About the Artist
Abney Park began in nebulous, seedy bars, etching a following with dark electronica reminiscent of Depeche Mode and Billy Idol. Though gradual success was apparent, the long arm of the internet truly catapulted the exposure of Abney Park to starved souls around the world.

As the years have progressed, Abney Park’s music has transformed into an amalgam of Dead Can Dance, Danny Elfman and Rammstein, truly innovating themselves and conveying a musical maturity apparent from release to release. This has proven to be well received by fans and reviewers alike, solidifying a fan base while drawing more people into the fold everyday.

Abney Park has produced a number of CDs including ‘Return to the Fire’, ‘Cemetery Number 1’, From Dreams and Angels’ and Twisted and Broken’; the latter of which has been called a tribute CD by the artists who contributed to it (consisting of some of the biggest names in the underground music scene). In support of these and other releases, Abney Park has played live all over the North American Continent from Vancouver, Canada to Las Vegas Nevada and well over a dozen stops in between.

And that’s not all.

Abney Park has also appeared on sound tracks for movies and video games as well as a variety of compilation CDs including Cleopatra Record’s Unquiet Grave 3.

So if you’re interested in exploring a darker side of human nature, if you’re yearning for something to capture the spirit and raise the pulse, then prepare to indulge your next obsession.

Product Description
Freshening up the Dead As we play live, songs begin to evolve, and grow into new things, sometimes transforming the song – and sometimes saving the song from the brutal death of staleness. Taxidermy is a collection of recordings of newly resurrected songs from past Abney Park albums and concerts, and a few tracks you can’t get any where else. Out of pure nostalgia, we have brought the songs back to life, in these gutted and re-stuffed versions.

Try not to wince.

5 out of 5 stars No word to describe this beautiful cd.......2002-01-28

Queen Adreena's album "Taxidermy" is a real pleasure to listen to. Great soft songs sometimes and rock songs. The sounds is heavy, powerfull. The imaginary circus style of the band is a + in this perfect cd. A great moment for those who like rock songs with originality. A must.

5 out of 5 stars Taxidermy........2001-12-28

Not Afraid of anything, Ms. Katie Jane Garside will show you her feeling and is not afraid to let you in on her secrets. Katie Jane has an amazing angelic vocie, but when it comes down to it she's not afraid to let it all out. This amazing band from the UK will keep you wondering. So many questions, such a great band. Katie Jane is a girl that knows what she wants to stand for and stands for it. this album is strong in what they believe and every spirtiual, hard and very deep. this album is for everyone that has deep feelings and everyone that wants to stand for something.

5 out of 5 stars Taxidermy.......2001-03-07

Featuring the unique vocals of ex Daisy Chainsaw front-woman, Katy Jane Garside,Taxidermy is Queen Adreena's debut album.Certain comparisons can be drawn to her former band, but Queen Adreena are nothing if unique, and they are certainly more downbeat then their former incarnation. With its grainy and abrassive guitars, haunting vocals and atmospheric drums, Taxidermy isnt easy listening; but then that isnt why you should be listening to an album like this anyway. The music itself is stark and having inserted itself into your skull, it simply wont leave. The melodies displayed here are contrasted sharply with often brutal guitar riffs and heavy drumming, making for some of the greatest music to come out of Britain for a great many years. On tracks like ' I Adore You ' QA are at their best, angelic vocals over a squalling guitar sound complemented by HEAVY drumming. However, other songs show the diversity which QA have at their disposal; the excellent ' Weeds ' clearly showing the vocal prowess of Katy, as she sings in a bitter-sweet lament. What Queen Adreena have managed to record here is hard to describe in words, but if you are looking for some of the most unique music i have ever heard, than this album is most defintely for you.

5 out of 5 stars You MUST buy the import version!.......2004-01-08

In a time of loathsome redneck metal bands, Queen Adreena are one of the only newer bands still producing important music. This is their first full-length which is a bit more melodic than the follow-up 'Drink Me'. This album can't dissapoint with Crispin Gray and Katie Jane Garside formerly of Daisy Chainsaw who bring their trademark sound and beautiful lyrics. This release not only contains two memorable Katie Jane solo tunes but also an enhanced section with short films as brilliant as the music it accompanies.

      5 out of 5 stars too good.......2002-10-18

This is not for the average top 40 listener by any means. This is a true work of art plain and simple. Like raw meat for the mind. My only suggestion to you the potiental buyer is to skip the japanese version and to save a few bucks on the European one. The two bonus tracks are the sole work of katie jane without the help of her long time colaborator crispin gray. I'm not saying they are bad but, they are rather minamilistic. Probably not worth the extra wait to import or the cash. Proof that Crispin probably deserves a lot more credit than he gets.

4 out of 5 stars metal with a creative edge.......2000-09-02

Haunting, brooding, with a strange out of control sound that sounds like it's matured from their previous incarnate (Daisy Chainsaw). Though you could never accuse Daisy Chainsaw of not having a unique and interesting creativity, Queen Adreena shows a sense of maturity that shows in the songs that only time could bring. The album opens up with "Cold Fish," an ideal opener with crashing guitars and breathy, 'light-as-fairy-dust' vocals. Though many of the songs follow this similar pattern, their sound branch out into different territory. "Soda Dreamer" wanders into a sort of reverse-psychadelia, even introducing chimes into the song. "Pretty Polly" is more calm and serene, delving into the fears of lifelong commitment ("I'm afraid you're digging a grave for the best part of my life"). "I Adore You" is slow, exploring the terrain of obsession. "X-ing off the Days" containing riffs normal metal bands could only hope for. Healthy carthasis for frustrated listeners? Maybe, but the singer asks in the album "Are the Songs My Disease?" At times, the music is eerie, disquieting, but there are times when the singer's voice draws out hidden beauty from the songs. Simply put, this is an album for the listener who doesn't like metal and hard rock. It's a shame this album isn't available in this country (yet).
