Sorry, I made a mistake.......2006-06-01

This is NOT the first time a Madonna remix was over 8 minutes. I made a mistake; the first time was in 1987 for the "You Can Dance" album with an extended mix of "Into the Groove" clocking in at 8:26. I should've known, since I have it on my iPod! This is the first time a M remix was over 9 minutes! still a great mini-album.

Simply Amazing.......2006-02-21

Remixed Prayers is an awesome miniCD. I think this is also the first time a Madonna remix was over 8 minutes (Stop & Go Dubs-10:52). The cover was done by Madonna's brother. BUY IT TODAY!!!!

An expert collection of mixes of two stellar singles.......2005-12-19

While at first glance this collection seems only good for the avid Madonna collector, I can actually make a really good argument why every music fan should add this CD to their collection.

First off, "Like A Prayer" and "Express Yourself" are easily two of Madonna's best-ever singles. Many fans rank "Like A Prayer" as the best song she ever put out, and "Express Yourself" is way up there too.

Second of all, with Madonna, the club mixes are where its at and essential to appreciating her work. For someone that is new to Madonna's work, the "Remixed Prayers" EP would make a nice "companion piece" to say the "Immaculate Collection" or "Like A Prayer" full-on CDs.

This CD contains ALL the mixes of "Like A Prayer" and "Express Yourself" that matter:

Track 1 - Like A Prayer 12" Dance Mix

This was Shep Pettibone's original 12" house mix of "Like A Prayer" which got mega-club play (and some radio airplay) back in 1989. You'll notice that "elements" of it got incorporated into the mix of LAP that is included on the Immaculate Collection CD.

Track 2 - Like A Prayer 12" Extended Remix

Wow, what an amazing find! This is actually the original studio version of "Like A Prayer" Madonna did with producer Patrick Leonard. Only it is 6-7 minutes long. With an amazing intro. But the best part about this song is the ending. Instead of the early fade out like on the "Like A Prayer" album, the mix fades out into the choir doing acapella. Absolutely fantastic!

Track 3 - Like A Prayer Churchapella

Just the choir backed by a few synths.

Track 4/Track 5 12"/7" Club Version/Remix Edit

These two mixes are alternate club mixes of "Like A Prayer". They have a dramatic "oh my God..." introduction, and added percussion during the opening verses of the song to make them far more club-ready.

Track 6 - Express Yourself Non-Stop Express Mix

This is the full-length 7 or so minute long club mix of "Express Yourself" (far different from the original album version), that eventually became the definitive version of the song for radio airplay and in Madonna's live performances. A shortened version of this made it onto the Immaculate Collection. One of the best club mixes of any Madonna single.

Track 8 - Express Yourself Local Mix

This is a club mix similar to the album version of Express Yourself, only more "stripped down".

By the way, the cover artwork on this CD single was done by Madonna's brother, Christopher Ciccone.

Even if you're new to Madonna's work, you will find this CD to be a nice companion piece to some of her full-on CDs, with its stellar club mixes. If you're a collector, this CD should be at the top of your set of CD singles.

This is a great mini CD Of Like A Prayer Remixes and Express Yourself Remixes!!.......2005-08-26

This is a mini CD with 5 amazing remixes of Like A Prayer, the song that went to number one. It also has 3 remixes of Express Yourself the song that went to number 2. This is a great deal. Madonna wrote Like A Prayer for her Madonna who taught her how to pray. I highly recommend this maxi single if you want to me spiritually moved and dance all night. Express Yourself is about show who you really are in life and "dont repress yourself" great messaga.

The 12" Dance Mix can actually found a the remix video of Like A Prayer. It's very similar to the original video. Madoona doesn'r start singing till the first minute. The chorus is very much involved in this mix where they sing " just like a prayer" and I love how Madonna repeatedly sings " you know I'll take you there" . The Chorus is also in the background singing the same phrase.
The 12" Dance Mix starts off and you hear chimes sounds and then quicky goes into Madonna singing " Take You There". The music has such a happy feel to it and I love it. The rest of the song after the first minute is the same that we are used to listening too. Churchapella Madonna and the chorus mostly sing in this one and there is some music in the background but it is a little hidden so the singing would dominate this track. Madonna sings again "your voice can take me there" and the chorus repeats the same phrase and other phrases that Madonna sings and it is nicley blended in. There is an extended version of the chorus here and I love it, very moving. The 12" Club Version is the best remix of the beautiful song. She sings "Oh My God". The remix is powerful, very spiritual, energetic, and moving. Madonna whispers " for thou art the kingdom and the power of the lord" several times. This phrase is also remixed into the song with some heavy rock involved. The rock makes the song even better. It ends with the rock guitar, just amazing. I felt I was in church when listening to this that's how good it is. The 7" remix/ edit is simaliar to the 12" inch club version except Madonna sings "God" which I found so uplifting and it is shorter. These remixes can not be found on the Like A Prayer Album or The Immaculate Collection. The music maybe be similar but they are totally different than what you hear on this mini CD.

