Album Description

Imaginative, atmospheric, drum 'n bass jazz from former Abbey Lincoln, Betty Carter sideman Marc Cary.

Rhodes ahead is hand and hand with the jazz rock revolution mapped by Zawinul and Miles Davis in the late 60's and here Marc Cary pushes the electric piano boldly into the millennium, dedicating this album to it's inventor Harold Rhodes.

Cary negotiates a series of lush backdrops that vary from pneumatic drum & bass to mood indigo house and juggernaut-heavy jazz funk.

A stunning musical mosaic where jazz and jungle are simply the primary colors.

Tribute to the holy grail of synthesis. The distilled essence of electronica, the holy grail of analogue synthesis, linked to Herbie Hancock's casually gorgeous soul-jazz phrasing, trickling out of that bulky fiberglass casing like liquid funk.

Tarus Mateen's slithering fretless bassline interlocks with Cary's improvisations.

Inspired by the timeless classic sound or the Rhodes piano.

4 out of 5 stars a voyage in2 electronic space.......2000-09-12

this cd is just wonderful. it's not really a jazz cd, although the bass lines have a jazz feel 2 them. it's more of an electronic-space-dub-drum and bass thing. totally experimental in nature, yet the players know where they're going. the only thing that doesn't work 4 me is track 9, take me higher, which has congas in it. don't get me wrong-i love congas-but somehow it doesn't work with all the electronica that came b4 it. definitely worth an addition 2 any1's cd collection and i wonder if there is any1 else out there doing stuff like this.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding........2005-07-07

An outstanding example of "cheese free" Trance. My iPod is getting sick of playing it ;}

4 out of 5 stars Scott Bond is the next generation.......2005-03-02

nice mix...Scott Bond is the next generation of trance...
IMO TIESTO comparing with Scott bond is getting little bit commercial but this mix good

5 out of 5 stars A NEW GENERATION LIVES IN SCOTT BOND.......2004-10-26

SCOTT BOND NEEDS NO INTRODUCTION AS HE IS ONE OF THE LEADING DJ//PRODUCERS IN THE WORLD TODAY AND HIS FIRST ATTEMPT UNDER THE "AHEAD" LABEL PROVES WHY THIS IS SO. YOU MAY HAVE READ FROM TIME TO TIME REVIWES OF OTHER ALBUMS SCOTT BOND HAS CREATED AND SAW THAT THERE WAS LESS THAN PROPER "REVIWES" BY PERSONS WHO CLAIMED TO HAVE BOTH DEEP TO VERY SHALLOW BACKGROUNDS IN DANCE MUSIC. THE ISSUE THAT I HAVE WITH THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS IS THAT THOSE WHO WOULD SAY THESE NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUT A "GC" ALBUM SUCH AS "IT'S TOO PROGRESSIVE" OR "NOT REAL TRANCE AND NOT PRETTY" AND THEN JUDGE THE OVERALL WORKS OF SCOTT BOND SPANNING 10 YEARS WITH "GC" AND ALBUM PRODUCTIONS BY THAT REVIEW ARE JUST DEAD WRONG! THE IDEA AND CONCEPT OF THE "GC" ALBUMS WAS TO "CAPTURE" DIFFERENT MOMENTS WITHIN THE DANCE NIGHT AND WHAT ONE WOULD HEAR AT 11PM VERSES 2AM VERSES 4AM VERSES 6AM WOULD VARY GREATLY. WITH THAT SAID.....THIS ALBUM PUTS TO SLEEP THE IDEAS AND CRITICS THAT SCOTT BOND CAN'T OR WON'T OR ISN'T ABLE TO "SPIN" WHAT MOST PEOPLE WANNA HEAR IN TODAY'S MARKET(EPIC// POWER - BIG ROOM TRANCE). THIS ALBUM OVER BOTH CD'S WILL TAKE YOU ON A JOURNEY THROUGH NEARLY EVERY STYLE OF TRANCE, BE IT EVEN FOR A SINGLE SONG TO ALSO INCLUDE A RMX FROM TECH. HOUSE MOGULE CARL COX. WHERE "GC" WOULD MOSTLY "FOCUS" ON A NEARLY SINGLE "TIME OF NIGHT STYLE" OR "PARTY THEME STYLE" WHICH MIGHT NOT SUIT EVERY TASTE(SO STAY HOME AND LISTEN TO RADIO 1 OR SAMPLE THE CD BEFOREHAND IF YOUR NOT QUE TO THE TITLES IMPLICATION)THIS CD GIVES EVERYONE A BIT OF WHAT THEY WANT AND STILL SOMEHOW MANAGES TO KEEP IT ALL TOGETHER AND NEVER LOOSE THE "GROOVE" ONLY HOW SCOTT BOND COULD DO IT.
THIS IS A MASTERPIECE WORK AND HAS MY VOTE FOR THE NUMBER ONE DANCE ALBUM OF THE YEAR SO FAR AND WILL BE VERY HARD TO BEAT. WAY TO GO SCOTT BOND AND AHEAD AND KEEP A LOOK OUT FOR MORE BANGING MENTAL TUNES OUT ON "MADE IN ENGLAND" -SCOTT BOND'S NEW RECORD LABEL.

5 out of 5 stars Top Notch Trance.......2004-08-23

With so many trance this and trance that CD's sprouting all over like mushrooms, it's nice to know that there are still top notch compilations that should have a place in your CD player. This is DEFINITELY one of them. EXCELLENT!

4 out of 5 stars AHEAD By: Scott Bond.......2004-08-07

Good flow throughout but could use a little intrusion on the compilation output with space and bars. The threshold was limited but with great bass and drum therum. I recommend this digital mix to someone with impeccable but undesirable motives and answers for the future.
