sound of this CD is less energetic and more funky than other CDs. Its OK. I might have loved it in 1996, but its kind of boring now.

HOUSE CONNECTION is an awesome hard-bangin house Cd that all dance music fans should check out. I bought this Cd when it was first released and I still continue to listen to it all the time. BBB and RHV keep the music flowing and their mixing here is flawless. I like to mess around on the truntables, but I wish I had the talent that these 2 guys have. One just has to check out the quality of this Cd and you can see why these 2 guys are probably the best house Dj's in the country right now

I enjoy listening to this album a lot. From the start, the DJs kick off some very catchy beats and samples, and they just won't quit. Their live shows must also rock, and I definately want to see one before I die. This album contains more than just the usual beat mixing and turntable tricks. On most house music CDs, the DJ(s) would mix similar beats and styles the whole way through, but Richard "Humpty" Vission and Bad Boy Bill never mix the same beat twice, and their styles seem limitless. Anyone who does not like house music because of its repetative and monotonous nature, would probably change their mind when they hear this CD. Even though the music is repetative, the DJs keep the music changing very quickly with perfect timing, keeping the energy high all the time. I have not yet gotten bored over this CD, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes to dance.

Im from Chicago, so I grew up listening to Bill on the radio, and he never seems to let me down with his cds. No other dj can put together a mix cd quite like him, as far as track selection and bangin' intro's. Great buy.

Super-Happy-Fun C.D........2002-03-29

I liked Bad Boy Bill before, but when I heard this c.d. I really got hooked. This is a fun and uptempo house c.d. and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top notch D.J. to listen too. He plays excellent tracks and it'll keep you dancing until it's done. This c.d. must be heard to appreciate!!!!

Bad Boy Bill at his best.......2001-01-24

This is a good CD mixed by a lousy DJ. The anthem house tracks selected get old quickly, but I like the way several tracks are used during a single build on this CD. It has no flavor of Chicago and it is generic. It reminds me of a cheap plastic toy that's extremely fun for a day or two, but then gets forgotten. I recomend borrowing a friend's copy of this because it's a good listen 4 or 5 times, but that's about it. I did see Bad Boy Bill live, just to give him a chance to impress me. He failed. He simply cannot mix tracks as quickly as he does on this CD anywhere outside the studio. For real house music look in the direction of DJ Dan or Donald Glaude.

A Masterpiece.......2001-01-22

What can i say but, Bad Boy Bill performs to his peak once again. The cd never stops pumping and always makes me want to hit the dance floor and get some foot action. I would have to say that this is one of his better works and always improves with time given. This is a must buy for anyone who appreciates a good house mix!!!!!!!

Classic........2005-09-11

it was the mid-90s, and chicago hard-house was in full effect (in my opinion, when house music was still good). if you came from the northside of chicago or los angeles and were a teenager from the inner city during this time period, you'd know who badboybill is. hands down badboybill was the best from this genre, and bangin the box2 along with house connection 1 is pretty much the definition of this era.

MUST LISTEN .......2006-11-20

This is one of those "epic" albums that doesn't come around very often. I appreciate all styles, even though im mostly into Drum n Bass, Chicago House is defined in this album, and the mixing of these pioneers in the scene is utterly amazing, fantastic, and perfect in every way. If you are at all into house/electronica, you must own this album. It is a staple of the genre.

This is the disc. It is just sooooooo good, it's disgusting. The most insane mixing, mastering, track selection, hype, beats. Just too good. I've owned like 3 copies of this, they keep getting stolen or too scratched up!

House might never be this good again, this is the pinnacle. Think I'm exagerating? buy the damn thing!

Sweetness.......2003-09-30

This is just too good. First off this cd features Richard Humpty Vision one of my recent favorite house Djs. I had purchased his Shut the F*** up and Dance cd and I wanted more. Then came along Bad Boy Bill, I had heard some of his stuff and it was some premium house. And the fact that they are both here on four turntables mixing the crap out of the song selection is just to cool. Now my only problem with the cd is that it varys to much between fast and slow paced songs. I wish that one type would stay consistant for more than just a minuet or two.
Other than that, this is a good album and I recomend this to any House junky/fan out there.

this cd by far is the last true house cd to come out during a time when house was breaking through it had the right timing the rave scene was hitting hits peak and this cd takes on a journey through house. it has everything on it chicago style and l.a house mixed together. if you don't like this cd than you are not into house some of the newer dj's should listen to this as starting point. we miss this sound someone should bring it back/ i still pump this cd even 2003 poeple wanna know who this is. i give this cd a 5 star rating i suggest picking it up!!![.]