Another added bonus is Express Yourself. Non- Stop Express Mix is the same sounds made from the original song in this one. I like how she says " satin sheets are very romantic what happens when your not there" and her voice sounds different. This is the same with the Stop & Go Dubs. This remix is similar to the first one with the classic line as mentioned above. The Local Mix is the one that was suposed to be one the Like A Prayer album. It's very similar to the original song but its better and longer with more sounds. I honestly like this one over the original version but that is great too!! Overall this is a great deal expecially Like A Prayer and then Express Yourself or vice versa it really depends on you. They are just both magnificant songs with great messages about life and I am glad Madonna sang them both on her Reinvention Tour!!

Misleadingly Titled, But a Nifty Little Collection..........2006-12-02

Perhaps it is a bit of a let down to expect a collection of post-millenium-ready club thumpers and to instead hear what is more or less an odds and ends sort of grab bag release from the Rocket Man. However, the material included on the disc is a saving grace for the miffed consumers while they wait for a genuine remix collection.

"Are You Ready For Love? ('79 Radio Edit)" is a lightweight disco/pop confection, but a guilty pleasure that will cause all listeners to prick their ears in delight. John sounds giddy and love-struck as he sings with all the energy he has to give, while the cheesy scatter-brained synths date the record in a grin-inducing fashion. The "Ashlee Beddle Love and Protection Mono Edit" is a take-it-or-leave-it bubbly slice of jazz lounge-ready trippy pop.

"Candle In the Wind (Acoustic Mix) is an awesomely stark alternate look at the perennial classic. Simply John singing against Davey Johnstone's acoustic guitar and a choral background of Johnstone, Dee Murray and
Nigel Olsson, this rearrangement takes on its own unique spirit. Bernie Taupin's lyrics that pay homage not just to Marilyn Monroe but all who've seen their lives cut short in their prime come through more clearly than ever with the orchestration whittled down to low-key minimalism.

"Rocket Man '03," remixed by renowned remixer Hani, does not mess with the awesomeness of the original track. The original melody remains intact and John's vocals are not touched, but nevertheless a new-millenium sound is breathed into the song, giving it fresh air. It is not danceable, but also is suited to a jazz-lounge environment like Beddle's mix of "Are You Ready..."

The nearly eight-minute long remix of "Song For Guy" is a piano and drum-based track that is basically instrumental all the way through, with John's understated, nearly-obscured vocals only appearing past the 4:30 mark. This track, like Beddle's mix, can be taken or left, depending upon the listener. It does, however, benefit from a crisp New Age sound, which is particularly impressive considering it dates back to 1992.

Overall, "Remixed" is a nifty little collection of rearranged John tunes. Ardent and casual fans will all find something to enjoy on it, and the low price of admission is incentive enough to give it a try.

Where are the real REMIXES?!.......2006-10-03

I love Elton just as much as the next guy, but this CD is very misleading - ELTON JOHN REMIXED?! Hardly. I respect Ashley Beedle for not messing with genius, but this "remix" of the lost disco classic ARE YOU READY FOR LOVE? is really just an anemic, pointless exxxxxtended version adding nothing new to the original - better to have included the real remixes of this track only found on ltd. ed. import cd, like remixes by LINUS LOVES and FREEFORM FIVE for starters, who both reinvent the track for tougher underground clubs. Also, what with all the bootlet mash-ups flooding the market over the years of remixed old classics by Elton, such as HOUSE MIXES of YOUR SONG, ROCKET MAN, and more, why not comission today's hottest remixers/producers and really do it right? Elton has a wealth of riches, none of which are exploited, or at least reimagined, here. Save your eight clams.

Inaccurate title, but nice to have this........2004-02-26

Four songs at a budget price, so not too shabby. Though you may already have a few of these, since (with the exception of the extended edit of "Are You Ready For Love"), most have these have been available on other CD singles. But for those of us not savvy enough to have bought the imports over the years (or really didn't need to have the "Thom Bell Sessions" (which is not really one of Elton's better records), this will do nicely.

There are two real reasons to have this. The first is the "Are You Ready for Love" single, given its due some 25 years after it was recorded. It was one of Elton's many attempts to stretch out as a musician and songwriter, and he was shooting for a Philly/Detriot soul sound via producer Thom Bell. Bell was running hot with a string of hits for the Spinners, who originally sang back-ups here. Aside from being edited to play out for eight-plus minutes, the "remix" is superfluous. (Its not a remix, really - it's the old method of 70'd disco twelves where the song is spliced out to ridiculous lengths.)

The other is one of Elton's most overlooked songs here in the states. "Song For Guy" was a huge hit around the world when "A Single Man" was released, but somehow escaped that attention in the US. The added synths give it an additional airiness and relieve some of the elegiac qualities.

