Very sweet, melodic, cinematic disco from 78; great stuff, not over-produced, whatsoever. Some filler, sure, but a lot of REAL instruments. Standout cuts: "Coco-Motion" and "Let's get it Together." Deserves a remix, perhaps, but great stuff.

Only bought this CD for "Let's get it together", but when I got the CD I realized that the other songs were good too. This CD is very Soulful with classic cuts from the Disco era. This is a CD that need to be purchased for the Deep Disco Headz. I first heard "Let's get it together" in a mix by Steve "Silk" Hurley on Chicago's WBMX 102.7 "Friday Night Jams" mix show (1985).

This is the kind of disco that makes my mouth water... Very beautiful harmony and melody along with the strong disco beat. The song "Cocomotion" is one of the best I`ve heard yet. If you like up beat classic disco of the 70s, you`ll like El Coco.

Album Description

Since its inception in 1996, Soulfuric Recordings has been bringing you quality tunes from respected DJs. Today, Defected Records is proud to present the next installment of In The House series with Soulfuric. Disc 1 and 2 are mixed by label founder Brian Tappert, and talented DJ/producer John `Julius' Knight. CD3 is the enhanced bonus CD with 10 classic Soulfuric tracks along with track notes, biographies, gallery, screen savers and wallpapers.

CD1 is mixed by John "Julius" Knight. He is a DJ who has always been attracted to the sound of club classics. His musical style is best described as raw, energetic, soulful and funky - perfectly captured on this CD.

CD2 is mixed by Brian Tappert, who is best known for being one half of the world renowned remix team Jazz-N-Groove Productions. He also records under the monikers of Urban Blues Project and Cleptomaniacs, as well as remixing from everyone from Loleatta Holloway to Arnold Jarvis to Sounds of Blackness.

This latest from In the House series is the perfect representation of Soulfuric - from its early days to now - making this album a must-have for anyone who likes their House with pure soul.

House Perfection: Defected's Very Best .......2006-12-22

I bought this Soulfuric set in Fall of 2004 and have not stopped listening to it. It is a fantastic reminder that genuine garage house is not extinct. I've got 7 or 8 of the "In The House" series (MAW, DJ Gregory, Dimitri, Joey Negro, Miguel Migs, Sandy Rivera, etc.) and another 4 or 5 of the "Soul Heaven Presents" (Blaze, DJ Spen, MAW, Dennis Ferrer, etc.). Soulfuric's 'In The House' is by far the HOTTEST of all of the Defected mix compilations released to date. It is seamless, intoxicating house perfection from start to finish. Highlights include the opening -- with the acapella of First Choice's "Love And Happiness" leading right into "Back Together" by Ron Carroll (a refreshing slice of Chicago-style house, reminiscent of Ten City/Byron Stingily); as well as the meshing of Roland Clark's "Resist" with Urban Blues Project's "We Are One". By the time I got to the CD2 pairing of Audiowhores "Nekoosha" with "The DJ's Calling Me", I thought my head was going to blow off -- it's that hot! Some great soulful diva vocals on CD2, Kathy Brown rocks "Give It Up" and the legendary Jocelyn Brown throws down on "Hold Me Up". This set will get any party started, get it while you still can.

P.S. If you can find the 3CD out-of-print UK edition, it's worth it. The 3rd CD has unmixed versions of Soulsearcher w/ Donna Allen's "Feelin' Love" and DJ John Julius Knight's epic "Find A Friend" (which samples Sylvester's "Over And Over" to marvelous effect) among other treasures.

Jazzy House Lounge CD for the masses.......2006-11-19

As a DJ with over 16 years of experience I must say that this is one of the best compilations/mixes of this genre of music. It is an enjoyable mix of lyrical, jazzy, loungy magic that just makes you want to dance. If you enjoy jazz and are trying to ge into house this is the one for you. If you want to have an idea of what club music used to be like BEFORE trance came along, this is the CD for you. If you are having a get together and want something nice and jumpy on the background while you enjoy a nice couple of bottles of wine and that won't drive you insane this is the ONE FOR YOU.

Here is one of the very reasons to buy a CD this expensive! This one is definately worth the price of admission to this banging, slamming almost heart shattering club experience. There is no reason to stop listening to these driving beats other than to catch your breath. These two DJ's really put it down with their jazzy, latin and african mixed beats. A must have for any house collection.

