4 out of 5 stars another good comp from mastebeat--but slows down a little too soon.......2005-07-08

The Masterbeat: The Club series is everything the Ultra Dance series isn't. It opts for more peak hour, anthem vocal tracks rather than commercial tracks, has more hard to get mixes, and allows songs to run longer so they are closer to their full length.

Disc 1 has some biggies. How Did You Know is the original Billboard #1 that was recorded soon after by Mynt & Kim Sozzi (the more popular version). Debby Holiday, whose dance anthems have been much overlooked and are amazing, and both available on CD single with tons of excellent mixes, appears here with Dive, and it's over 9 minutes long. Moved on You give Alison Moyet no credit, but it's a whole lot of vocal (and sequencing) stolen straight from Yaz. And stupidisco is a melody from the Pointer Sisters hit Dare Me-resung. Personally, I prefer the Dave Armstrong version, which uses the actual Pointer Sisters vocal. Of course, the most important reason to buy this volume is the dance mix of Monica's Set it Off...a good 8 minutes long! Of course, the downside is that that's pretty much the highlight of disc 2, which ends up being a bit more low-keyed, with mostly mellow trance tunes that don't offer much energy. But the Offer Nissim track at least breaks up the monotony. Track times:

4 out of 5 stars Great CD, BUT.......2005-02-07

This is a really good CD with really good music. The problem is, I put it into my car CD player and it won't play. The display reads CD-rom. I put it into one of my home CD players. Won't play there either. It will play on my computer if I download some software. The CD does not say "Enhanced" or anything else, so beware! The funny thing is, on the CD it says, "Take Home the Music. Non-stop club music that's perfect for the gym, the office, driving, biking, boarding, relaxing, basically everywhere." Not really...

Brett Hendrichsen, I like your CD... Why won't you let me listen to it???
