Looking for the Starblazers Season 1 Soundtrack? This is it........2007-06-15

I'm not going to review the actual music on this disc, because if you're reading this you probably are already a fan. Since there were no reviews, I thought I would add one to clarify what this disc contains. I did research on several anime websites to find out which disc I should buy, and it was this one.

If you're like me, you are searching for the music to the US Starblazers TV series. There are many import discs on the market, ranging from symphonic suites to this collection. BGM = Back Ground Music. If you want the exact music queues from the first TV series, this is it. There are over 30 tracks, so many are very short - the disc is only 40+ minutes. These are sound snippets plus the opening/closing themes for the show. There are 2 tracks with vocals in Japanese, including the title track, so don't expect to hear "We're Off..to outerspace" unless you understand Japanese.

Overall, I'm glad I purchased this - it's the right amount of nostalgia for me for a good price. I couldn't justify the $99 or higher discs I saw on the market, plus I really didn't know how they differed from this one. I believe Part 2 of the BGM series is for the Comet Empire, or series 2.

The song "An Eye for an Eye" written by Bush is worth the cost of the album. Bush is the greatest. I think he would be bigger than Wllie Nelson if he hadn't developed spasm dystonia in the middle of his career. Here he is backto his old form, you hear the great country caruso again!

A next-to-best music collection, right behind the legendary 5-CD set........2007-06-12

This is a definitive collection of so much of the Japanese music used in Dragon Ball Z, though one could question its "completeness" (it still doesn't contain every single piece of music that was ever used in the show, like the 30 seconds of dramatic music from the Bardock special at the beginning where the view is a planet called Kanassa and then it switches to a close-up pan of its civilization, just before the Saiyans attack in their Oozaru form. It was also the 'main' theme in The Tree of Might, DBZ Movie #3.) In spite of it being far from complete, it still features the essential tracks that were last seen on the LEGENDARY 5-CD SET. THAT'S where the overwhelming majority of this set comes from. You still have the most requested tracks like "THE MONSTER FREEZA V.S. SUPER SAIYA-JIN SON GOKU!!," "MARCH OF THE ARTIFICIAL HUMANS" and the theatrical music suite of the first DBZ movie Dead Zone plus new editions like "SON GOHAN'S MUSIC SUITE," which is essentially a collection of Gohan's theme from real early in the show, in all its many variations, the newly lengthened music suite for DBZ Movie #7 The 3 Super Saiya-jin, and for the first time ever, all the rest of the music that didn't make the cut on the 5-CD set, and those are from after the Great Saiyaman saga in DBZ.

Running at three discs, this is a pretty great collection for any Dragon Ball fan, and it's an especially nice alternative for those who don't own the 5-CD set since it became out-of-print long ago. It comes with a booklet, which of course is in Japanese, and the entire set is packaged in a little graphics box featuring Goku and the fighting cast of DBZ at the front and the Great Dragon with the dragon balls on the back. Very nice packaging. The CD's are each put in a slim jewel case, which will contain a front cover that pertains to a period of time on the show. In this case, the first disc has a picture of Goku and adult Gohan plus Goten, Chibi Trunks, Vegeta and Piccolo fighting alongside them against a red background. I find it to be extremely odd because this picture would pertain to the Great Saiyaman and Buu sagas, and the first disc actually showcases music straight from the Vegeta and Freeza sagas. I don't know why they didn't use an image that reflected on the content of the first disc. The second and third discs have covers that relate better to their contents in terms of who is on the cover and what this image means. I especially like the cover for disc two, which is of the Z team flying and looking up, and Goku, Mirai Trunks, Piccolo and Vegeta are at their forefront positions, while Gohan, Kurillin and the rest of the Z fighters are on the sidelines. That is essentially the Trunks/Androids/Cell saga in a nutshell.

In short, I highly recommend it to Dragon Ball fans and all music fans in general.
