Young Jeezy is hardly breaking new ground in rapping endlessly about the similarities between the trap game and the rap game. He joins a distinguished line of former 'caine slangers turned MC--Scarface, Jay-Z, the Clipse, Biggie, etc. However, despite the familiarity of Jeezy's topics, this Atlanta rapper has managed to make a bi-coastal splash through the strength of his mic presence and charisma. As the stand-out member of ATL's Boyz N Tha Hood, Jeezy has distinguished himself against the field of contemporary rappers. More rugged than the Game, though not as charming as Cam'ron, Jeezy's work-horse flow and lyrics are draped into evocative street-level realism. Though the Southern influence is obvious in many of the album's bounce and crunk-influenced beats, he shows an impressive diversity of sound selection including on his current street anthems for this summer like"Trap Star," "My Hood," and the sublimely melancholy "Go Crazy." -- Oliver Wang

5 out of 5 stars I luv it.......2006-12-14

Jeezy's first album reminds me of his boss's fist Album. Jay's classic is hard to come close to, but Jeezy comes very close. From start to finish this album set's itself apart from a lot of music that came out that year. The beats fit his style of lyrics, and he holds his own on tracks with other artist. Sometimes the greatest rime is not the most complex, but the greatest rime is the most understandable. Jeezy is not just a rapper, Jeezy is a movement.

4 out of 5 stars Top 10 Rap Album of 2005.......2006-10-26

Jeezy did a song called Over Here with Bun B and I kind of liked it, but once I heard Go Crazy...I went crazy. The opening is a thing of beauty, so much so Hip-hop radio stations use it for their segues. Jeezy sold me with My Hood. I'm not from the hood, but I just get it. I listen to this album when I'm cleaning the house or styling my hair before work. Good album, one of the best of 2005.

3 out of 5 stars Something about this release.........2006-10-10

There's something oddly appealing in Young Jeezy's work. His lyrics are typical hustler fare, that's clear. His production is top-notch, but how many releases off of Def Jam have wack production? It's something about Jeezy's style that is audibly pleasing. So, excuse me if I try to decipher exactly what it is in this review, all while giving a rundown of the material at hand.

I'm a large fan of east coast hip-hop, and when it comes to subject matter, Jeezy appears to fit in with the first coast moreso than the second and third, even if it's not where he actually hails from. The majority of this album shows you exactly where Jeezy's Snowman alias comes from; it's about moving the white stuff. No, I don't mean the powdered sugar you sprinkle over your pancakes on Christmas morning, although it is something else with a powderary substance.

When it comes to hip-hop, although New York's my home for the music, I also find great comfort in good Southern albums. I'm actually quite affectionate of them; I understand that most of the south isn't full of profound lyricists, but they do the best with what God gave them. Houston's my number one spot for hot Southern artists, but Atlanta's a place I visit quite often; before Jeezy, for OutKast, Goodie Mobb, and T.I. It looks like I'll have to stop at Young Jeezy's during my time there now, too.

But what is it that seperates Jeezy from the rest of the gangstas today? What seperates him from the 50 Cents, Tony Yayos, Jim Jones, and Rick Rosses of hip-hop, and where does he succeed where these artists fail?

Personality. Charisma. Microphone presence. Things that rappers better than him lyrically don't always possess. He also has one hell of an ear for beats, and no matter how cheesy his continuous "Yeeeeeeeeeeeahs" and "Riiiiiiiiiiiights" may get, they contribute to the infectiousness of Jeezy's music.

This isn't a classic release. There are a few mishaps here and there on the album, and no matter how oddly charming Jeezy maybe, he can get on your nerves after a long period of time. Tracks that never get old(in my opinion) are cuts like "Soul Survivor," the title track, "Standing Ovation," "Trap Star," "And Then What," and "Go Crazy." This is Southern fried hip-hop with a heavy east coast influence. Jeezy isn't getting it crunk, and Jeezy isn't getting metaphysical; he's just rapping about what he knows, and that's enough to make this a quality release. Recommended to those with an open-mind.

