Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Smooth..........2004-02-23

One of the smoothest mixes I own, aside from maybe Dave Ralph. And not only is this mix smooth, but it's dark, and dirty enough to stay fun. It sounded average the first time I listened to it, so I put it away for a few weeks, to let it "age." The other day while I was cleaning off my CD shelf, I picked it back up, and popped it in my CD player, for a second, unbiased opinion. It blew my mind. The tracks were clean, dark, and impressive. They all flowed together very well, and kept me interested throughout the whole album. I found myself actually putting off my work on Photoshop to devote my full attention to the album.

To clear this up now, Disc 1 is fantastic, and I thouroughly enjoyed every minute of it. But Disc 2 is golden. Hard, driving beats took my mind off everything going on around me (not a good thing, on occasion), and just let me immerse myself in the world of music. I haven't had this pure of a feeling listening to a CD in a long time. Pick this one up, at any cost. If you're an avid fan of Progressive, imagine Dave Ralph crossed with Sander K. It's really that good.

5 out of 5 stars top notch representative of the new wave.......2002-04-27

the new wave, proggy house which has little melody and vocals, is defined more by beats and percussion that slowly morph in and out of existence. some may criticize the cd as one that changes very little from the beginning to the end, but that criticism can also be twisted around to mean that parks and wilson are so subtle in their track choices and mixing that the result is a seamless cd of music that all fits together cohesively. this cd is a lot darker than most proggy house cds you'll find, including digweed's newer gus, so don't come here for cheer-me-up music, look instead to tiesto or perhaps van dyk for that. instead, this is a slow methodic energy thumping mix that will not command your attention, but is rather something that fades into the world around you.

cd1 is impeccable. although sadly parks and wilson have fallen into the trap of having an intro song that seems to be nothing but filler to me, the rest of the cd thumps away at a consistency to be marveled. monotonous if you focus exclusively on it, but calmly soothing and very suitable to dance to if you just feel the music instead of analyzing it. cd2 is nearly as good, yet the last couple of songs, the letdown of emotion, so to speak, ruin the set because the vibe of the cd is completely changed. i praise parks and wilson for their consistency, but when that consistency is torn apart the last 10 minutes of cd2, i must criticize them.

nonetheless, a high quality cd that should prove to be one of the best of the new darker strain of progressive house.

5 out of 5 stars Deep Chuggy progressive at its best!.......2002-03-22

Some people always complain that Progressive house is to slow ,maybe for people who cant dance? who always need to be jumping up and down? I dont know these cds are what this genre is all about and should be all about. Journey into deep dark brooding basslines with chuggy drums to push you along into a melodic sway of dancing.
way to go parks and wilson!
cheers

1 out of 5 stars Another boring one from 2 unquestionably talented producers!.......2002-03-04

Short and sweet, this is a flawlessly mixed 2 CD set of extremely boring tunes!

A lot of people say that progressive house is boring. The fact is it doesn't have to be - there are a lot of amazing and exciting tunes out there, so it can all depend on what the DJ chooses to play.

In this case Parks ans Wilson have chosen to play a lot of boring tunes! (as their Tilt partner, John Graham, did with Transport 5!)

But, it all comes down to taste and personal preference. You may like it. I just don't find it very exciting at all. And I LOVE progressive house.

BEWARE!

5 stars for mixing - negative 5 stars for track selection!