With CD's like this, who needs to go to a club? But there are only 2 in this package

I have to agree with all of the reviews on here, this mix is hot. It's great for: running through mountain trails, driving to work, pre & post funkin, lifting weights, and writing reviews on here (I'm listening to it as I type). I haven't decided which disc is my favorite, and maybe I really don't have to. It's nice to have music to put on that you don't have to skip around to find the few treasured songs. My favs are definitely "resist" from disc 1 (the beats melt you) and solymos/i get deep & the light from disc 2. Tons of lush vocals, but also good spoken word, latin instrumentation, and some pure deep house.

Very nice contemporary jazz albums.......2005-08-24

These two albums show the tendence of Eumir Deodato in a funky jazz style, with special instrumental electronic effects, but keeping his own style of making good music, which defines him in his triunfant career. These albums should not be missing in a good contemporary jazz collection. Deodato keeps using violins and traditional instruments in order to keep his own style.

People,people-jazz-funk fusion collectors of the world-those of you who don't mind a little disco in with your funky jazz THEN THESE ARE THE ALBUMS FOR YOU!!!!!!The 1980 album 'Nightcruiser' BURNS!!!!!!It's very "Ladies Night" period Kool & The Gang (makes perfect sense since Deodato is the producer).Both of these records feature no vocals and Deodato is as fabulous an arranger as ever.1979's 'Knights Of Fantasy' has much heavier disco leanings for sure but these albums belong together and could easily be part one and two.Just on the strengh of compositions like "Skatin'" alone-it's smooth,funky even YES-lightly muzak influences at times but it totally works!Any fans of late 70's dance-funk/jazz shouldn't even read further-GET THESE TWO AMAZING recordings now!They are 100% worth your while!!!!

We purchased this CD at Disney World and listened to it many times over on the 16 hour drive home to Ohio. Neither the kids nor the adults ever tired of it. It is very high energy and is fun to pass the time in the car on family trips! I highly recommend it!

Are you guys kidding me? Half of the movie's soundtrack is missing! "Mi Gente" by Hector Lavoe, "Che Che Cole" by Willie Colon, "Muneca" by Eddie Palmieri, "Vieja Luna" by Celia Cruz & Johnny Pacheco, "Abuelita" by Willie Colon & Hector Lavoe, "Alma con Alma" by Ray Barretto & Adalberto Santiago, "El Todopoderoso" by Hector Lavoe and the best song of the whole freaking movie: "Para los Rumberos" by Tito Puente. What happened? Whose pockets were not lined, who wasn't paid off? This soundtrack offering is a joke! Get the Mambo Kings soundtrack, if you want good latin stuff. They are lucky I gave them 1 star. I couldn't give this less.

WOW! "CUCHI-CUCHI" IS A GIFT FROM THE LORD!! In my born days I've never known Charo to disappoint. Her magic-streak continues with this roller disco-licious love letter to fun, and "Cuchi-Cuchi." Buy this disc for the title track alone and you will live a few years longer. "Cuchi-Cuchi" is such a stress-relieving slice of yesteryear's Latin magic. Ole', Ole'!! If you don't love this record, you have zero sense of humor and a hatred of puppies and sunshine. Charo is a Latin Wizard! You'll thank me -- and most importantly, you'll thank the loins of Iberia for birthing such a uninhibited ambassador of musical cuchi-cuchi. Que puedo decir de este album? Absolutamente un clasico de la disco. "Cuchi-Cuchi" tiene todo el sonido de Salsoul y la orquestacion resulta realmente increible. El album, en si, tiene un sonido mas dirigido hacia el pop, las unicas excepciones son la clasica "Dance A Little Bit Closer" y "Cuchi-Cuchi". Lo mejor de todo es que se incluyen las versiones extendidas de dichos temas y la remasterizacion es inigualable. Larga vida a Charo!

I am so glad I bought this CD. The orchestrations and disco beats are superb together and Charo is perfect to sing these songs. I am sure Cuchi-Cuchi would be huge in disco's even now!
I shall buy Charo's other CD's and some for my friends for Christmas. Perfect!

Not what I expected.......2006-08-12

I was hoping to find Charo doing more latin tunes or spanish guitar along the lines of "Guitar Passion". I don't know how I missed that this was a disco album.

Album Description

Although he is best-known for film scores like Bullitt and Enter The Dragon, prolific composer Lalo Schifrin has always maintained a side career as a jazz musician. This album found Schifrin turning his skills as an arranger and keyboardist to a set of material that matched up some unlikely but effective covers with a few originals. One of the highlights among the covers include 'Quiet Village', which transforms the exotica classic into a slow-burning funk vamp dressed with plenty of spacey synthesizer. Sony. 2005.

i've been waiting soooo long for this to come out in CD. i first owned it on cassette when it came out in 1976. not sure, but it got thrown out and i've regretted ever since. this is great music!