3 out of 5 stars Its alright.......2006-10-02

Standout tracks: STANDING OVATION, GANGSTA MUSIC, AND THEN WHAT, GO CRAZY, LAST OF A DYING BREED(trick daddy had the best verse of the song), BOTTOM OF THE MAP, BANG(T.I and Scrappy floor Jeezy on this one), DONT GET CAUGHT, SOUL SURVIVOR, TRAP OR DIE(Bun B shuts it down), TEAR IT UP(slick pulla made this song alright) and AIR FORCES(the beat is crazy). Filler: My hood(chopped up version of T.I's rubberband man), Trap star(even the beat is awful), Thug motivation 101, Thats how you feel etc. Bottom Line: Although I hate the Sauce I do have to agree with them on the point that Jeezy is not lyrical. He tends to use the same word to make a rhyme on every other song. If this much is so then why give him 3 stars? For the songs that I like on this album and the production is crazy(minus Trap star and My hood) and his punchlines and metaphors are hilarious. But alas he'll fall off soon. How long can you rap about coke and guns before it gets tired?

1 out of 5 stars Terrible garbage........2006-09-04

Anyone ever see any of these rap "artists" perform live? They're the most boring, derivative "entertainers" in the world. They walk up and down the stage grabbing their crotch and YELL their lyrics. They go from talking on records to yelling on stage. Quite a stretch. All this is done with about thirty of their no-name friends prancing around stage with microphones saying "YEAH!" "UH-HUH!" "WHAT!" "THAT'S RIGHT!" "UH!" etc. Get real.

Meanwhile, the only "music" provided is a backing track cued by some dude backstage. It makes for the most dull, predictable "concert" you'll ever see.

I can't wait until all this nonsense just disappears. In a world of common sense, these idiots would still be flipping burgers at McDonald's.

    5 out of 5 stars Wow.......2006-06-17

If this is any indication of how ill his new CD's gonna be, I might cop it on the first day. The mixtape is paced well with good guest appearances. Slick Pulla's good enough to go bar for bar with Jeezy, too. He's more of the same on this CD, but got probably 10x better, lyrically. Still spittin the real

    4 out of 5 stars I like it a lot but..........2006-05-31

I agree with anyone who doesn't like Slick Pulla because he messed up the flow of the CD. Whenever I heard a song him on it I'd skip it. And I wish that Jeezy had used more original beats instead of using everyone elses... The thing that suprised me most is the CD wasn't supposed to be released until 5-30-06 when I had it early February... So when is he expected to make a new album? I was looking forward to one this summer. I hope that Jeezy comes through and does make a cd better than the others like thug motivation but that is going to be hard. He was the hottest out last summer when you listen to it, it gets you hype. Jeezy the Snowman, Ya Dig, and USDA's the Click were the best to me (off the top of my head).Jeezy's hot regardless but he has to continue to work if he wants to make it back to the top. There isn't any good music out if you know of any let me know...

R u serious? Jeezy gettin mo and mo commercial every song. he dun got outta hand with them adlibs. Da A takin notes. He dun hated so bad and now people dun started hating on him. I give him til bout september to get back to the old Jeezy before he fall off. REAL TALK!!!!

4 out of 5 stars Not better than Thug Motivation but.............2006-05-12

Dont get me wrong though. Hes got some hot tracks like I'm Back, Jeezy the Snowman, and others. Theres no way any CD of his will be better that Thug Motivation if he keeps Slick Pulla on his mixtapes. Every song he's on, i skip it. I still recommened this CD though with Jeezy's great rapping and the tight beats.

    4 out of 5 stars I have become a WALKING MACHINE!!!!!.......2007-05-12

In training for walking a 3-Day (60 mile) event, I needed to "up my pace". This has brought my walking time to 12-13 minute miles! It's amazing! It is for a 1 hour workout. I play & replay the 4 different cardio intensities based on my length of walk ( 9 - 11 miles usually ) Wish it were longer!

I would have given this 5 stars but at level 2 there are some female vocalizations that irritate me - in spots the notes are seriously FLAT! (as a singer it drives me crazy! haha!) There's another section where a "Sweat now" chant repeats too many times & also detracts from the moment.

Overall, however, it's value to me is MORE THAN worth these two annoyances. The beat makes me walk like a MACHINE - following the reminder to breathe, relax muscle groups, focus on future goals, enjoy... I feel like I've got a TRAINER in my head!

1 out of 5 stars it had words!.......2007-02-22

I was dissappointed because the music was great, but it had a mans voice saying breathe, or good job the entire cd. I either did not notice this in the description or it was hidden. Therefore, I sent it back.

