I Agree With Jose D. Cardona.......2005-12-23

This album isn't bad, it's pretty good really, it's just not great. One thing that would've bumped this one up to 5 stars for me is if they'd have used the full 12" mix's. The CD's not mixed and every track still only lasts from between 3-5 minutes, and personally I feel a little cheated when producers do that because you're not getting the whole song. It's like they want you to have to go out and buy the singles too. The DVD is pretty cool, it's got them performing 7 tracks live, and then you also get 3 really corny videos also. One of the best tracks on the DVD "Black Snow" isn't on the CD, that kinda erked me a little too. I got this CD as a gift, I don't know how happy I'd be had I paid $30 bucks for this though. Any way if you're a big trance fan this one has some great tracks, just don't expect greatness. Buy the singles instead

Rank 1.......2005-07-23

I've heard this album enough to be ready to write this review. The DVD captures what the cd would sound like live. And the Dvd is better than the cd. This cd was rushed. The intro "Symsonic" is symphonic being one of the best intro's I've listened to but i feel that "Cosmomatic" "Airwave" "Still In My Mind" "Awakening" were not produced to its full potential. You can hear when "Still In My Mind" gets cut and its one of the best tracks on the cd. "Awakening" gets the radio edit version. And Airwave? one of the best trance anthems of all time and they put a "cut" version and a remix? I'm not feeling that. This cd sounds like one of those trance cd's where they get all the hit songs and put 'em together and each track lasts 2 to 3 minutes. Poor production. And no this is not the Greatest album of all time not even close. 4 stars hopefully next time they will take things to ease to reach Rank#1.

Greatest album of all time.......2002-08-23

I just purchased this album, and it is by far the closest album to being exactly what I want to hear. I would recommend it to anyone who likes electronic music, or classical. And it comes with a dvd (Live at Trance Energy 2002). Rank 1 is one of the hottest live shows in the world, so you get two awesome disc's for a little bit more than a normal CD. You couldn't ask for a better deal.

The Best Electronic/Trance Album Outhere !!!.......2002-08-11

When it comes to trance/electronic album (which most often mainly consists of instrumental music), I usually have a problem with repetitive melody and sounds which make me feel bored and annoyed by it sometimes.

However,I can assure you that RANK 1 not only has managed to keep me enetertained, the album is surprisingly RICH with hi-energy tunes & certainly far from dull whatsoever. This is not your usual trance/electronic music. Most of the tracks are dance-floor friendly and very catchy. A few stand out tracks are:
"Such Is Life", "Symsonic", "Cosmomatic", "Airwave", "Awakening",and "The Citrus Juicer."

You also get their LIVE DVD that comes with this album. What more can you ask? Absolutely my favorite trance/electronic group at the moment !! Get this album. Peace !!

Pure trance.......2005-01-05

I had the immense pleasure of receiving a (burned) copy of Symsonic's "Rank 1" for free from a former co-worker since I was and still am a big trance junkie. Although I am tend to prefer my trance music with vocals, I dug this mostly non-vocal tracks. What I love about the music I heard on this cd is that it has that classic epic trance sound that makes me forget all of my financial woes and makes me want to go nightclubbing. It's hard for me to pick a favorite song off this classic trance album but I really adore "Such is Life" which has that classic female vocals that unfortunately has been overused by a lot of trance acts. I almost feel like I am listening to ATB or Chicane when I listen to "Such is Life". My other favorite songs includes "Symsonic" and "Cosmomatic". I especially love "Symsonic" which kicks off the cd with a killer orchestral melody. I think trance music nowadays has now become either too commercial or has been too influenced by mainstream music such as hip hop (i.e that sell-out Paul Oakenfold). I really think trance music needs to go back to its basic or at least listen to "Rank 1" because this is how trance music should sound still sound like. Trance should make you want to go hit the dance floor like Symsonic's "Rank 1" does for me. "Rank 1" is a vastly overlooked trance classic.

Anyone who know's trance, knows about Rank-1 being a highlighted production team. From doing great live sets, to releasing great singles. This album is well worth the money. Some of the songs are mellow, and some have the hard trance edge. A great produced album, along with a bonus track that is out of this world. The last track, is remixed into a darker and scary trance version of "Such is Life". The other versions 9 and 13 are different versions of the song "Such is Life". Track 12 is an Airwave version that is chilled out, but still great. Tracks 2, 3, 4, 6, 10, 11, 13, and 14 are my favorites. You won't regret buying this winner.