Bad Boy has done it agian with this great new CD. If you want to have your'e own party away from the clubs this one is a must have. This bro keeps the Chi-town flavor alive with this one. Just keep your balls tight for the next one, you just know in some way it's gonna be more dope than this one. Shibby. Coming from a lifelong Chicago area Bill fan and have been grooving to his sounds for 14 years, I consider Bangin' the Box 5 to be a neccessity to every Bill fans collection,BUY THIS CD NOW!...I own over 30 Bad Boy Bill mix tapes and Cds and have recorded radio mixes of Bad Boy Bill dating back to the eighties and I can honestly say that this is one of Bill's best in the last 6 years. The latest underground house tracks hand picked by the best,and mixed to perfection,and of course,a few surprises!

first off.....bad boy bill makes a dj produced cd........it was mixed on 2 tables......then edits and accapellas were added......also some of the accapellas were already added to his recordsd to make the mix smoother..........he is a good studio dj and a great live dj but the cd was mixed on 2 tables then he went into the studio and made it the most bangin mix he could...................thats the way he works.......see him live.....only spins on 2 table.s......but he is my favorite............this is a great cd...........if you like him check out josh the funky 1.......he up and coming and his mixes are similar to bbb in style and on how its produced.....although one difference.....he mixes on 3 tables live.......enjoy the music.......peace

Midney's best?.......2001-08-07

...probably, although I'll welcome arguments favoring "Beautiful Bend" and "Evita." Of Boris Midney's druggy soundscapes for the disco round, this may be his only album that must be heard to be believed, let alone appreciated! Beyond his usual rococco string crescendos and cooing disco chorines, this album better makes better use than any other of BM's secret weapon -- silence. After building for several minutes, towering arrangements abruptly vanish...and off we segue into the next theme, which may or may not explain why. Mysterious! Side One's "Come Into My Heart/Good Lovin'" was Boris' biggest hit (a 45 rpm version actually nicked the Top 40 during the peak of Disco Madness, amazing given its nearly eight-minute length, the fact that it was a pretty crummy edit, and the overall weirdness of this material). So what does it sound like? Just imagine: you're late for that connecting flight at Heathrow, you see, and you've forgotten your Thorazine (...every DAMN PILL!) Being rhythmically blessed yet none too tightly wrapped, you proceed to... OK -words may fail me, but the music doesn't - especially the climax of side one, as grand and successful as any disco record ever cut. Side 2, "Love's Comin'/Baby Love" is a cleverly arranged, weirdo riff on early 60's girl-group na-na. Somehow, a synthesized harpsichord succssfully finds its way into the mix. As Boris saw the disco floor the way Salvador Dali saw canvas, the result is delightful - and slightly disturbing.

If you like Bill's quick tracks and amazing voice overs vol. 3 is what you want. Bill manages to fit almost all the cd into the first track, by changing and mixing beats in and out like few other house djs can. the cd starts out hard and slowly progresses to a funky house and then Bills last ten tracks make you want to get up and jack your body. The music and artists Bill uses are more old school when compared to Bangin the Box vol.4 If you like Bad boy bill or even if you dont know his beats this is a great addition to any collection of music.

Solid, bangin house -- the way it should be done.......1999-03-17

Nothing terribly groundbreaking on this album, but Badboy Bill's trademark groove is unmistakeable. The intro track is hurried, but the rest of album impeccably segues from hard house into a deeper, more progressive sound. A few quality samples are sure to thrill those who like a few disco drops in their house.

Richard Kleiderman disco or East European disco?.......2001-12-20

I don't really know what to make of this album. On one hand you have at times melodies reminiscent of monumental pianist Richard Kleiderman (in "Do Me Good" for example); on the other, we sometimes hear distinct East European tunes cloacked with disco arrangements. No doubt, this is the weirdest musical mixture I have ever encountered, and I don't mean it to be read as being bashful or critical.

I enjoy "Join The Dance" and "Do Me Good" (the former in particular, which is a better track than the latter). At the 3 minute mark of the former, the lushful, excessively fresh, youthful singing is discarded at once and the song's melody structure changes to a repetitive East European routine, demonstrating what I said in the previous paragraph.
"Do Me Good" employs enjoyable tunes, however strange they might be. "There's A Way..." is of roughly the same caliber as "Do Me Good". "I'd Like To Get Closer" has a pretty good tune and melody, its beat is darn good too and it has very intense string arrangements - to a higher degree than the degree of the string arrangements on the other tracks, which is pretty high anyway.