    5 out of 5 stars WOW 5 times over!.......2006-07-02

I have played this CD now plenty of times - sometimes for workouts but more often to keep me motivated enough to finish my Saturday am house cleaning session! Either way I love the rhythms and divine drumbeats - it is fun and groovy and keeps me going when I would rather stop! For anybody looking for something a little different, you can't go wrong here. Are you dong another one Mr Eric Wilson??

5 out of 5 stars Get up and walk!.......2006-06-27

This CD will keep you walking until you slim down! I have lost one size and feel awesome! I have been using it for the past 2 months and look forward each day to get moving! You will love it.

    1 out of 5 stars Boring & monotonous.......2005-12-05

Don't waste your money. This is repetitive and boring. Didn't fuel my workout.

5 out of 5 stars Being Observed- "that's just how I feel, Mom!".......2007-01-10

Our daughter is a 4th year teacher who puts her whole heart into teaching, but dreads being observed. The song on this CD made her cry because it expressed just how she feels- observers tell her she is a remarkable teacher, but she is sure they will say she's no good!
We knew she would like this CD as she raved over the first one.

    5 out of 5 stars YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A TEACHER.......2006-02-19

You don't have to be a teacher to enjoy this album. We all have classroom memories that will be stirred by the selections. We have teachers than have inspired us; we perhaps have even known our own "Bill, the janitor." The vocal quality is superb; the sound quality is excellent. This is probably the best gift you could give to a teacher, or to anyone who loves kids. If you buy one as a gift for your favorite teacher, just make sure you have one to keep for yourself.

5 out of 5 stars Another Great Mix for Teachers...........2006-01-08

Judy has done it again!! She has taken those experiences common to all teachers and made them enjoyable and humorous in her songs....If you need a laugh and a little stress relief....just pop in her CD...instant P.D.for the teacher in all of us!!!

    5 out of 5 stars A HILARIOUS WINNER!.......2005-12-08

As a fellow educator, TEACHER OF THE YEAR makes me take a more objective--and humorous--view of myself and my vocation. Judy is able to take the joys, sorrows, and frustrations of teaching and set them in such a light that you remember why you went into education in the first place. TEACHER OF THE YEAR is a motivator and a hilarious winner!

5 out of 5 stars And the true songs about teaching just keep coming!.......2005-12-01

"Teacher Therapy" was a great album, so how could Mrs. Bowen top or equal it? By coming up with a whole batch of new songs that continue to be the best discription of what being a teacher is all about, that's how! If you are a teacher, this is the newest and most delightfully funny, honest, and genuine view of classroom teaching you could possibly find. And if you know a teacher and are searching for a gift that will be most appreciated, this is it.

I was hoping that the Hungry Husterz would be as dope as Afroman is, and they didnt dissapoint me. PoBoy and STRAINJ are tight. Afroman is on almost every track too. Ive been playing this CD on repeat for like a week allready, and its still dope. Afroman, and the Hustlerz are the dopest rappers in the game, and i would buy anything that they put out. Afromanmusic.com! go buy it!

5 out of 5 stars stainj is so tight on this cd.......2004-12-23

First i would like to say that every song ive ever heard from afroman is seriously amazing. I swear this is exactly what hip hop and the rap game needs. His lyrics and flow are really good, his beats are soo tight. He has his own unique style thats irresistable. Everyone should pick up a copy of this cd and all of his others.Afroman is down to earth and talks about real stuff and also loves talking about having a good time with his homies smoking weed and getting drunk. He is really funny too. He's not all about smoking weed and he dosnt talk about it to be cool. Just have an openmind and please listen, just because he isnt a mainstream rapper like 50 cent dosnt mean he isnt good. Everytime i listen to one of his cd's it automatically puts me in a good mood. I reccommend to get all of cds, you will NOT be dissapointed. Albums: 1.Sell your dope 2.The Good Times 3.Afroholic - The even better times 4.4ro:20
And he has a christmas album Afroman - Jobells which is really funny

      5 out of 5 stars Hungry Hustla.......2004-12-19

The Fro Family is hungry on this disk. Beats are tight and lyrics are from the heart.. Blacq, Strainj, Lowkey, Ziggzags and AFroman do the majority of the work on these tracks and put together an underground legend..Help defeat corporate america and join the streetteam..www.afromanmusic.com (join the hungry hustla family)

      4 out of 5 stars Great Inspiration.......2005-04-10

These songs are inspirational. I couldn't stop singing I'm Still Standing by Elton John long after listening to it. One complaint is I Am Woman by Helen Reddy. Its a great song but it lacks the motivational value to this gentleman. I find it odd to be singing I am woman watch me roar. They should have made this collection gender neutral.

