If you're familiar with the legends of San Francisco's rave culture (which you're probably not, since it has gone largely undocumented), you may come across the story of Richard Sun. As the leader of Ambient Temple of Imagination, Sun put together "chill rooms" at San Francisco parties that were intensely involving and psychedelic. This album, recorded live at the Gathering with the help of studio partner Seofon and didgeridoo player Steven Kent, is a continuation of his mission to combine serious mysticism and spirituality with ambient music, a genre largely defined more by its intellectual rather than spiritual goals. Previously, the products of this mission have largely been confined to short-run 12-inches and hard-to-find CDs; Planetary House Nation provides those outside the loop an opportunity to hear Sun's engaging fusion of tribal drum loops, ethereal guitar, and didgeridoo along with creepy spoken-word lectures. --Matthew Corwine
