Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars good.......2006-05-14

This is a pretty good mix. Deeizm's vocals on the beginning of the mix are god awful, but she really improves through the rest of the set. The instrumental disc is far better, but there're no big surprises. I wish they would've minimized the crowd noises-- It's kind of goofy to hear people cheering while Makoto plays pre-recorded music.

3 out of 5 stars Good Mix, But not what I expected.......2005-09-14

What the heck happened with GLO? They have this new sound that is far from the "logical" progession and atmospheric sound that made Bukem so intoxicating. Progession Session 5..remember track 1 and how it started out and then changing moods on tracks 3 & 4? Progession Sessions 6 was maybe as far as I'd go in actually liking what was being played. Someone needs to bring back that vibe that seems to be all but forgotten.

3 out of 5 stars Good stuff from Makoto and Deeizm.......2005-08-16

At last, a Progression Sessions mix not by LTJ Bukem & Conrad! Don't get me wrong, I love Bukem (even if I am getting a little tired of Conrad), but it's nice to see someone else taking up the Progression Sessions mantle for a change and giving us a mix of the latest tunes from Good Looking. It's not just about LTJ Bukem, after all! Makoto is an accomplished DJ, and although I don't really approve of the new 'liquid funk' direction that Good Looking seems to be taking, this doesn't mean that it isn't a good mix. The mixing is tight and the mood is constant throughout, which is all you can ask for really.

I love the opening track, Makoto's 'Joy', 'My Life' by Greg Packer and the deeper moments provided by Laroque's 'Sublime Intervention' and Ed Gee & Vice Versa's 'I Feel It'. It's also nice to hear a remix of Makoto's anthemic 'Take My Soul Baby', and 'Planet Saturn' by Drumsound & Simon Bassline Smith is an excellent haunting atmospheric amen roller with soaring horns and a punchy bassline. And the outro track 'Feelin'' by Greg Packer is funkin' in every way: Fabio would definitely approve! Makoto's record placement is second to none; every track is great and just where it should be.

New MC Deeizm is a great addition to the Good Looking stables, the way she sings over the tracks really elevates the mood of the mix. Go Deeizm! Hope to see more of her in the future.

Sticking points? I miss the old Good Looking sound! This is a good mix CD, don't get me wrong, but I prefer the traditional atmospheric or 'logical' Good Looking sound as typified on the first 6 Progression Sessions mix CDs and the 4 Logical Progression compilation CDs, which is why I have only given this CD 3 stars. So, if you are like me, you may be a little disappointed by this CD. But if you are a liquid funk head, you will find this mix CD second to none.

5 out of 5 stars Deeizm melts over Makotos beautiful selections.......2004-12-22

Definetly one of the best in the ProgSess series.

Makoto plays a perfectly soulful set. He manages to mix in alot of more ambient tunes along side more up beat tunes, creating a truley beautiful set.

Special big ups must be given to Deeizm, who completely destroys the microphone on CD1. She has a beautiful voice, and sings perfectly with the tunes, working with the melodies and beat patterns incredibly well. Doing what she does- rhyming and singing (often freestyling) to live music running at over 170bpm, and doing it all so effortlessly- this is true vocal talent. DEEIZM is THE reason to pick up this CD.

The Tokyo crowd wasn't overly loud, but they still did a decent job.

Definetly one of my all time fav CDs.

4 out of 5 stars Makoto carries the torch!.......2004-08-03

I was lucky enough to actually be at the show from which this set was recorded. It was probably one of the best DNB sets I have ever seen, and this CD faithfully recreates the mood. Deezim doesn`t let up with the funk and Makoto doesn`t let up on the beats. Absolutley fantastic mix!
