5 out of 5 stars A very strong argument for compilation cd's.......2002-11-15

The track selection is well thought out and is a valid representation of the genre

5 out of 5 stars This CD is one of my FAVORITES...........2002-05-29

I'm not sure what was going on with reviewer number 1...I cannot say enough about this CD. It's upbeat, stirring, and soothing all at once. I've played this CD for many of my friends and colleagues...each and every one wants this CD and many have tried to find it! Keeping that in mind, please do not feel that this review comes from one person! I can round up about 6 more that will concur with my assessment. It definitely hits the mark for me. There isn't one CD out there that works for everyone, but this one comes close!

4 out of 5 stars Great stuff...4.5 stars........2002-02-09

Not sure what the other reviewer was complaining about, this is a great-though not perfect CD. I have owned ALL of the After Hours series and this is still my favorite. There are some great upbeat tracks here as well as some quiet 'night' music like the Porchini track at the end. A few tracks left something to be desired but on the whole it's enjoyable.

2 out of 5 stars Very dissapointing.......2002-01-07

I bought volume 4 of this series and for weeks it wouldn't leave my cd player. On a whim I bought volume 3 without listening to it first and regretted it. This cd is very emotionless and none of the tracks stand out. I would reccomend passing this one up and purchasing Volume 4 instead, it's a much better representation of this series. Or, for a sure hit, buy any volume in the "Future Sounds of Jazz" compilation (if you can find them) and you will not be dissapointed. This jazz/electronic compilation style can be incredible, they just didn't hit the mark with this particular cd.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars This is definitely NOT rave.......2006-10-15

Allow me to give you a little background: I purchased this at Best Buy because I was looking for an impulse purchase after having some leftover money on my gift card. I have personally been to several raves within past year, so I speak with experience.

Unfortunately for me, I didn't inspect this product very much before purchasing it. After bringing it home, I made a few discoveries: the first discovery I made was that this product was made in 2001. Electronic music has changed HEAVILY during this time thus making this product sound extremely inferior. The second discovery I made is that for all 3 CDs, they use the same artists. This truely is the bargain bin for electronic music.

The music on this CD sounds like someone just picked up a copy of Orion Pro for the first time and used all the default sounds to make some extremely repetitive loops. These loops will change predictibly and not very often. I personally couldn't stand to listen to any track past the 2:30 mark. The only reason why I left it go that long was the hope that something good would happen, but alas it failed every time. I wanted to give it a chance to redeem itself, but it never did.

I'm not sure how these artists actually made it to the shelves of Best Buy or a record label for that matter. The tracks are horribly simple and uninspired. I seriously doubt that even back in 2001 that this is what a Rave sounded like. If it did, it's no wonder why Raves dies down right around that time. The people who made this CD obviously didn't go to any Raves and thought that they could pass this off to people who have never been to one either. If you are looking for what good Rave music sounds like, I suggest listening to DI.FM's Hardcore channel.

I'm just glad I didn't actually pay money for this garbage.

4 out of 5 stars Repetative, but I like it.......2005-12-15

I never really knew what rave music sonded like until I bought this CD. I was a little dissapointed with what it sounded like, because it was not at all how I had imagined it. However, its not bad music. I must say, for repetative music, its good. When I bought the CD, though, disc 3 was in front and disc 1 was in back. I didn't really understand what that was about. And to make it more confusing, I think they printed the track listing wrong. Its a great compilation, but again, good luck figuring out what the name of your favorite songs are.

5 out of 5 stars Euro trance in a popular compilation... NICE.......2005-04-05

Normally I would skip past these mainstream looking compilations... as a dj I can be quite a snob sometimes. But I am trilled that I was given this cd as a gift. I happen to think Kyau v. Albert are fantastic producers.. I own a few of their vinyl through anjunabeats, and this mix was a nice euro trance collection. A little like Armin Van Buuren's Universal Religion, but to be similar to that album aint nothin to complain about! Excellent buy, worth the money!

2 out of 5 stars This is CRAP !!!.......2005-03-31

Alright, maybe I'm being a little harsh, and I probably shouldn't even be writing this review so soon. I just got this cd 2 days ago and I've only heard it once. If you saw my review for volume 2 then you know that I shouldn't have wrote this just yet. But I've already written like 4 other reviews tonight, so I'm in that mode. My complaints for this cd are as follows; Why oh why is Kyau vs. Albert mixing this cd. I'll tell ya, that's a disaster waiting to happen. And it DID happen!! I bet most people don't even know who they are. I've stumbled across a few of their wack works in the past and regreted it, even though it was accidental. I bet it's because of them that there's more soft songs than hard songs on this cd. Even worse is that though listening to the hard trance songs on here is like getting a breath of fresh air, they're significantly shorter than the softer songs!! Especially after song 13. Granted that's half way through the hard trance songs (the first half of the cd is soft, the second half is hard). The only two songs that I CAN love on here are "thinking of you" by OHM Boys, and "Love comes again" by Tiesto feat. BT. They make quite the duo, I hope they do more together. Their's is the most innovative song I've heard in a while. But even that's not worth buying this cd.
