Sounds GREAT..........2006-11-16

I am going to review many Time-Life items that I have purchased over the years - Sounds of the 70's, Sounds of the 70's (Take Two), Legends of Rock & Roll, numerous 60's CDs & 50's CDs. The recordings are excellent and I know all the tunes - most have at least 18 songs. I would recommend any of Time-Life's compilations to anyone, who is looking for a great CD with alot of songs, we all know. The only complaint I have is that the CDs should have been maximized on the 50's & 60's selections. All in all, a very good purchase...

The buyer should be made aware that this is 70s disco from the european viewpoint. If a club in the U.S.A. were to play these songs in the 70s their customers would vacate the premises. Basically , no single compliation exists which captures the sounds of the 70s dance floor in the USA, with the exception of the Rebound series. The dance music of the 70's was pretty much soul music and funk which was a jazz fusion, thanks to James Brown. Once it is understood this cd in no way resembles the USA 70s dance scene, it can be enjoyed for what it is, a very upbeat collection of songs which is unique in itself. Don't look for any showstoppers on this set of 2 cds.
