Seventy more minutes of circuit-party sounds and songs as Club 69's Peter Rauhofer programs from a more vocal-oriented perspective on this second part of his mix-CD experience. Ultra Naté's "Found a Cure" opens the set in a previously unavailable Rauhofer remix, and we're treated to the debut of Crystal Method's "Comin' Back." The Funky Green Dogs reappear from part 1 with "The Way" and "Until the Day," which keep the mood uplifting and positive. Rauhofer mixed these compilations himself, and the segues are straightforward and seamless, thanks to the DJ-friendly construction of his 12-inch mixes, which contain substantial drum breaks at the beginnings and ends of the arrangements that lend themselves to foolproof formatting. --M. Overall, I think this is a better volume with more energy. It's great to get a bunch of Rauhofer's diva anthem mixes. And while some tracks are quite short, a couple of goodies run over 7 minutes. Track times:

A "Club" Worth Joining........2002-07-16

Club 69 aka Peter Rauhofer is known for making infectious, yet very radio-friendly, disco remixes that fall nicely between high-energy and house. This collection compiles some of his work, and it's one, seamless, undeniable groove. Peter gets the mood right with his remix of Ultra Nate's "Found a Cure," leading up to the energetic rendition of Funky Green Dogs's "The Sound," and closing the disc with Yohan Square. Nothing cutting edge, here; just a fun disc of catchy grooves that don't lose steam during its 70-plus minutes.

Petered-out........1999-08-06

If you've heard one Peter Rauhofer mix, you've heard them all. Why he chose to include the tedious Future mix of "Magic Orgasm" is beyond me. The original funk mix of that tune is the only cut Peter has ever produced that has any staying power. If you like predictable, cookie-cutter tribal hump tracks, get this. If not, then wait "Until The Day" something good comes along.

The better of the two volumes--some excellent house cuts.......1998-08-09

Pretty much ditto for what I said in my review of vol. 1, though I find the overall feel and track selection of this CD to be superior to that one. I consider this a must-buy because it includes what are (in my opinion) the three best Club 69 mixes I've heard so far: "Until the Day" and "The Way" (both by Funky Green Dogs) and "Perfect Love" (by House of Prince--contrary to the amazon.com track listing, THIS is track #5).

One word to describe this cd - excellent! There is alot of people who claim to play real house music, but when you listen to some of there cd's, the sad reality is that its not real house music. David Morales is the ledgend and this cd is what real house music suppose to sound like.

A fierce example of pure techno.......2003-02-24

I don't have much to say about this record besides the fact that when it came out, it was (and still is)truly original and a prime example of how a full-length techno record should sound.

This record has a lot of variety running throughout the whole techno spectrum from fast-paced hypnotic sounds to strings-infused tech-house and broken beats sequences, all skillfully mixed into a (fake)techno radio show form with japanese interludes and commercials (really funny)! All i all,this is brilliant record.

So, three words: Go buy it !

This has to be the best Techno CD I've ever heard. I don't know how anyone could consider this cheesy, this is about as far from trance as it could be :) I suggest you download 'Peach Flower' and 'Force', but every (yes, every) track on here is amazing and quite varied. If you're into the sounds of hawtin, clarke, etc, get this you won't regret it.

Don't know how asian they claim to be, but I hear no asia, see no asia in their work. If you like classic techno, look no further, needless to say it's cheesy techno with no soul at its best.

It's definitely not for everyone's ears, but those who understand techno sound will probably realize that this is indeed something very special. It's the best of the best that Asians can offer in elctronic audio at this time. My advice: listen it before you buy.

Rauhofer adds simple bass lines and sound effects to create a relentless groove that spans the 13 selections, incorporating pop-dance megahits like Boris Dlugosch's "Hold Your Head Up High" and the Funky Green Dogs' "Fired Up." Sure, it's a GREAT idea to put a whole load of Club 69/Rauhofer hard to get remixes on one disc, and they even found 2 volumes worth, and I'll even accept that the tracks are continuously mixed, but to have most tracks falling short of 6 minutes is just ridiculous. They rave in the liner notes on the back of these discs that some mixes are available for the first time ever on CD, but they didn't even bother to put a small print pointing out that only HALF of each mix is what you're getting. Get this out of desperation to have at least a portion of the mixes in your collection. Track times:

excellent compilation!.......2000-07-10

This is an excellent selection of peter rauhofer mixes. It's the only chance to get some very rare mixes like the wonderful Depeche Mode's "It's no good". He's a great producer/remixer. This compilation is perfectly mixed! CAN'T WAIT FOR VOLUME 3!

Decent throughout.......2000-05-21

This compilation was not so bad, Peter is not a good dj though. His style of spinning has and always will remain weak, regardless of where he is spinning.

I remember hearing most of these cuts spun at the Tunnel, back when it was actually a decent club, and full of life. It brings back very good memories of a good period, under the once held reign over Manhattan, by the Tunnel.

Great House Music.......1999-08-13

Peter Rahoufer is a phemononal DJ and some of his greatest mixes are contained right here. What he does with a song like Depeche Mode's "No Good" is just brilliant. He has a knack for turning a song that has no right to be remixed into a dance anthem, no small feat. He also does really well with the dance tracks especially Brainbug's "Nightmare", one of the best house songs ever. Falco's "Der Komissar" has never sounded better and the same goes for "Din Da Da." This collection flows organically and is some of the best house music around. If you like Junior Vasquez Live Vol. 2, this is a must-have.
