Customer Reviews:
Fabulous for any Broadway-lover.......2007-01-30
Packs into 5 CD's a sampling of Broadway tunes from the 20's thru (almost) today, mostly from original cast recordings. Includes not just well-known hits, but also some lesser-known gems. Sound quality is first rate, booklet is informative too. Have given this as a gift to several friends with rave reviews.
Top Shelf.......2007-01-04
This is THE definitive collection of Broadway hits. I have other collections, and none of them measure up. A great deal of care was obviously taken in compiling and presenting this box set. It covers a lot of ground, starting with some long-forgotten but still very enjoyable hits from the days of yore, and finishing with present-day favorites. To the best of my knowledge, the recordings are by those who made them famous. You won't be disappointed.
TERRIFIC CD'S.......2006-03-23
THESE BROADWAY MUSICALS CD'S ARE A BROADWAY LOVERS DREAM. WITH EACH SONG, MEMORIES COME FLOODING BACK. BOTH THE FAMILIAR AND THE FORGOTTEN SONGS ARE A TRUE LISTENING PLEASURE. IF YOU LIKE BROADWAY, YOU'LL LOVE THIS SET.
Great Collection of Broadways greatest Songs .......2005-06-14
This Collection was perfectly made it has almost all the most famous Broadway songs on this 5 cd set. The Music is great and has Broadways greatest treasures like "Memory""People""With One Look""Give my regards Too Broadway" just to name a few of this numerous cd set with over 100 songs. This is a great buy if you like musicals or The music of Broadway
Great Compilation!.......2005-01-17
If you are a fan of the Broadway Musicals, this is a collection that you should purchase. Since I got the 5 disc set I've enjoyed listening to it. The majority of the songs are done by the original singers. The collection is priceless considering that you will have over 100 songs from popular musicals since the beginning of Broadway

Hail Moloko! Long live Moloko!.......2007-04-13
Although they have disbanded, Moloko is one of my favorite bands, and this effort is one reason why. In fact, everything they do is fantastic, and unpredictable; Roisin is a true artist and risk taker in ways that I wish the "pop divas" could be. Roisin probably never will be a superstar, even though she can really sing, and is very attractive. Her desire to create, and not just ape current trends will prevent her from reaching a larger audience, which is a shame, in a way. Get this album, get ALL Moloko albums, and get the fun "11,000 Clicks", the DVD of their Brixton concert (which I am grateful they made before they broke up. Don't believe the first reviewer above, Moloko is
wonderful.
Moloko: I Am Not A Doctor - Don't do it!!.......2006-01-19
I heard Moloko newest dance version of "Sing It Back" on the radio the other day (1/06) and HAD to have more. So I hit Amazon, read these reviews and bingo - I dropped $45 bucks for two of her CDs (this being one), both imports. Got them today and was INCREDIBLY disappointed. Yes, they are quirky, curious and fun in their own way, but NOTHING like her newest single - nada, zilch, zip. Very experimental, which I applaud, but a bit too experimental if you ask me, and of course I was expecting something way different based on the other reviews. In all honesty, between the two discs (32 songs total!), I MAYBE like ONE...SAVE YOUR MONEY and buy them USED if at all. Really...Trust me!!
IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE?.......2004-07-09
I just got this CD and to say it surpasses Moloko's debut, "Do You Like My Tight Sweater" is an understatement. This go round on "I Am Not A Doctor", Roisin Murphy's vocals are more mature and tighter than on the first release, and the production is flawless, mixing various styles together into a cohesive package that is sure to impress any funkateer, pop-fan or clubhead! Highly Recommended!
Trippier, hoppier, and even more fun for you..........1998-09-13
If you were blown away by Moloko's debut release ("Do You Like My Tight Sweater?"), you'll be even more tickled by their follow up, "I Am Not A Doctor". The fifteen tracks show Moloko at their most infectious -- even if there's not a doctor in the house, you won't mind waiting around for a cure once this album gets under your skin. Although some of the tracks ("Sing it Back", "Caught in a Whisper") are a wee bit more more generically "dance" oriented than those on "Sweater", fans of Moloko's zany improvisiational, Freud-gone-amok lyrics and beats won't be disappointed by such standouts as "Knee Deep", "Be Like You", "The Id", and "Over My Head". Those curious little interstitial tracks you loved on "Sweater" (i.e., "Dirty Monkey") are back here again as well -- "Sorry" gives you a minute and a half of beats a la Kraftwerk circa 1981 with a lyrical delivery Yoko Ono would be proud of. If all this sounds confusing and pretentious, relax, it's not -- "I Am Not A Doctor" is 70 minutes of unabashed fun and groovy beats with intelligence and style. Worth every penny of the import price for the gorgeous cover graphics alone.

