AND THESE GUYS ARE FROM GERMANY WITH A NAME LIKE HACIENDA!!!.......2004-09-03

I just got this CD yesterday and can honestly say after only a few listens this is a dynamic disc from beginning to end! I initially discovered these guys on the Hotel Costes 3 compilation and fell in love with the groovey "Late Lounge Lover"! The cuts on Hacienda's 3rd Door Left are a spectacular mix of downtempo, soul, acid jazz, latin, dub and bossa nova. "Working Class Glamour", "Late Lounge Lover", "Nightflight", "Nord-O.S.T.", "Blind", "Poeme" and "Quiet Nights" are all stand out tracks that really showcase the talents of group members Kadel and Finger. Kinda hard to believe that these guys are from Germany and not Spain like their namesake attests. At any rate, 3rd Door Left comes Highly Recommended!!

This is the only artist with the tone of Flora Parim(I Hope I spelled her last mane correct), which is totaly hipnotic, and a smooth funky latin jazz style. I would love to play bass for her. I will purchase this album at a later time,this is pure latin jazz at it`s most inovative, suductive styling. True art and beauty in sound.

decent but lacks a bit in energy and originality.......2001-04-22

Half the songs are lounge instrumental songs, half are with a Brazilian female vocalist. The lounge songs are good, but the vocalist sounds like she wants to be done with this studio recording and go and do something else. That happy carnival feeling is not really there.

Less electronic, funkier Hacienda will get more devotees........2000-12-15

This third offering of the german combo is certainly an ensemble of vibes and influences that came as a surprise to me. This is not the sound of Sunday Afternoon or Narrowed Eyes, this is much more in the vein of Jazzanova if anything. Perhaps I would have rated this album better if I hadn't bought Drum and Bossa by Landslide. It's just that the Brazilian saudade gets overused and becomes boring after a while. Nonetheless 3rd door left has great moments and with 17 songs you really can't expect much more. There is only one Amon Tobin that can enthrall you for hours on end without repeating himself in the process. I guess this record will bring Hacienda closer to the mainstream sound and make them far more popular. Not quite sure whether that's good or bad.

After a amazing 1st album, tree years ago, which have maded from HACIENDA one of the lighthouses of the electronic fleet from Germany / Austria, 3rd door left heads to the bossanova and etnic styles now in vogue. Nothing really new, but incredibly well done,and in two words: pure plesure !