"Rocket Man '03" is no great shakes, and the acoustic version of "Candle In The Wind" is on the remastered "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" set, which is a must have for fans of all things Elton. Overall, "Remixed" is worth the bargain price, but it's not a necessity.

A great addition to your collection.......2004-02-19

I bought this CD not really knowing what to think and I am shocked to find that I can't seem to take it out of my CD player! It's an essential addition to what I thought was already a thorough Elton collection. "Rocket Man" was always one of my favorite songs, but this new version is just amazing. If I didn't know better, I'd believe that he had just recently written all of the songs on this album, not that they are from the 70's! That's how good these remixes are. Elton is a master of songwriting and arranging. The "Candle in the Wind" acoustic remix is beautiful; very simple and just as emotionally moving as the original. There are two versions of "Are You Ready for Love", which I love, and "Song for Guy" closes out the CD perfectly. You will love this CD!

A MUST HAVE!!.......2004-02-10

You can tell a song is truly "classic" when it can be nipped and tucked and changed around a bit and sound just as much like it belongs now as it did when it was originally released. Elton John has really outdone himself with this CD. The first two tracks of "Are You Ready for Love" are really fun, you can't help but dance. My favorites on the CD are the third and fourth tracks, the acoustic mix of "Candle in the Wind" and "Rocket Man 03". He somehow made "Candle in the Wind" even more powerful than the original, and "Rocket Man" is just really cool. "Song for Guy" is great too, something you don't mind putting in and just relaxing to, or driving to, or dancing to; this CD is really great for just about any situation! I would definitely recommend it- and it's so inexpensive!

Excellent Mixes .......2005-01-11

I have Part 1 and 2 and part 2 is superb, it is a bit faster (BPM) than the "original remix" from way back when....however the mixes here do not stray from the beauty of the "original" mix. A must have for all fans, part 1 is very close, but part 2 is the one to get. Jason Prof DJ

Uplifting Trance...!.......2003-11-28

This is truly a wonderful mix of progressive and uplifting trance style from Erasure's classic "Oh L'amour"...! Of all the remixes, the best that truly stands out the most is the "Kenny Hayes Remix", which besides the Shanghai Surprize Remix are only available on the UK import Mute label cd....I only hope, Erasure continues to have remixes from Kenny Hayes, and other trance styles, from such notable djs like Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, and Paul Van Dyke with emphasis on an Ian Van Dahl/Lasgo type influence instead of the previous lame ones by such unknown producers as Manhattan Clique, Dan Frampton, or J.C...

Great album.......1999-12-20

Unlike the first reviewer, who obviously isn't well versed in house music, I rate this much higher. He rated it low because he simply doesn't like the style. But that's besides the point. For those who like house music, especially uk-house, you will find this a superior album. Boris is one of the all time greatest house gods in my opinion, and he's done an incredible job with this album.

I first heard of Orion Too while browsing MOS website a few years back. I lost track of them until I saw there CD here.

Hope and Wait is just as great as the first day I heard it.
Traveling is even better, listen the the extended mix to feel what I mean.

I listen to a variety of trance and hard trance. Anywhere from DJ Dean to Milk Inc. I loved the CD so I am recommending it to you.

This is a REMIX "best of", NOT a straight-up "best of" compilation........2007-06-23

Any first-time listener of Clock DVA should be advised that nearly all of these tracks on this CD are REMIXES: i.e., they're not the standard album or single versions of the songs! Granted, they're all very recognizable as versions of the original songs, but they are different and it should be noted that the album versions are generally even better than these remixes. Especially the tracks off "Buried Dreams"! So if you like what you hear, check out the other Clock DVA releases from this era, especially "Buried Dreams" and "Man-Amplified".

One of the more diverse Industrial acts.......2000-07-14

This group isn't like Ministry or any of the hardcore industrial groups. But it isn't what I would call techno either. I guess the closest comparison to any group is Skinny Puppy before they were into the harder stuff. I liked this album a lot. Its the "greatest hits" of Clock DVA, but if you can pick up the CD _Buried Dreams_ where about half of these songs come from. My favorites are "The Hacker," which has a non-stop keyboard to move the song along, and "Sound Mirror." All of the songs have a sinister sound to it, which makes it intense in its own way. This is a great CD for those who want to try industrial without all the hardcore guitar and screaming.

Great for the Industrial Fan.......1998-08-22

This album has the beats and rythem that makes industrial music great. It's not hard like Ministry or KMFDM, but for continual percussion along with great keyboards, you can't ask for much more.

Mazing hacking terrifyingly cools sound.......1998-08-19

Saw this band few times live, their discs are well worth stocking, too bad hard to find originals, better just take the hit collection. Look esp for early two discs if you can find them. They sound like nothing else, dark jazz w/rhythms of darkness and technology.