5 out of 5 stars Good for your attitude........1999-10-25

Music doesn't just have an effect on you WHILE you're listening; those words and melodies keep running around in your head. To have the best attitude, it helps to have positive, life-giving, healthy words going through your mind, and this CD does the trick. I am the author of the book, Self-Help Stuff That Works, and I'm an expert on what it takes to keep a good attitude, and this CD, without a doubt, does the trick. As long as you're going to listen to good music, the words might as well lift you up, too!

5 out of 5 stars Totally Awesome!!!!! Jump-starts the soul........1999-01-30

This is one the best CD's I have listened to, for the spirit, in a long time. It really gets you jumping and helps to lift the spirits...listen to the words and it is really uplifting....from Elton John's "I'm Still Standing " to Paul Anka"s "My Way". I feel like I could conquer anything that comes my way.

4 out of 5 stars Jeezy Represents Real Hip Hop.......2006-12-13

No wonder Jeezy got Jay's blessing, and a guest shot too! This album is a classic, if you don't have it by now; go buy it!

        2 out of 5 stars All Hype (2.5 Stars).......2006-03-09

Never underestimate the power of good hype. Good hype got Lil' Kim a 5 mic rating in The Source and good hype has people thinking Jeezy is more than a below average rapper. Don't believe the hype though, Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101 is simply a display of good production. The beats are the only thing that keeps this from being a certified drink coaster. I think the record execs out there know that no one listens to words anymore, otherwise the good people at Def Jam would've never let this record see the light of day. Even Jeezy would agree with me....just listen to "Gangsta Music" to hear what I'm talkin' about. Even on "Get Ya Mind Right" he says "I ain't gotta rap, I'ma do numbers..." Truer words have never been spoken. Honestly, if you look past the singles, a good 98% of this album is filler. The lyrics are elementary and his flow doesn't exist. So someone tell me, what's all the hype about? By the way, I'm not one of these people that hates southern or mainstream rap either.I really wanted to like this album, it just didn't happen. Hell, half the time he doesn't even rhyme on beat.

There are probably 3 or 4 songs on the album that are good (and when I say good, I mean the beat is bangin'.....there are no memorable lyrics on this album). Actually, the singles are the highlights of the album. "Go Crazy" is cool, but the remix with Jay Z is better. "Soul Survivor" features Akon and will definitely move some butts in the club. "And Then What" feat. Mannie Fresh is cool, but loses replay value after about a week. Also, "Trap Star" is another good song if you can get past the terrible hook. Once you get past the singles, all you have left is some gangster posturing (notice how I didn't call it rapping) over good/decent production. If you're looking for dope verses, look elsewhere. The best lines on the entire album come from Young Buck (and he only has one verse) on "Last Of A Dying Breed" despite its boring beat and mailed in verses from Jeezy and Trick Daddy.

I can't blame Jeezy for cashing in on good hype. It's the American way, after all. The fact is that the beats carry this album because the guy rapping sounds like he just got into rap a week ago. This album will easily go platinum, but that's the power of good hype. The people who actually respect rap music probably won't come within 10 feet of this album anyway. When it comes down to it, I can't recommend this album to anyone.

Standout Tracks: Go Crazy, Trap Star, And then What feat. Mannie Fresh, My Hood, Soul Survivor feat. Akon

5 out of 5 stars JEEZY IS THE ISH!!.......2005-08-04

At first I was skeptical but i am glad I invested in the Jezzy CD. He is a very nice rapper. I personally enjoy the following songs in no particular order

        * And Then What
        * Tear It Up
        * Last of A Dying Breed
        *Soul Survivor
        *Trap or Die

I think that success is in Jeezy's future. The buzz that he has right now is tremendous and I believe he will live up to the hype. This coming from an occassional rap listener.
