Blues: Live - and with Feeling.......2001-10-20

Turn this one up when your friends come over. Excellent blues and a sweet voice. Even better, go see the Duke in person. Blues that doesn't sound like every other blues band.

Mystifying, Mysterious, Sensual.......2006-06-04

Radically distinctive and without equal, the sounds and her voice leaves you yearning for more! I found out about Blind Divine on myspace and bought thier cd thru them online. Not only have I not stopped lsiteing to this over and over but my daughter and friends are after my cd! Will definately be buying more for gifts! Highly recommended!!! Also, the artwork on the cd is breath taking, they also included extra art when I ordered my cd from thier site...amazing style and i definately am waiting for thier next cd! wish they'd do a concert here!

I stumbled on this album while looking through the Eventide Music Productions website. I ordered it directly from the band via their site because it was the only way I could find to get it. After the first listen, I wrote them and told them that I would definitely be bragging about their album. Now I can...and let those out there who have stumbled over it here at Amazon know that it's well worth every cent you pay....it will grow on you...haunt you....suck you out of yourself and into a dark, velvet, invitingly frightening space.

If you happen to know Akira Yamaoka...you'll so be into this album. If you want to know how to turn that teeth grinding, splintering glass sound at the beginning of Texas Chainsaw Massacre into a painfully lovely song, you must buy this album. If you have ever enjoyed standing alone in the rain...sitting in the dark just to see the shadows move....watching a storm roll in...buy this album. It was made just for us.

The folks at Hip Jazz-Bop invite you, in their wry liner copy, "to listen and feel your need for wealth replaced by a desire to unlace your shoes." Everything about this relaxed compilation of bop and post-bop from Black Lion's vaults fits right into the plan. Lee Konitz's tongue-in-cheek "Bop Goes the Leesel," and Count Basie's "Ingin' the Ooh" emphasize the lighter side of jazz, as does Duke Ellington's "Taffy Twist," Mal Waldron's playful "Mean to Me," and Zoot Sims-Bob Brookmeyer's bouncy "Whooee." Things get a little more serious with Randy Weston's sophisticated funk on "Berkshire Blues" and Thelonious Monk's lengthy soliloquy on "I Mean You," but the music still retains a feel of relaxed authority. Kenny Dorham's "West 42nd Street," featuring the uncredited tenor sax of Rocky Boyd (these CDs are short on credits), and Freddie Hubbard's "Apothegm" also percolate along at a nice midtempo groove. Good Remixes of a Great Song.......1999-12-11

Only seven versions instead of ten this time around (hey, are these guys slackin'?), but they're starting out with a killer track. Sadly, I found nothing to match the "12 inch version" (which is actually the album version), although some come close - "DJ Pulse Mix" and "Direct Dubit/Arkarna's Dub Mix" are both good. Like on House of Fire, one remix is awfully long ("Evolution's Time Bomb Mix") and this time, it isn't very interesting. Good luck finding it, but that's fine - buy the LP while you still can.
