Editorial Reviews

Product Description
You could say that Detroit electronica pioneer Stacey Pullen was destined for musical greatness at birth! His father was part of the then well known Motown group the Capitols which provided Stacey with an enviroment filled with the personalities and classic songs of Motown’s tight knit community.

Stacey became hooked on keyboards and drums at a young age and soon his infatuation with these base elements of music led him to the explore the tribal sounds that were percolation out of Detroits fertile underground. Inspired by the eras key stalwarts including Kraftwerk, and The Electrifyin’ Mojo Stacey began piecing together his own projects which eventually led to him receiving the great honor of working in the studio side by side with fellow Detroit pioneers Kevin Reese Saunderson and Derrick May.

Fast forward to 2003. Stacey Pullen is now one of the genres most respected pioneers with countless singles, remixes and his own label Black Flag. Stacey’s exotic mixing style has taken him all over North and South America, Europe, and Asia. Fabric 14 demonsrtates Stacey’s ecelectice mixing style – he says he "never knows [what he may play] I just play from the heart and never categorize it." However, although Stacey isn’t eager to catergorize his selections or his sets overall many of his emphatic fans will and eagerly label them both… as "pure genius." Enjoy!

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Smooth blend of tribal house.......2005-03-01

When I first saw Stacey Pullen, he rocked the house with his signature Detroit Techno and I loved it. This CD however, is not one of his live sets. This CD is one of my favorites now, and it sits right next to the groovy tribal house of Steve Lawler's Lights Out CDs. He keeps the music flowing and gradually building until (my favorite)track 10 where it climaxes and makes my day. Awesome track selection and great mixing. *****

5 out of 5 stars Fresshhh Tribal House Goods..........2004-03-17

I've known Stacy Pullen for a while now. I didn't give him either any chance to listen to nor see him live. Just of curiosity I decided to buy this album, its only 1 CD, so I thought I have nothing to lose either =)
The CD is exactly what it re-phrases to the title of my review. I love house music and this is by far the most freshess tribal, funky, jazzy house! It starts off very jazzy with smooth beats, then it progresses to a bit more darkier & sexier side. Stacy does a good job of transiting between the songs, its not that easy going all of a sudden from dark to more triablar-funkier side of house. Overall a wicked CD, what else can i say!
The tracklist is well put together, mixing is top-noth, on the spot =) I recommend this CD to long-term house listeners, this is a really fressh & sexy mix!

Album Description

In his 15 years behind the decks, DJ Spinbad has accomplished more as a DJ than most artists could ever imagine. He's performed in more than 20 countries, headlined tours with multi-platinum artists Moby and Dido, opened for bands such as No Doubt and The Backstreet Boys and appeared on dozens of TV shows, including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Late Show with David Letterman. Spin has put together what has been called the most bootlegged mix tape of all time (Rock The Casbah... '80s Megamix) and is currently honing his own production skills.

Spinbad stands out from other New York DJs because of his scratching skills and ability to compose crazy multi-tracked intros and megamixes. Fans can catch him on New York City's popular radio station Power 105.1's Saturday night prime time spot.

The FabricLive project is DJ Spinbad's first official mix album. It gave him the freedom to play a lot of different songs that the listeners are receptive to. With plenty of party vibe throughout the album, he's included songs from Nas, KRS-One, A Tribe Called Quest, Run DMC, Rob Base, The Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash, Slick Rick and many others!