As with virtually every Midney project, the lyrics are pretty shallow, not to mention being cartoony, childish and the schoolgirly singing. Unfortunately Midney seems to accentuate this charecteristic of Eurodisco more than any other producer of his niche.

Midney's most typical.......2001-08-07

Not as inspired than the companion "USA European Connection," this strikes me as the producer's most typical album. And it's as enjoyable as any of them in its cracked, giddy way.

It's Disney World on acid!

Frenzied as they are, the string/rhythm arrangements are beyond reproach, surpassing those of Chic and any other string-nutty disco producers I can think of, except for Celso Valli and Ashford & Simpson (if you've read this far, you probably know who they are. Your booty certainly does).

As for the much-criticized schoolgirly chorus - love 'em or leave 'em, I say, but dig this: These records are so certain in conceptualization, they might not have worked at all without them.

Side A, "I'd Like To Get Closer/Do Me Good" is the better twirl... however, "Join The Dance/There's a Way Into My Heart" is the circuit "classic," caned to death in recent years by my fave circuit dj's (AHEM, SUSANNNN ????)

The Midney Factory.......2001-07-28

Clearly influenced by the Star Wars movies of his time, Midney was fond of taking bittersweet European-style string melodies and overlaying them with electronic sci-fi burbles, then arranging the songs in dramatic, soundtrack fashion. The results could be beautiful, histrionic, or peculiar. This second USA-European Connection album is better than the boppier, bubblegum first lp, but suffers from third-grade lyrics and Saturday morning cartoon singing.

la creme de la creme.......1999-11-20

Boris Midney epitomizes sophistication and subtlety in dance music. His records transcend the medium and were years ahead of their time...in fact they are timeless for there has never been another producer remotely like him. Even Cerrone, Costandinos, Moroder and Chantereau of Voyage cannot touch him. Additionally Midney plays all keyboards and horns himself and does all the arrangements as well as mixing and cover art. His rigorous training as a classical musician in the Soviet Union is displayed in his unusual structural form as well as his Rachmaninoff-like melodies. Highly reccomended also is his album entitled Beatiful Bend which contains the masterpiece "Make That Feeling Come Again".

I've been waiting a long time for Boris Midney's records to come out on CD. This CD has the original songs of "I'd like to get closer" and "there's a way into my heart". I learned to dance the Hustle to this music when the original record went to #1 in the days of Disco.

Classic Chi-town Mix.......2004-06-01

This is definetly a classic Chi-town house mix C.D along with Dancworks Underground Construction "1997". This C.D. came out when I was a senior in high school and I was like 18 yrs old. Given it's now 2004 and I'm 26 yrs old, this C.D. still has the cuts. For those of you who still love house, you can still buy and appreciate this C.D. Bad Boy Bills finest!! It brings back fond memories.

i was about 19yrs(1995) and i was just getting into house but i was sure what style i liked i was just a wallflower. anyways my freind took to see a chi-style house dj named bbb. i danced for first time to bbb's set and i never stoped. next day i went to record store and picked this one up and played so much my mom was singing the songs she was 47. anyways this was the start of the new club scene in the us this cd has it all fast breaks moodswings and everything one thing it was not very long but a good one to pick up if like classic american house.

More of a THROW-UP than a Throwdown.......2003-05-13

After listening to the B96 Mixmaster Throwdown Vol. 2 I feel that if you plan to purchase this CD, have a set of ear-plugs handy. If ear-plugs are too hard to come by, I would advise a firm blunt object to slam over your head in order to render you unconscience. This CD is, without question, one of the worst out there. Has anyone looked at the track listing for this CD yet? If you have, you'll notice that track 17 (Big Ol' Booty by Fast Eddie) also appears (possibly a reprise??) as track 28. Honestly. In terms of listening expierence, I would listen to this CD at a very LOW volume, perferably on mute. I think that the only thing that was "Throwndown" on this CD was a bunch of horribly compiled (and often repeated) songs, beats, and rythm...not to mention that the only thing I "threwdown" was this CD in the garbage. Wait, I take that back. I actually am using it as a coaster for my beer. At least there is a latent function for this CD afterall.

Non-Stop Phat Beats Bumpin Tracks.......2000-06-12

Even if you have no idea what B96 is or don't know any of the mixmasters then this is the cd to start with. It has all the greats, To Cool Chris, Bad Boy Bill, and and Bobby D. I think everyone shouldf have this CD in their collection without a doubt.
