Product Description
French only 10 track remix collection released on the Yellowlabel. Features a mixture of Bossa Beats, Acid Jazz & Smoot h House remixed & reworked by French, German & Japanese DJ's. Highlights include, 'Searchin' (Mixed By At Jazz), 'Vai M inha Triteza (Remixed By Francois K)', 'Easy In (Kyoto Jaz z Remix)', 'Nacer Do Sol (Restless Soul Remix)' amongst others. Standard jewel case. 2000 release.
But this one - the remixes are rather good! It admittedly took me more time to get into the remix album mainly because of the other two. But this one does have a few cuts not on either. Starting out the cd will be a track that's gotten bigger and more popular as the time has gone by - "Searchin'", by Little Big Bee as interpreted by AtJazz. I do like the remix better than the original, it's got a cool vibe and neat beat. You also have the full length version of "Tom & Joyc'es "Vai Minha Tristeza", remixed by Yellow Record's legend Francois K along with Eric Kupper. I really love this mix - it's got an urban heart-beat to it. The one on Bossa Mundo was chopped, this isn't. Waiwan comes up next with a mix of "Black Shrine". It's a cool track with that big bossa beat that I've grown accustomed too from his other remixes (see Banda Favela). Other highlights to this cd include a few different remixes to St. Ernesto's "Easy In", first by Kyoto Jazz Massive and next by Alex from Tokyo and Isao K. The last one closes out the CD in an extremely mellowed out, night beat vibe which contrasts sharply with the bossafied one on the original compilation. And Jazzanova's "Tres Bien" has always been a pretty sweet track.
I definitely recommend this cd. Looking back at the times, it's very interesting to see who was involved and where the small degree of separation between the musicians. You've got Restless Soul (think Phil Asher), you've got Jazzanova, Kyoto Jazz Massive (both Jazzanova/KJM are with Compost Records), Kaidi Tatham was a part in the original concept so you've even got some Bugz in the Attic influences. Let alone Modaji and several others. Bossa Tres... Jazz was an important release in the nu-bossa/jazz scene and IMO it helped connect different variations and bossa interpretations from around the world. If you dig this remix album, be sure to check out the original two disc Bossa Tres... Jazz. And there was a second one that came out in 2002 titled "Bossa Tres Jazz vol. 2"... step into the gallery. If you dig these, check out Brazilectro II, Nu Bossa Cafe, and Glucklich III and IV. And you might want to check Bargrooves: Metropolitan to sample the same version of "Searchin'" that's featured here.
