Feet: A Global Dance Party

Editorial Reviews

It's been said countless times that music is a universal language. You could also say that dancing takes this one step further (pardon the pun) because the music experience goes from passive listening to active participation. Hardly some DJ mega-mix collection, Feet features a smart collection of 13 up-tempo tracks that emphasize living breathing musicians playing and, for the most part, singing about having a good time. There are some concessions to modern times (remixes by Bob Holroyd, TJ Rehmi, and Baron Lopez) and a few electric beats, but this is certainly not what we've come to expect in a global dance record. While that is to be applauded, the objective of dance CDs is to keep people dancing, which doesn't always happen here--the ambitious range of material means that it doesn't all fit together seamlessly (one rough transition has Scottish bagpipes next to Congolese soukous). Once the head readjusts, however, each song is strong enough to get you movin' and groovin' again. --Tad Hendrickson

5 out of 5 stars Fun in 13 Languages!.......2006-03-16

I am so glad I bought this CD! It's like a party in itself (albeit a tad more sophisticated party), with fun, worldly music that makes you want to get up and dance. It's not that typical teenager 'dance' mix, but truly an eclectic, ethnic melange of great world music--each song with it's own amazing beat. If I had to say anything negative, it would be that there is one song I don't care for-- the Celtic 5th track, which I thought was too eerie to go with the rest of the upbeat album, but overall I'm very pleased. Anyone who appreciates culture, music, and fun will love the energy of this great compilation.

What a breath of fresh air. An organic yet contempo collection of well thought feet moving global dance tracks. Now I can have a small dance party at my pad and feel like I have good taste in music. Fun for all!
