Customer Reviews:
You'll Wish Your Cigarettes Were This Smooth.......2006-12-02
This entire CD, with the exception of the eventually grating Dirty Harry theme, is a very pleasant aural experience. Like a refreshing liquorice cordial, it has a strong nose of rhythm and a creamy smooth guitar being held together by pepperings of horn and the pleasantly mellow bite of James Taylor's keyboards and organ. There is some repetition of grooves, but it's overall a good feeling, since the groove is good enough to bear repeating without appearing flat or hollow.
This CD has stood the test of time well and can serve as excellent chill out or driving around at night music. It's very difficult to not like James Taylor, as his music is always soulful and easy to digest. You know good music when you hear it, even if you're not a musician, so you'll know when you hear this that it's good music.
Cruising Music.......2001-04-03
This was the first JTQ album I heard, and the one that introduced me to the world of acid jazz. It sounds like the soundtrack to some cool car chase film, and a convertible or a speed boat must be the most appropiate place for its listening. Its funky consistency will put anybody in a good mood. The organ, drums and guitar are outstanding throughout, these guys really dominate their instruments. The only bad thing (if it can be considered a bad thing) is that the wah-wah is used the whole time, and this may lead some people to find the songs a bit repetitive. However, I believe JTQ have a really cool and funky sound, and in my opinion this album is their best together with Money Spider.

Customer Reviews:
Feel the Funk............2001-03-10
This album really got me going - I found it in a friend's garage on tape & then just had to buy it. I'd only heard one JTQ album previously; which I loved, but this one really seems to expand on the range & diverslty of both instruments & funky style. The second track just pulled me right into the staccato funk-wah riff, coupled with the swirling hammond signature to produce an astounding piece of 70's cop-show nuance. I love funk & this is just a prime example of another British export that defies the normal drabness of a chart saturated British music market. More!