The best of the Moloko CDs.......2001-11-04
For the past six years, Moloko has proved that they rule the funky-electronica roost. Each of their albums has got progressively more accessible and enjoyable. However, after closer inspection, I Am Not A Doctor is easily their best work. More mature than Do You Like My Tight Sweater, and much, much funkier than Things to Make and Do, IANAD can be listened to over and over without even hinting at becoming tiresome. Each song is heavily layered, ad will take countless hours to fully unravel. With danceable, singable numbers like The Flipside, icy songs like Downsized and Be Like You, and balancing the whole thing out with the bet Euro-Disco sng in History, Sing It Back, IANAD will surely garner plenty of spinning time in your CD player. What's more, the amount of goofy "filler" tracks has been reduced to three, and they even make musical sense. But perhaps the best part of I Am Not A Doctor is The ID, an absolutely amazing song about a man's rise and plummet to shame. With it's haunting chorus, funky bassline, and tounge-twisting lyrics, The ID is worth the price of the CD alone, even with the import charges. Get this CD. Now.
Calming down the volcano.......2001-05-23
When i first came to this album was the moment of chill out of a party night. I was so found about the "Sing it back" song that i bought the album. So, what can i say?... Moloko moves from noise to music, in a thin ice between creation and annoying. I must confess, i never have heard it entirely, just some songs. All is well made but sometime creation can destroy comunication. Anyway, i give 4 stars to the album 'cause it's better to try to make some change than keep our ears on the pollution of world economical pop music.
Hasta la vista.-
my favourite Moloko cd!.......2001-02-27
i am a HUGE Moloko fan... & I Am Not A Doctor is by far my fav moloko cd so far.. the other 2 aren't far behind.. they r amazing too... very excited about the new cd out later this year.. anyways.. if u r interested in Moloko at all.. GET THIS CD!! =)
should've been. . . could've been.......2000-11-21
With MOLOKO's sophomore effort many people said that it was not as good as DO YOU LIKE MY TIGHT SWEATER. I disagree. It's NOT like DYLMTS but it's just as good. I AM NOT A DOCTOR should've been, could've been their first release and with this CD, MOLOKO is less manic, less cartoonish than before which is what probably throws people off. Instead, the music is icy and cold like the snow packed mountains MOLOKO poses on on the CD sleeve, yet at the same time it's cool. . . very jazzy, very hip and very cool. Whereas DYLMTS was all over the board fusing jazz with hip hop(FUN FOR ME) with throaty torch songs(WHERE IS THE WHAT . . . )with thumping house tracks(BUTTERFLY 747), IANAD is more focused and is a much smoother listen with each track a perfect fusion of the aforementioned. The little song snippets are still here as well and are some of my favorite moments on the CD. SORRY is one of them as Roisin Murphy deadpan whispers not-so-heart-felt apologies over an 80s synthpop beat that would make YAZ or ERASURE proud. It's hynoptic, amatuerish sound harkens back to a more innocent time of dance music. SING IT BACK is the track most would be familar with although the CD version is nothing like the hopped up dance remixes. Roisin growls and snarls the lyrics in a sexy, sultry, seductive manner that can be compared to the vocal stylings of MACY GRAY. At points throughout the CD Roisin even sounds like MACY. This track is for the hipsters. My personal fave is DR ZEE. This track has been in heavy rotation on my CD player. With this repetitious trance-like song, Roisin whispers her trademark twisted vocals over beats so thick you can bite them. It sucks you in, swirls you around and leaves you slobbering for more. And why is everything brown if all functions are shutting down????? I LOVE MOLOKO! I think they are one of the most creative and innovative groups I've listened to in a long time. I would suggest, for first time listeners, checking this CD out first. If you can get into the wacky, weird warpness of IANAD then you will have an even greater appreciation for DYLMYS. It's fun music for fun people who don't take their fun too seriously.
quirkable, slamtastic funk.......2000-04-24
Yeah. oh yeah. Moloko. oh yeah. Moloko be the capital of the planet electro-funk. Don't be fooled by the single, cuz that isn't what moloko is all about. They have some hooks, but what they really got is some new wave soul. oh yeah. Flavor: Chutney refried beans (minus the cilantro)
