A Truly Lucas Gem!.......2006-05-23

I bought this CD because of the first 3 tracks. Most tracks are the 12" versions. I also like this because of the inclusion of "Sometimes A Love Goes Wrong, Dreamer, and Street Corner Symphony" with longer versions not to mention 2 versions of "I Gotta Keep Dancin'. This is highly recommended.

Wonderful Disco classics!.......2002-03-15

I was so thrilled to find this collection on CD! I wore out my warped 12-inch single of "It's Not What You Got" and "Keep Dancing" long ago! Carrie Lucas is an under-recognized queen of great dance music of the early 1980s and this CD has all the greats! The above two songs are the best, but "Dance With You" and "Career Girl" were hits, too. And, a bonus on this CD was the delightful cover of "Hello Stranger", with the interesting drum machine that sets the exotic beat!

The Second Time Around.......1999-12-27

As a long time fan (20+ years now) of dance & disco music, I was quite pleased to find this CD on Amazon. The name Carrie Lucas might not be well known, but her single "Dance With You" is one of those disco classics that everyone who was around at the time would vividly remember. Sadly, after it had its run on the music charts, it sort of fell through the cracks and to this day you will be very hard pressed to find it on any of the 70s disco compilation CDs that have sprung up over the last 5 to 7 years. "Dance With You" was one of those songs that people heard but never really knew who sang it, which is sad in itself because even to this day it really is a great disco song, primarily because of its clever use of uplifting and captivating lyrics, and when you have the talent of Ms. Lucas on hand, one sort of wonders why the DJs hardly ever mentioned her by name. The music's not bad either. Actually it's brilliant as it makes full use of a very sophisticated arrangement of horns and strings, and there are guitars and drums that don't overwhelm you, but intrigue you to listen even more. If you have ever been reluctant to purchase a CD based on one song then you need not be when it comes to this one. Believe it or not there really are some disco artists that were true artists at what they did. In the case of Carrie Lucas, you could call her music "Da Vinci for the ears." I really wasn't in the financial position to purchase any of Carrie Lucas' albums when they were originally released (primarily because I was in grade school and jobless at the time), so I feel fortunate to be given a "second chance" of sorts. Thank you Amazon!

A forgotten but shiny jewel of the many disco diva's of the late 70's. You owe it to yourself to purchase this rare collection of carrie's finest tracks. One listen to "Dance With You" will immediately transport you back to those great dance clubs of the 70's. Truly the definitive disco diva, it is a treat to find this collection.
