5 out of 5 stars adam f tries his hand at hip hop.......2002-04-21

ive been listening to adam f fer about 5 years now . fluently keepin up witht he drum n bass scene and i had noticed thati hadnt seen adam f the genious behind f jam recordings and the phenominal album colours hadnt been puttin anything out . I come to hear hes producin a hip hop album and went off my rockers . i got this album a few months ago and it still impresses me . Tracks like stand clear and smash sumthin set the tone fer a great album . the only thing i dint like was the song with lil mo . shes horrible and its a little bit too poppie for my tastes . All in all its a great album . Hold tight for the smashin remix of stand clear

5 out of 5 stars Drum n Bass producer turns Hiphop - and pulls it off.......2001-10-24

Being a Drum 'n' Bass head, i have played Adam's last album "Colours" about a 1000 times, each time totally blown away by the brilliant and crystal clear production of it. I guess Adam thought it was time for something else - no one heard from him in two years in Drum 'n' Bass land.
Enter "Chaos". Adam has turned his skills to hiphop, and he does an excellent job. Production wise this album is again excellent, IMHO even better than the stuff Timbaland does. Most of the tracks are excellent hiphop, most of them with a dark edge - which suits him fine. There is an R 'n' B orientend track on it as well ("Where's My ****") and a very clever use of sound effects (gregorion choirs, samples of "sci-fi"gunfire) complete the album. The track "Stand Clear" hints to Adam's last drum 'n' bass single "Brand New Funk". Lot's of guests to! (LL Cool J, CNN, Lil' Mo, De La Soul, Beenie Man, Pharaoh Monch - you get the idea)
I'm not in hiphop anymore since, aah, well Ice T's "O.G. Original Gangster" - but this stuff is excellent!

    5 out of 5 stars Class!.......2003-04-28

Adam F is indeed one of the best producers around but unfortunately over-shadowed by the over-hyped likes of the Neptunes. This album is rough, hard hip-hop that is extremely original and appealing. 'Smash Sumthin' infuses an operatic opening to hype up the bass line and Redman's top-notch vocals. 'Dirty Harry's Revenge' strikes me as a cool slice of funk for the car while cruisin. This is a wicked track but Beanie Man is a little annoying (as ever). MOP do a good job of F's club track 'Stand Clear'. If there is a hip-hop track to get you on your feet then this is it!
The best track on the album - and one of my favourite songs is 'Where's My...'. Adam F uses the vocals of Lil'Mo (?) and adds the hard hip-hop (with a hint of Garage) with some sweet singing. This is a class song on a class album! I'd recommend anyone a fan of urban music to get this because it is truly excellent!
This is a wicked album and I can't wait to hear more from Britan's own Adam F - HE ROCKS!

4 out of 5 stars This CD is HUGE!!!.......2003-01-25

First of all, a warning. Do not buy this cd if you are looking for "Circles"esque Adam F. You won't find it. This is a hip hop album, with production done entirely by Adam F. This is huge hip-hop. The sound is just BIG. Adam F brings in lots of horn, string, opera and choral samples, to give all of the songs a really big blaring sound. "Smash Sumthin" with Redman is an amazing track, and is totally worth buying the CD for (you can also find this track at the very end of Redman's recent CD "Malpractice") This is just a bumping party song, with an incredible bass line. "Stand Clear" with MOP is an equally huge song, with the standard hilarious MOP trademarks of yelling "[edited]!!" and laughing histarically before they launch into their flows. This, in my opinion, is not a five star cd, because it isn't one I can sit and listen to all the way through. I find myself skipping some tracks. But the tracks I don't skip are ALL AMAZING. Some of the best hip hop songs I have heard are on this CD. If "Stand Clear" and "Smash Sumthin" don't persuade you, listen to "Time 4 Da Tru" with De La Soul. The production on this cd is extremely high quality, and the choice of MCs is excellent given the type of hip-hip Adam F is aiming for. All in all, a good buy.
