5 out of 5 stars classic.......2007-05-31

Classic trance mix, one of the best ever.

There is not much I can say to convey the greatness of this album. . .

if I could give it more than 5 stars I would.

5 out of 5 stars The Absolute Best! .......2006-03-06

My absolute fav CD in the whole world! Oakenfold at his best! A must buy.

5 out of 5 stars Unbelievably Great!.......2006-02-17

Mesmerizing, Fantastic, Soul Enriching Trance that encapsulates an era passed. Eat a Mitzubishi and relive the glory. If you have the ability to purchase this box set, do so. It is worth it's weight in gold.

5 out of 5 stars The Gold Standard .......2005-12-29

No amount of hyperbole can accurately describe or capture how truly amazing this double disc is. The discs are effortlessly fluid, taking you on journey down the corridors into the world of trance. More importantly, you feel like you are actually standing on the groundfloors of Cream and witnessing Michaelangelo sculpt David. From the lightness of Summersault to the dark corners of Nightmare to the boiling energy of The Prophet, this compilation will leave you in awe. If you've never heard Oakenfold and have been wondering what the hype was about from '98-'00, this compilation will convince you that the "hype" was well-deserved.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best mix CDs of all time..........2005-10-20

This is Oakenfold at the top of his game. This mix is unbelievable. I never thought I'd like a live mix but the crowd just enhances it. When played loud enough, you'll feel like you are right there. It's the same vibe as listening to a Dead recording of a show you'd seen. You are transported.

I recognize many of the songs in the mix but many I don't and they all flow amazingly well. I can't say it sounds dated because whenever I play it, it alters whatever it is I'm doing. It remains fresh. It's definitely trance inducing but in a way only Oakenfold can do. No cheesy theatrics and no excess. This is by far one of the best mixes, hands down, ever recorded. I've never been to a live show of his but the energy just radiates through this recording.

Come to think of it, this may have been techno as we know it at its peak, before it really splintered and was labeled in a million different ways. This thing is hard to come by but if you can swing it or find a copy somewhere, fight to get it. And never loan it out and always keep a back up.

5 out of 5 stars yowzaa.......2001-07-19

old seb suprised me with this cd set. a friend had told me about seb and so i thought that i would check him out, and boy did this set kick. the first cd is supposed to give you a feel of what a typical night at cream is like, which was cool, even if the songs were old, but the 2nd cd gives a feel of what was coming into the world of music, and it more than once gave me chills. the only thing i didn't like was the way heavens scent was used as a tranistion. the track is more of a stopper song, where you look around you at the end of a party and realize the love you have for the people around you, sharing this moment with you. i don't know, i just thought that it cold have been put in later to a greater effect, but besides that, very awesome set. get this if you want to know what music is like in the uk. 5 stars.

4 out of 5 stars Classic Cream.......2000-07-24

2000 turned out to be the year of progressive trance/house, and Seb's addition to the Resident series perfectly captures that. Following Paul Oakenfold as resident of Cream was probably the hardest task for any DJ, but Seb Fontaine pulls it off with apparent ease. This CD marks the second in the Resident series; while a bit behind the Oakenfold one in smoothness and quality (and who could top that anyway?), it sure holds its own. CD One is entitled "Looking Back" and draws in the likes of Trancesetter, Timo Maas and Leftfield in a mix of the type of tracks that got Seb in the frame first of all. CD Two is "Looking Forward" and includes the tracks that have Seb`s blessings for the future. A fitting testimony to someone who has achieved success through merit alone. Containing many white labels (i.e. Timo Maas' "Ubik") it pumps out the sound of what many will hear every Saturday at Cream`s home, Nation in Liverpool. So my fellow Americans, if you would like a sampler of what Brits are dancin' to right now (and some awesome current dance music), do yourself a favour and pick this up!

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Is this really Seb's?.......2000-07-26

This Seb's album is not as great as his 3 GU Prototypes. The mixing is good, some of the tracks are excellent (CD 2 : track 1&2), but most of both CDs is commercial and repetitive. The overall impression is not what we usually expect from this great DJ. But, for me, it is psychologically difficult to rate Seb less than 4 stars (even if this one deserves 3).

3 out of 5 stars Not What I Expected.......2000-07-20

Seb's Prototype 3 was off the hook, a definite 5 stars. His tracks were deep, yet hype. Maybe I had a lot of expectations for his Cream Resident cd, but it really threw me off. CD 1 was very commercial trance, tracks i've heard of before.....really nothing new or spectacular. CD 2 started off incredible, deep house with build ups towards the end of the tracks. BUT then his tracks kinda turned very trancy again, similar to the first CD.

Although most of the tracks were trancy, they were nonetheless good tracks. Just not what I expected from him. I guess Prototype 3 just threw me into a hypnotic state.
