Can't stop my leg from jumping!.......2007-06-06
I'm listening to Kerrier District 2 while typing this and my legs can't keep still--it's that infectious. Although there are only 6 tracks, they outshine the tracks on the first one. You basically can't go wrong with Luke Vibert no matter what he puts out (and no matter what name it's put out under). If only he could have his wish of being able to put out a lp/cd every week!
Disco Nasty.......2006-12-30
Reminding me a bit of Metro Area's awesome eponymous album, Luke Vibert comes correct with this sick ep of disco-electro-house. Sip a martini and nod your head or shake your booty and get down to this!

My kind of club music.......2006-05-16
Kerrier District pulls off a well made, hip update of disco pacing that does after some time become boring when the music revolves around that single tempo with uninspired sound clips guiding us through the shallow journey. Thankfully, most tracks are not like that, as Luke Vibert once again attests to the fact that he is one of the only artist's who can make decent art in an overwhelmingly shallow and cheesily produced genre. When the tracks work best is the same case as with any other project of his- when he is truly trying to step outside of himself as a house artist, utilizing his slick production skills and wonderful keyboard approach in ways that do more then just make you want to get up and dance, or at least make you want to articulate your dance patterns that much more specificly to reflect the nature of this intellegent dancesmith.
Kerrier District - Luke Vibert.......2005-10-25
What can I say, Kerrier District is the perfect house record. Deep grooves, distinct lack of boring sections, everything's balanced right, lush keyboards...some disturbing bass frequencies...I would recommend this even if you don't like house music, per se. It's just a really well crafted album.
A fine work in disco.......2005-08-12
Kerrier District is Luke Vibert's (aka Wagon Christ, Plug, Amen Andrews) disco project released on Richard D. James' own Replex Records. You'll get everything out of Luke that we have come to expect, as well as some new tricks, in a surprisingly fresh disco outfit that fits in perfectly with the many sounds of Braindance. For those who are not so familiar with Vibert's sound, I'm sure you will find that Luke is a master with thick base lines, funky break beats, and an expert when it comes to finding and arranging samples (he could be the best). Just hearing the opening of this album is proof positive that you are in for an hour of great, upbeat disco hits, with it's loopy kicks and clicks, pulled hi-hats, sustained and delayed synth lines, and some of the funkiest base you've ever tried to polish the dance floor with you're a** to. I can't help but want to crank this album up in some kind of alcohol-friendly roller skating rink party with nothing around but beautiful ladies feeding me soft pretzels and good friends to share in the fun. Well, maybe I can help it. Okay, so maybe skating rinks are a little outdated, but you get the picture, right? I really like this album and I want to party to it.
For fans of Luke Vibert, or just great party music, I would definately check this album out. There's never a dull moment.
alien vibes!.......2005-01-25
Kerrier District, a.k.a Luke Vibert, Wagon Christ, Plug, Amen Andrews e.t.c....
This is like the evolution of 'dance' music. Not 'electronic' music. Vibert never fails, this is original, eclectic, and fun.
For those of us tired of the same old melodies, expand your musical horizons. This is one of those albums you can just hit play and forget what track its on. I highly recommend this, and Anything by luke vibert/wagonchrist. This will restore your faith in the future of music. Whereas, other artists will use our love of music to make $$$, this is a musician that must express himself in this way. So if your concerned where electronic dance music is heading, this may be your road map.
As for the tracks, it starts out with the most alien dance track i've ever freaked to. It's like an organic marsian orchestra, complete with freaky voices going ooh oh oh oh, and of course the usual bumps and bass, claps and chessy rythym that reminds you of country square dancing for a second...vibert uses this for his drum palette.. and an eagle call that seemed to be turned into an electronic sound effect... only Napoleon Dynamite could dance and freak to this. The album continues to pulsate through the next few tracks, silhouettes and illogan are filled with mystifying rhythm and effects, these are obviously playful tracks. It's hard to not listen to the whole songs though because its never the same thing. You never know what sonic anomaly is around the corner!
New York is a serious track, I think it is a throwback to memories of earlier dance music... Yesco is a relaxing hummer, just listen to the rising instruments and vocals.. Negresco is another alien dance track, but when it breaks you will love it.
Squaredance seems to epitomize my notions of his quirky drum rhythms. This is how you square dance, Vibert style.
This album is like a spiritual awakening, just get up and dance to this and free yourself, every track will beg you to play with it. Movement isn't requested, it's required.
Just be careful your friends dont catch you dancing to this unless you want to give them a good laugh/scare.
